53-Year-Old Ms. Zhan Zhongrong Secretly Sentenced to Forced Labour Camp

On July 4th, practitioners Ms. Zhan Zhongrong (53 years old) and Ms. Bi Lanxiang (70 years old) were arrested and detained by the Fulai police station. Ms. Zhan Zhongrong’s son went several times to the national security team and asked to see his mother and her arrest papers, but his request was denied. Ms. Zhan’s son received a notice on July 19th, from a police officer. It said, “Your mother was sentenced to forced labour or one and a half years.” -
Guangzhou Lawyer Zhu Yubiao Sentenced to Two Years in Prison
2011-08-04The Zhuhai District Court in Guangzhou held a session on July 13th, 2011. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhu Yubiao was sentenced to two years of imprisonment. Mr. Zhu's mother denounced the judge for being controlled by the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and sentencing her son, bringing shame to the law. After she spoke, the judge was speechless. -
Former County Government Official Persecuted Due to His Beliefs
2011-08-04Falun Gong practitioner Kou Chuangjin is a former county-level government official in the Qingyang Business Bureau. On June 29th, over ten police officers from the Criminal Police Brigade of the Xifeng District Public Security Bureau in Qingyang surrounded his home. They drilled through his anti-theft door, and broke into his home. They arrested Mr. Kou, and confiscated some of his personal belongings. Mr. Kou was held in the Xifeng District Criminal Police Brigade for two days, and subsequently taken to a detention centre. -
Ms. Lv Renjuan Sent to a Forced Labour Camp--Her Relatives Beaten After Requesting Her Release
2011-08-03On June 20th Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lv Renjuan was arrested by police in Longkou City, Shandong Province. On July 5th, she was sentenced to one year of forced labour, and was sent to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp in Zibo City. Her relatives went to the forced labour camp to ask them to release Ms. Lv, but they were unreasonably beaten and detained. They were subsequently released. -
Third Arrest of Ms. Peng Dongjun from Tongliang County, Chongqing
2011-08-02Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Peng Dongjun, 58, was arrested by four plainclothes police officers at the Anju Township bus station on June 24th. She has since been secretly detained at Tongliang County Detention Centre. Ms. Peng went on a hunger strike to protest her arrest and her physical condition is critical. This is the third time Ms. Peng has been arrested. She was previously imprisoned for four years, during which time she was tortured via various methods, including having her hands cuffed behind her back. -
Mr. Yin Sirong's Family Seeks Legal Support, Which Results in Threats by 610 Office
2011-07-29Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yin Sirong is from Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. After his term at the forced labour camp ended, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities sent him directly to the Xijin Brainwashing Centre, also known as the Chengdu City Legal Education Centre. His family and friends have been trying to get him released by seeking legal aid. Mr. Yin Sirong's family and friends submitted a request for his immediate release to officials at Xijin Brainwashing Centre on June 20th. Zhang Xiaochu, head of the Chenghua District 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), along with other officials, went to harass and threaten Mr. Yin's family after they submitted the request. -
Prison Inmate Bears Witness to the Torture of Falun Gong Practitioners in China's Liaoning Province Women’s Prison
2011-07-29I am not a Falun Gong practitioner. After I was found guilty of a minor offence in 2002, I was given a jail term of one and a half years, and was put in Liaoning Province Women’s Prison. The persecution of Falun Gong practitioners was rampant at the time and practitioners were being systematically arrested and sentenced. I saw one practitioner who was bed-bound with her limbs tied to the four corners of the bed. A wooden board was placed on her body with three heavy metal pipes to weigh it down-- one on her forehead, one on her torso, and one on her ankle. Four inmates balanced on top of the metal pipes as if they were sitting on a seesaw. -
The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners at Hubei Province Brainwashing Centre
2011-07-28Ms. Liu Limin was detained in the Hewan Forced Labour Camp in Wuhan City for one and a half years, and was put in forced labour again in June 2010. While there she was tortured with beatings, standing for extended periods, sleep deprivation, not being given any food, and solitary confinement. After serving the term, she was not released and instead was immediately sent to the Hubei Brainwashing Centre. She was again deprived of sleep, and forced to stand for long periods. Ms. Liu was also force-fed and shocked with electric batons, leaving bruises. She had difficulty straightening her back when walking and was so weak her eyesight deteriorated considerably. -
