  • Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Tian Huiying from Guangdong Province Tortured to Death in Sanshui Women's Forced Labour Camp

    On February 15, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Tian Huiying from Maoming City, Guangdong Province was arrested again. She was tortured in Sanshui Women's Forced Labour Camp until she was emaciated, and died on July 6, 2005. The officials at the labour camp lied to her family, saying that she had been hit by a vehicle inside the labour camp, and that that this was the cause of her death. They compensated her family 30,000 yuan and cremated her body. She left behind three children who are left at home without care.

    On one occasion she escaped but didn't make it far. A policewoman immediately beat her so hard that Ms. Hou could no longer stand. When Ms. Hou Youfang was carried back to Team 2, she screamed in pain, "It hurts so badly. My arms and legs have been broken!" Not long after the police officers carried her to the labour camp hospital. The police took Ms. Hou to the hospital, planning to destroy the evidence.

    An insider from the Jinqiao Public Security Bureau in Dashi City, Liaoning Province, recently revealed how practitioner Ms. Su Jingyan died. On August 21st, 2001, Ms. Su Jingyan was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution when local police arrested, tortured and interrogated her. After she was beaten to death, her body was thrown into a local pond, making it look like an accidental drowning.

    69-year-old Ms. Cao Guimei lived in Liaoning Province. Between July of 1999 and December of 2000, she was arrested twice and tortured at Longshan Forced Labour Camp. She went on a more than 40-day hunger strike and the guards repeatebly force-fed her with highly concentrated salt water. Afterwards, Ms. Cao could not stop coughing and vomited blood for a month. She became emaciated. The authorities finally released Ms. Cao who then died at the end of 2002.

    Mr. Hu insisted on practising even after the government suppression of Falun Gong began. He was ordered to the police station to talk about his "realisation of Falun Gong." He went to Beijing in July of 2000 to tell people about the goodness of Falun Dafa and was detained for half a month. From February 28th to March 15th, 2001, Mr. Hu was detained at a farm, where he was brainwashed and persecuted. Mr. Hu got a high fever from the harsh treatment but was not allowed to go home. In May of 2001, because of the great mental pressure and having no way to live since his salary had been suspended, Mr. Hu became ill, fell down, and never got up again.
  • Ms. Chen Guoxiang, a 70-year-old Practitioner, Died Due to the Persecution

    Ms. Chen Guoxiang was a 70-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner. After the persecution of Falun Dafa started, although she was illiterate, could not speak clearly and had never gone far from home, Chen Guoxiang travelled to Tiananmen Square in Beijing by herself around December 8, 1999, to appeal for Dafa and tell people about the goodness of Falun Dafa. She was arrested on the outskirts of the city and detained in Beijing. She was beaten, made to suffer freezing cold weather and was forced to stand for extended periods of time. After she was released she was forbidden to return to her daughter's house, who had been arrested and tortured for practising Falun Gong, and was harassed frequently by police. She suffered terrible mental strain, the magnitude of which is hard to image. In the early morning of May 21, 2005, the elderly Mrs. Chen fell over suddenly while on the toilet and slipped into a deep coma. A week later, she died.

    Tiantang brand umbrellas are produced in the forced labour camp. Those who worked fast could sew 70 to 80 umbrellas a day. The prison guards treated Falun Gong practitioners as money-making machines and forced them to work day and night. Even former family visiting days and holidays were turned into working days. Meanwhile, their food was of low quality. A bowl of porridge in the morning had to sustain them for five hours and the pickled vegetables smelled of maggots. Their lunch and supper each had only one vegetarian dish and the vegetables were dirty, rotten, bitter, and tough. Some Falun Dafa practitioners developed bottom sores and swollen legs as a result of their long working hours. Those who could not finish the assigned tasks were slapped in the face, beaten with rubber sticks, shocked with electric batons, handcuffed, punished by being forced to kneel down for long periods of time, and put into solitary confinement.

