Kind Villager in Hebei Province Dies as a Result of Persecution in Handan Labour Camp
2013-02-22
Mr. Wu Ruixiang was taken to the Handan Forced Labour Camp on April 24th, 2012. Mr. Wu refused to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong]. He was subjected to brutal torture there. Guards ordered an inmate to deprive Mr. Wu of sleep and ordered the inmates to monitor him around the clock. Mr. Wu was forced to stand or sit on a small stool. He was verbally abused and threatened. He was forced to attend brainwashing sessions. He was originally sentenced to one year of forced labour. However, four months later, the camp authorities called his family and urged them to take him home. Mr. Wu died on January 18th, 2013. -
Elderly Man's Cancer Cured Through Falun Gong Practice, Dies after Forced to Live in Cold Cave
2013-02-15Mr. Zhai Jiazhong, an elderly farmer from Henan Province, had persisted in practising Falun Gong. Just for that reason, the village chief, who is a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), forced him to move out of the village and live in cold cave in the mountain. He passed away in August 2012 due to starvation and living in the cave. -
Practitioner Mr. Liao Yuanfu Dies after Years of Torture
2013-02-15In December 2000, Mr. Liao Yuanfu hung up some Falun Gong banners outdoors. He was arrested by police. The police beat Mr. Liao with fists and boots, and armed police hit him with the backs of their guns. Mr. Liao's face swelled from the beating and his eyes were black and blue. The beating lasted for several hours. Mr. Liao was sentenced to ten years in prison on January 24th, 2001, and he was transferred to Deyang Prison. While in prison, in order to "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] Mr. Liao, guards used every imaginable method of torture on him. After Mr. Liao was released, officials demanded that he write a guarantee statement to renounce practising Falun Gong, but Mr. Liao refused. In March 2012, Mr. Liao had pain all over his body, and was out of breath and very uncomfortable. His condition deteriorated, and he was eventually bedridden and unable to care for himself. Mr. Liao passed away in extreme pain on November 7th, 2012. -
Mr. Yang Minghua, 59, of Beijing Dies after One Month in Detention
2013-02-15Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Minghua was arrested on August 9th, 2012 and held at the Shunyi District Detention Centre. He became emaciated as a result of the persecution. He was released on medical parole in September but passed away on October 10th at the age of 59. Mr. Yang's wife Ms. Sun Shanxiang also practised Falun Gong and was sentenced to forced labour three times. She is incarcerated at the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp and does not know about her husband's death. -
Mr. Zhang Qingsheng Facing Trial; His Wife Tortured to Death
2013-02-15Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhang Qingsheng, Ms. Yang Xiuying, and Ms. Wen Shufan have been detained for over a year. The Hulan District Court in Harbin City planned to put them on trial on December 28th, 2012. Police raided Mr. Zhang's home on January 14th, 2004, after arresting his wife, Ms. Sun Yuhua. Ms. Sun was tortured to death and passed away on March 8th, 2004. -
The Persecution of Former Police Commissioner Mr. Li Dezhong Before His Death in 2000
2013-02-15Mr. Li Dezhong was a commissioner in the police department in Heilongjiang Province. He started practising Falun Gong in 1996 and followed the principles of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance to be a good person. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, he was put under house arrest and his house was searched. His liver disease recurred and he died at the end of January 2000 at the age of 49. -
Dalian City Intensified the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in 2012
2013-02-15Ma Danliang was appointed head of the Dalian City Detention Centre by the Dalian Municipal Government on May 17th, 2012. He has continued to actively enforce the regime's policy of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Two months after he took office, 69-year-old Ms. Zhang Guilian from Kaifa District died as a result of abuse in detention. -
Mr. Wei Chaohai, 62, Tortured to Death in Deyang Prison
2013-02-04Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wei Chaohai died on January 1st, 2013. Mr. Wei was sent to Qingjiang Prison Hospital for emergency treatment on December 31st, 2012, and died the next morning. Details are under investigation; however, it is certain that Falun Gong practitioners are not allowed to do their exercises in prison, and are subjected to forced brainwashing and close monitoring. Thus, they are tortured both physically and mentally. Mr. Wei was arrested in September 2009 and sentenced to eight years in Deyang Prison for practising Falun Gong. -
