Ms. Cao Yingchun Imprisoned and Tortured after Recovering from Myasthenia Gravis

Ms. Cao Yingchun used to suffer from a neuromuscular disorder called Myasthenia Gravis 13 years ago. Feeling hopeless and in despair, she came across Falun Gong and obtained a new lease on life. However, over the course of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong that began on July 20th, 1999, Ms. Cao endured inhuman tortures. In 2002, she was arrested and held in the police station. She recounts: "Two people put me on an iron chair, shackled my ankles, put an iron rod in front of my abdomen and then cuffed my hands behind the chair. The individual holding the shackles on my feet pulled on them very hard, while bricks were being put underneath my arms. When I fainted from the pain, they poured cold water on my face." -
Mr. Zheng Lijun from Wangqing County, Jilin Province Sentenced to Ten Years of Prison
2011-08-28Mr. Zheng Lijun was arrested in early March 2011, then interrogated and tortured. He was recently sentenced to a ten-year prison term. Mr. Zheng has been subjected to frequent threats and intimidation over the last 12 years for remaining steadfast in his belief. He often lived away from home to avoid persecution. He was arrested at a practitioner's home. -
Cruel Conditions in the Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp
2011-08-28In the past, most of the detainees at the Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp were drug addicts. As of July 1999, however, many Falun Gong practitioners, who had committed no crime, were incarcerated there. There is a saying in the labour camp, “[a detainee] works harder than a cow, gets up earlier than a rooster, eats worse than a pig, and sleeps less than a watchdog.” Most of the detainees had injuries upon release. In the early days, the labour camp produced rubber mats, and many detainees' arm muscles were damaged after extended exposure to high temperatures in the work area. When they got up in the morning, many of them had difficulty putting on their clothes due to severely swollen wrists. Beating often happens at the labour camp. -
Dalian City Police Arrested and Robbed Over 30 Falun Gong Practitioners
2011-08-28Officials and police in Dalian City of Liaoning Province, arrested more than 30 Falun Gong practitioners in Jinzhou New District and ransacked practitioners’ homes on June 29th. Many practitioners’ houses were stripped bare. Practitioner Mr. Wang Riqing was robbed of approximately forty to fifty thousand yuan in cash and a deposit book containing over one hundred thousand yuan. One of the masterminds behind the arrest was Bi Kefeng from the Jinzhou Domestic Security Division. Starting in 2000 he persecuted many practitioners. In 2000, a practitioner was arrested while distributing materials that detailed the facts about Falun Gong and sent to the police station. Bi tortured the practitioner for more than five hours, causing the practitioner’s face to be deformed. -
Ms. Wang Zhiying, 56, from Weihai, Shandong Homeless for More Than a Decade Due to Persecution
2011-08-28Wang Zhiying has been homeless for more than 10 years to avoid being arrested for upholding her belief in Falun Gong. She has suffered both mentally and physically from the persecution. Below is her account of what happened. She recounts: "In 2001, because I refused to give up my faith, my husband Song Jiangong and I were forced to leave our home. Only our daughter, who was in high school, remained at home. We rented a room in another place, but police from the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) found us and broke in. A policeman grabbed me by the hair and handcuffed me from behind. Two policemen stepped on or knelt on my lower back and legs. I could not breathe and fainted. I was taken to the detention centre." -
Villagers in Shandong Province Condemn Linyi 610 Office Agents
2011-08-27On June 22nd, 610 Officers (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Linyi, Shandong Province, went to harass and arrest Falun Gong practitioners in Suijiadian Village. However, the villagers condemned them and they had to leave. Prior to the persecution, there were many practitioners in Suijiadian Village and they benefited a great deal from practising Falun Gong. After the persecution started, practitioners were persecuted by the local 610 Office. Practitioner Zu Peiyong was held in a forced labour camp twice. Other practitioners' homes were ransacked and they were arrested, held in brainwashing centres, and had money extorted from them. -
Sisters Zhang Xiaoling and Zhang Yueqi from Guangdong Province Arrested, Family Calls for Help
2011-08-26Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhang Xiaoling and Ms. Zhang Yueqi were arrested by police from Huangpu District Police Station on August 3rd. When their other sister Zhang Liling went to the police station to demand their release, she was detained overnight. The two sisters are currently detained in the Huangpu District Detention Centre. Ms. Zhang Yueqi is only 16 years old and a student. The family is very worried about them. -
Mr. Ouyang Haiwen Sentenced to Four Years in Prison for Practising Falun Gong
