Suizhong Economist Sent to Forced Labour Camp for the Third Time

Ms. Li Xiaoyan was arrested by officials on October 23rd, and was recently sent to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp for the third time for practising Falun Gong. Earlier, in 1999, Ms. Li spent three years in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp because she had written appeal letters to explain the facts about Falun Gong. In the summer of 2002, she was released on bail for medical treatment because she was in very weak condition as a result of persecution. While she was in the camp, the Suizhong Agriculture Bureau fired her. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel often harassed her after she was released, and her husband divorced her because he could not endure the enormous pressure from the authorities. -
Gaozhou Father and Son Sentenced and Sent to Forced Labour Camp
2011-11-26Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Zuqiang was arrested by three police officers on October 25th, 2010. The Maoming 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) dispatched two vehicles to escort Mr. Wu to his home. They surrounded the home and removed his computer, printer, motorcycle, Falun Gong materials, and other personal items. The police pilfered almost everything in the house, including about 26,000 yuan in cash. Mr. Wu's son, Wu Xianjin, was at home at the time and was arrested. On July 18th, Gaozhou Court sentenced Mr. Wu, who is in his sixties, to eight years in prison. -
Wang Xinchun from Heilongjiang Province, Who Lost Both Legs from Persecution, Is Arrested Again
2011-11-25Practitioner Wang Xinchun, 35, had previously been tortured by the police and as a result lost both of his legs. On October 26th, Mr. Wang was arrested again by police. His father was harassed and left feeling terribly frightened. Mr. Wang was taken to the vice squad interrogation room at the Yichun District Police Department. They confiscated his mobile phone and physically abused him. Police also ransacked Mr. Wang’s home. -
Four Practitioners Secretly Sentenced by Yushu City Court in Jilin Province
2011-11-25Four Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to a pre-trial by Yushu City Court on August 23rd after being detained in the Yushu Detention Centre for more than 100 days. The whole trial was conducted under the control of the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). Afterwards, the practitioners were detained for another two months. Their families were forbidden to visit them and knew nothing about their cases until late October, at which time the practitioners were secretly sentenced. Ms. Yang, Ms. Xu and Ms. Sun were each sentenced to three years in prison. Ms. Guo was given a term of three and a half years. -
Ms. Zhang Shuying's Eyewitness Account of the Severe Persecution She Was Subjected to at the Harbin Women's Drug Rehabilitation and Forced Labour Camp
2011-11-24As a result of the persecution of Falun Gong I was arrested eight times and put into a forced labor camp four times. I was shocked so severely with electric needles at the Dongcheng Detention Centre in Beijing that I became dysfunctional, lost my memory, and could not speak or take care of myself. At the Heitong Detention Centre I went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. On the third day of my hunger strike I was force-fed. Several people held me down and inserted a thick rubber tube into my nose, leading to my stomach, and affixed it with adhesive tape that was never removed. I felt as if I was going to suffocate. I was force-fed four times per day with cornmeal gruel. -
The 610 Office in Fuzhou City Orders the Justice Bureau to Pressure Attorney
2011-11-24On January 19th, 2011, Mr. Zuo Fusheng was arrested on his way to work by police. The officers later ransacked Mr. Zuo's home and approved his arrest. The 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Fuzhou City directed the Cangshan District Procuratorate and Court to escalate the persecution of Mr. Zuo. The Cangshan District Court created many obstacles to interfere with the attorney in reading the case files and meeting with his client. In the meantime, the 610 Office ordered the Justice Bureau in the attorney's city to pressure the attorney to not attend the trial. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Xu Lu,18, Arrested in Hubei Province
2011-11-23Ms. Xu Lu, 18, is from Gong'an County in Hubei Province. She is studying nursing at the Gong'an County Vocational Middle School. At around 3:00 p.m. on October 25th, her teacher Ma Yan called her mother, saying that he needed to talk with Ms. Xu about the exams. Once Ms. Xu arrived at school, she was arrested by the head of Gong'an County 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) Xie Feng and the deputy chief of the Domestic Security Division Liao Xuesheng. Ms. Xu was taken to an unknown location and was held overnight. She was then taken to Wuhan City Brainwashing Centre the next day. Two teachers from Ms. Xu's school were also sent there to monitor her. On November 1st, it was alleged that Ms. Xu had been on a hunger strike for five days to protest her persecution. -
Mr. Wu Tengpeng from Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