Ms. Chen Shulan from Beijing Detained Again after Eight Years of Imprisonment
2013-02-04Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Shulan was once again arrested and taken to the Changping Detention Centre on December 16th, 2012. All seven members of Ms. Chen's family practised Falun Gong, but five of them have lost their lives as a result of the brutal persecution over the past more than 13 years. Ms. Chen's younger brother, Chen Aizhong, was tortured to death in Hehuakeng Forced Labour Camp in 2001. Ms. Chen's younger sister, Chen Hongping, had her legs broken when guards at the Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp beat. She was tortured to death in 2003. Ms. Chen's other brother, Chen Aili, ended up in critical condition after being tortured in Jidong Prison. He died in 2004. -
Still No Justice for Outstanding Teacher Who Died in Police Custody
2013-01-04Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Fengxia was a teacher in Daxingan Ridge, Heilongjiang Province. She was arrested on August 5th, 2010, after hiring a lawyer to defend her brother Mr. Li Fengfei, who had been unjustly arrested and detained because he was a Falun Gong practitioner. Ms. Li's family went to the detention centre several times to visit her but were not allowed. Ms. Li died in police custody on April 28th, 2011, at the age of 54, after eight months of detention. The Alihe Police have still not provided an explanation for her death, nor have they released Ms. Li's body to her family. -
Older Mr. Wu Mingshan Dies after Repeated Detention and Imprisonment
2012-12-28Mr. Wu Mingshan, 63, was arrested on March 19th, 2009 while distributing Falun Gong informational materials in Xinhua County, Hunan Province. He was later sentenced to four years in prison and was incarcerated and severely abused at the Wumaping Prison. Mr. Wu was released on medical parole in May 2010 when he was on the verge of death. He could not recover his health and died on November 26th, 2012. -
Mother Persecuted to Death 12 Years Ago, Daughter Detained Again
2012-12-28Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tan Zhen was arrested by the local police when she went to visit her friend in Beijing in March 2012. She was sent to the Daxing Women's Forced Labour Camp in Beijing for a two-year term in April 2012. Twelve years ago, Ms. Tan was detained in a forced labour camp for a three-year term for practising Falun Gong. At that time, her mother, Ms. Yu Lianchun, also a Falun Gong practitioner, was tortured to death in a forced labour camp in Shandong Province. -
Older Mr. Zhang Jinsheng Dies As a Result of Persecution
2012-12-21Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Jinsheng, 62, was arrested before the 2008 Beijing Olympics and sentenced to seven years in prison. Mr. Zhang developed stomach cancer in prison in 2010 and was in critical condition as a result of mistreatment from persecution. He was sent home on November 3rd, 2012. Two weeks later, on November 18th, Mr. Zhang passed away. -
Li Zhiqin's Family Threatened after Filing Complaint Over His Wrongful Death in Police Custody
2012-12-21Despite brutal persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Mr. Li Zhiqin steadfastly cultivated Falun Gong. In April 2006, he was forced to leave home to avoid being arrested. On September 12th, 2007, police officers broke into his apartment and arrested him. Mr. Li died that night in police custody. Over the past five years, Mr. Li’s family has continued to demand an explanation as to cause of his death. Not only did the police refuse to compensate them adequately, but they also threatened the entire family that they would be arrested should they appeal for justice. In July 2012, with no other avenues left to them, the family submitted a letter of complaint to the Ningjin County government. Police have been harassing and threatening the family. -
Mr. Xu Xiwang, 53, Dies after Injection Given at Brainwashing Centre
2012-12-07Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Xiwang was disabled since childhood. His left arm was smaller and weaker than his right arm and was disabled. Mr. Xu was arrested and taken to Liuji Brainwashing Centre on March 18th, 2011. He was severely beaten and injected with unknown drugs. Immediately after the injection, he became totally incontinent and delirious. He could not even recognize his acquaintances. Mr. Xu died on November 9th, 2012, at the age of only 53.