    70-year-old Mr. Li Huazi went to Beijing to appeal. Police arrested him on the way and locked him up in the Shijiazhuang Detention Centre. While there, he suffered a brutal torture: the police hammered a row of nails into a wooden block, with the nails protruding one or two centimetres. They then punctured Mr. Li's palms with the wooden block. Later, Mr. Li was transferred back to Hanchuan City and sentenced to one year of forced labour. Mr. Li again suffered savage torture, which resulted in him becoming extremely weak. He suffered oedema and asthma. In spite of this, when his term was over, they still didn't set him free. Mr. Li thus underwent a hunger strike and was released in December 2001. Since then his health deteriorated steadily, and Mr. Li passed away on May 26, 2005.
  • Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Yang Yajuan Dies Due to Persecution

    36-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Yang Yajuan, was from Heilongjiang Province. Township CCP Director Mr Liu Guoping hired local villains who tortured her using freezing, beating, and insults, etc. During the past several years of constant harassment and threats, her physical condition worsened. In December 2004, Ms. Yang Yajuan's husband (also a practitioner) was reported to the police, and arrested. This caused Ms. Yang's physical condition to become very severe. She became thinner and thinner, and died on April 19, 2005.

    On June 7, 2005, prison officials ordered prisoners to strip off Mr. Xu Jishan's clothes, tie him to a bed, and spray him with cold water from a highly pressurized water pipe. They sprayed so much water that he had trouble breathing. An hour later, Mr. Xu's lungs were filled with water. By the time he was sent to the hospital, he was already dead.

    53-year-old Ms. Xin Huiming was diagnosed with "pulmonary artery embolism". Ms. Xin then started to practise Falun Dafa, after which her condition gradually improved and she could take care of herself. One year later, she completely recovered from the disease. After July 20, 1999, Ms. Xin went to many government offices at different levels to tell people the truth about Falun Dafa with her own experience. The local township police and 610 Office arrested her and sent her to the county detention centre where she was tortured using various instruments such as high-voltage electric shocking devices. In 2000, Ms. Xin died as a result of the torture.

    In June 2005, the persecution deaths of 230 Falun Gong practitioners in China were verified. Since Jiang' Zemins regime began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, a total of 2,656 practitioners have been tortured to death and their deaths have been verified through civil channels. Of the 230 torture deaths verified in June, 59 took place between January and May 2005, and 15 took place in June 2005. Sixty two percent of the practitioners tortured to death were women, and sixty three percent were over the age of 55. Additionally, according to preliminary statistics from the Minghui/Clearwisdom website, at least 271 practitioners died under the persecution between January and June 2005, and among them, 230 death cases were verified.

    Grandmother Geng was well known in her neighbourhood as a kind-hearted person. Because she and her children practised Falun Gong and believed in its principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, the Chinese Communist Party has severely persecuted them during the past five years. One of them has been detained in a forced labour camp for a long time. Within the first 35 days of this year, Grandmother Geng and two of her family members were persecuted to death in succession. Less than a hundred days later, another two of her family members were jailed by local officials and the police.

    Mr. Zhang Zhagen was a fifty-two-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner. On April 7, the authorities sentenced him to two years of forced labour in Kaifeng Forced Labour Camp. Mr. Zhang refused to follow the authority's order to denounce Falun Dafa. As a result, they tortured him with various means. Mr. Zhang was declared dead on the morning of June 28, 2005. Medical analysis indicates the following facts: 1) Zhang Zhagen apparently suffered severe suffocation at the labour camp and the best chance to save his life was missed; 2) his brain and internal organs had suffered severe damage; 3) Zhang Zhagen was injected with unknown medicines;

    "When I heard the news of Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Jia Cuiying's death from lung cancer on October 20, 2004, as a result of the persecution in the Hunan Provincial Women's Prison, I was upset for a long time. In grief and indignation, I reflected on the knowledge that the healthy and optimistic Ms. Jia would never have died so prematurely if it weren't for the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners perpetrated by Jiang Zemin and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). If the Hunan Provincial Women's Prison authorities hadn't tormented her physically and mentally, she would still be alive."