2011-11-22District Court in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, secretly tried Mr. Wu Tengpeng on September 21st 2011, after he had been detained for four months. Beijing lawyer Mr. Wang Yajun entered a not-guilty plea for Mr. Wu. After only one round of debate, the prosecutor failed to respond and had nothing to say. Over a month later, the Lushan District Court officials issued a verdict and sentenced Mr. Wu to three years in prison. -
Older Disabled Woman Sentenced to Seven Years of Imprisonment
2011-11-21Ms. Wang Yuluan, 55, is seriously disabled. She was arrested in her home by officers from the Anping County Domestic Security Division in October 2010 for practising Falun Gong. In June 2011 she was sentenced to seven years in prison. A disabled person who can't take care of herself has been put in prison for nearly a year by agents of the 610 office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) because she believes in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. -
Ms. Zhao Chunzhuang Arrested by Agents from the Yongzhou City 610 Office and Police Officers from the Yongzhou City Domestic Security Division in Hunan Province
2011-11-21On October 8th, agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and police officers arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Chuzhuang and took her to the so-called Law Education Centre to undergo brainwashing sessions. The 610 Office has set up many brainwashing centres in all over of China. They are often, as in this case, disguised as “Law Education Centres,” which are actually illegal, secret prisons used for brainwashing. Ms. Zhao Chunzhuang has also been brutally persecuted in the Beimalong Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province due to her insistence of belief in Falun Gong. -
Mr. Ma Guohua, Former Teacher at Northeast Normal University, Sent to Forced Labour Camp; His Family Requests His Release
2011-11-20On September 9th, police arrested Mr. Ma Guohua and ransacked his home. The police charged Mr. Ma with disturbing the public peace and sent him to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp to serve a one-year term. Mr. Ma and his family refused to accept this sentence. Mr. Ma was arrested while at his workplace, and he was not disturbing the public peace. -
Mr. Yang Hongjun and His Wife Wen Lan Sentenced in Foshan City
2011-11-20Because they remained steadfast in their spiritual belief, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Yang Hongjun and his wife, Wen Lan, were sentenced to seven and three years of imprisonment respectively on July 22nd, 2011, by officials from Shunde District Court in Foshan City, Guangdong Province. Since they violated no laws, the couple pleaded not guilty during their trial and defended themselves based on the law. The judge nonetheless sentenced both of them and they both appealed. Foshan City Intermediate Court officials upheld the original verdict without holding a public hearing or notifying their family. -
Xiangtan 610 Office in Hunan Province Arrests Several Falun Gong Practitioners
2011-11-19Recently, Xiangtan, Hunan Province 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) officials arrested several Falun Gong practitioners, who were then taken to a detention centre, brainwashing centre, or psychiatric hospital. On August 22nd, police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Duohong. Informants said that Ms. Wang began a hunger strike to protest the persecution, but was taken to the Detention Centre Hospital, where she was given forced injections of unknown drugs. Police tortured her during their interrogation and forged evidence of crimes against her. -
Ms. Li Shanshan Arrested by Tangshan Domestic Security Division
2011-11-18Ms. Li Shanshan is a Falun Gong practitioner and is the wife of Mr. Zhou Xiangyang. Police, in collaboration with Gangbei Prison in Tianjin, arrested her and her husband on March 5th, 2011. Ms. Li openly spoke out about her husband's detention in Gangbei Prison after she was released. She wrote an open letter to appeal for her husband, stating that he had been wrongly sentenced and was suffering terribly. This letter, entitled “A Young Couple's Journey: Zhou Xiangyang's Fiancee Appeals Seven Years for His Release,” was published and carried by multiple media outlets outside of China. Many people from Mr. Zhou's hometown were moved after reading the letter, and signed a petition originated by Ms. Li to demand his release. As of late September, nearly 2,300 people have signed the petition. -
Mr. Mu Yadong and His Wife from Pingdingshan City, Henan Province Arrested and Their Home Ransacked
2011-11-18On October 14th, Mr. Mu Yadong and his wife (a non-practitioner) were arrested by police while on their way to drop off their daughter at school. Their home was ransacked, and the police confiscated a desktop computer, two laptop computers, two mobile phones, several dozen copies of Falun Gong books, and the couple's minivan. Mr. Mu and his wife were taken to the Pingdingshan City Detention Centre on the morning of October 15th. Since October 14th, Mr. Mu has been on a hunger strike to protest their arrest. He is currently very weak and in critical condition. On the morning of November 1st, he was sent to the Pingdingshan City No. 2 Hospital to receive emergency treatment.