Two Falun Gong Practitioners Sentenced in Changzhou
2011-07-27Practitioners Mr. Xu Ming and Ms. Liao Yongge were arrested by officers on the afternoon of May 26th, 2010. On June 29th, Mr. Xu Ming was sentenced to four and a half years in prison, while Ms. Liao Yongge was sentenced to three years in prison by Tiannin Court of Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province. On June 23rd this year, another practitioner Mr. Yang Chanrong was sentenced to six years in prison. -
Cai Yuechan and Cai Yuchang Tried in Shantou City, Guangdong Province
2011-07-27Police arrested practitioners Cai Yuechan and Cai Yuchang on December 4th, 2010 in Shantou City, and took them to the Tuopu Detention Centre. The practitioners were forced to appear in Longhu District Court on June 3rd. Ms. Cai Yuechan and Ms. Cai Yuchang went to meet someone in the manufacturing business on December 4th, 2010, in Shantou. They were meeting a businessman to give him a Shen Yun Performing Art DVD. However, when they got there, the local police and the Procuratorate were waiting for them because the man had set them up and notified the authorities. -
Mr. Zhou Hongbo from Daqing City Deceived and Arrested
2011-07-26Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Hongbo was deceived into going to the Hujitumo Town Central Elementary School by deputy principal Yao Juxiang, Mr. Zhou's former classmate, on July 12th, 2011. Yao collaborated with the town's judicial bureau and the police station to lure Mr. Zhou to the old Daqing City Party School to be persecuted. Previously, in 2007, Mr. Zhou was arrested again as he spoke with people about Falun Gong. Police held him in the Taikang Town Detention Centre for eight days, and then took him to the Suihua Forced Labour Camp for a one-year term. -
Retired Teacher Still Detained by Chifeng Police, Inner Mongolia
2011-07-26On the morning of June 5th, retired teacher Ms. Wu Guohui and her husband Guo Wen were shopping at the local market. Ms. Wu was arrested by the local police and then taken to the police department. Mr. Guo was arrested at his home. That afternoon, the couple was taken to the local detention centre. Mr. Guo was detained for 12 days and then released June 16th on bail; he is now awaiting his trial. The police also extorted 20,000 yuan from him, which they claimed as bail money. -
The Tragic Story of Practitioner Mr. Tang Yi's Death
2011-07-25Mr. Tang Yi was sent to the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp for a long period of time because of practising Falun Gong. He was released in November 2008 after being diagnosed with bone tuberculosis. He passed away on September 22nd, 2009 at the age of 46. He wrote about his experience in the labour camp: "I had been on a hunger strike for 32 days before I was taken to the labour camp. I was very weak. Nonetheless, I was often pushed and held down on the floor. They grabbed my injured hand and dragged me over the floor, back and forth, which caused dislocation of my joints. I suffered from violent force-feedings. They slapped or punched me during the force-feedings. The feeding tube was difficult to insert through my nose, and made my nose bleed after several attempts." -
Mr. Yang Wanming Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison for Exposing the Persecution
2011-07-25After he began practising Falun Gong, Mr. Yang Wanming, around 50 years old, recovered from several illnesses. In 2009, he exposed the persecution of Falun Gong and was arrested. Without his family being notified, he was secretly tried in August 2009 and sentenced to ten years of imprisonment. When his family learned of his sentence, they appealed multiple times, and finally, after tremendous effort and hardship, his prison sentence was reduced to seven years. Yang is currently detained in Baoanzhi Prison. During his detention, his home has been ransacked by police several times. In prison, he was also pressured to give up his practice. -
Three Falun Gong Practitioners Detained in Brainwashing Centre in Chengdu City
2011-07-24The so-called “Chengdu City Legal Education Centre” is actually the Xinjin Brainwashing Centre. Since 2003, over 1,000 Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted there. Within the past three to four months, at least 40 to 50 Falun Gong practitioners were detained there and forced to undergo brainwashing. Besides brainwashing, the Xinjin Brainwashing Centre carries out torture and pressures “confessions” from Falun Gong practitioners. Three Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province on June 9th and then sent to the brainwashing centre.