2011-08-24Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ouyang Haiwen, 56, once travelled to Beijing to speak out for Falun Gong, only to end up being beaten by Chinese police and suffering from intracranial bleeding. He was later sentenced to two years in a forced labour camp for sharing important facts about Falun Gong. He once suffered from the brutal torture of being force fed for several months because he had protested being thrown into a forced brainwashing facility for practising Falun Gong. He was at the brink of death several times because he went on hunger strikes as a non-violent means to protest his unconstitutional incarceration. Not long ago, while he was connected to IV fluids and an oxgen tank, a group of medical staff took him to court for a sham trial because he had practised Falun Gong; yet he appeared in court, dignified. -
Falun Gong Practitioner's Teenage Daughter Taken Hostage by Tianjin State Security Bureau
2011-08-24On July 20th, 2011, Li Yang, the teenage daughter of Ms. Yang Chunxiang, a Falun Gong practitioner in Tianjin, was arrested by officers of the Tianjin State Security Bureau. It was rumoured that Li Yang might be released in exchange for Ms. Yang Chunxiang. Ms. Yang Chunxiang and her daughter went out to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on May 12th. When someone reported the pair's activities to the police, Ms. Yang and her daughter were arrested by police. -
Practitioners Severely Injured After Being Chased By Police in Jixiang County, Shandong Province
2011-08-24Ms. Song Furong, 66, Ms. Liu Dali, in her forties, Ms. Liu Jing, 48, and another practitioner were reported to the police when they were seen distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong in Jintun County, Shandong Province. Four police cars were driving in the wrong direction on State Highway on July 16th, causing panic and chaos, to try and catch practitioners riding motorcycles. One of the motorcycles crashed and the rider fell, breaking several bones and leaving her unconscious. The second motorcycle stopped to help, and the two ladies on it were arrested and sent to Jixiang Police Station. -
Police Shoot at Peaceful Falun Gong Practitioner During Arrest
2011-08-24On May 23rd, 2011, police discharged their weapons while arresting a Falun Gong practitioner as he was working in a field. Mr. Sun Yi was arrested by local police while doing farm work. Although officers shot at Mr. Sun, he was fortunately not injured. Mr. Sun is currently being held in the Mianyang Detention Centre. Previously, Mr. Sun was sent to to a forced labour camp for 18 months. -
After Being Sent to Forced Labour Twice Before, Mr. Zhang Jingzhou Now Sentenced to Five-and-a-Half Years
2011-08-22Mr. Zhang Jingzhou has already been sentenced to forced labour camps twice before. During mid June 2011, he was again sentenced to five and a half years of imprisonment by a Hongshan District Court in Wuhan City. During the 12 years since the Communist regime launched its brutal suppression of Falun Gong and since Zhang refused to give up the practice, he was seized and detained and his house ransacked countless times. Mr. Zhang was sentenced to a total of three and a half years of forced labour twice and subjected to brainwashing. His wife divorced him because she was unable to bear the persecution. -
Fujin City Teacher Ms. Liu Guizhen's Personal Account of Being Persecuted Again
2011-08-22Ms. Liu Guizhen, a maths teacher from Fujin City No. 4 Middle School, Heilongjiang Province, was forced to stop teaching in 2006 because she held firm to her belief in Falun Gong. In 2007, she was sentenced to forced labour and tortured in Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp. After being released, the school would not take her back. Recently the school principal, Wu Hongbo, and the deputy principal, Wang Ze, cooperated with the local 610 Office staff (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) to arrest her. -
Four Practitioners from Dianbai County, Guangdong Province Taken to Brainwashing Centre
2011-08-21Over a dozen officers from the Shuidong Police Station and Guancaotian Police Station, arrested Ms. Mai Weilian, Ms. Pan Guihui, Ms. Hong Meifang and Mr. Liu Shaozai and took them to the Shuidong Police Station on August 6th. The police broke into Ms. Mai Weilian's home at 9:00 p.m. on August 6th. They ransacked the place without showing a warrant and confiscated Falun Gong books, cash, and Ms. Hong Meifang's bank deposit book. The four practitioners were taken to the Maoming Brainwashing Centre the following day. -
Puyang City Police in Henan Province Arrest Eight Falun Gong Practitioners in July
2011-08-21Eight Falun Gong practitioners residing in Puyang City of Henan Province were taken away by the police in July 2011. On July 8th, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Caowei was arrested. He was incarcerated in Nanyue County Detention Centre. His family attempted to visit him on July 11th, but were denied. When practitioners Ms. Shao Ziying and Mr. Zhang Wenbin were putting up banners at Nanyue County to expose the crimes of the county police against Mr. Wang Caowei, they themselves were arrested.
