  • Vicious Conduct of Officials at the Qinglongshan Brainwashing Centre in Jiansanjiang, Heilongjiang Province

    Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Qi Chunxia, and Ms. Yu Guorong were recently detained in the Qinglongshan Brainwashing Centre. Ms. Qi had been arrested twice before, first in 2005 for distributing Falun Gong informational materials, and second to the Qinglongshan Brainwashing Centre on January 16th, 2011. When police arrested Ms. Yu they dragged her into the police vehicle without giving her time to put on her shoes and trousers and took her to the Jiansanjiang Brainwashing Centre.
  • Mr. Yang Chanrong's Lawyer Ejected From Courtroom During Trial in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province

    On June 23rd, the Zhonglou District Court in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province tried Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Chanrong. Mr. Yang was arrested by Changzhou 610 Office agents on May 26th, 2010. He was brutally tortured for over 14 days in order to extort a confession. During the trial, Mr. Yang was accused of downloading Falun Gong materials online and giving others MP3 files that contained information about Falun Gong. When Mr. Yang's lawyer said that the judge needed to uphold the laws and punish only the wicked, the judge gave him a warning and then removed the attorney from the court.
  • Two Practitioners from Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province Arrested and Incarcerated at a Brainwashing Facility

    Falun Gong Practitioners Ms. He Qiuling and Ms. Wang Xinlian were arrested on the morning of June 9th by officers from the Baoqiao Police Department. The two practitioners have been subjected to arrests and detention numerous times over the past ten years for conducting themselves according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Their families have been frequently harassed, been placed under great pressure and have suffered mental torment.
  • Fifty Days of Persecution Suffered by Ms. Zhu Chunlian from Wuhan

    On April 19th - 20th, 2011, over ten Falun Gong practitioners from Wuhan were arrested and had their homes ransacked, including Ms. Zhu Chunlian. She recounts: "The officials confiscated my personal property, including Falun Gong books and materials, computers, and other items. They handcuffed me and took me to a brainwashing centre where I was detained and interrogated in an isolation room. A police officer forced me to undergo sleep deprivation for three consecutive days and nights. My handcuffs were never removed. I was also forced to stand for extended durations. As a result, I was fatigued and my legs were extremely swollen."
  • Exposing the Brainwashing Centre at the Jingzhouyuan Hotel in Dahao Village, Tongzhou District, Beijing

    The Jingzhouyuan Hotel is a place the rich and powerful often visit to entertain others and to have fun. However, this building is also the site of a private prison the Chinese Communists use to detain and to brainwash Falun Gong practitioners. For each suite of the hotel there are typically three security guards, two medical professionals, and two “assistants.” The assistants are often former practitioners who were brainwashed. They often pretend to care about the practitioners, keeping them company and chatting with them. However, they deftly use brainwashing techniques to interfere with the practitioners' belief in Falun Gong, while the threat of brutality is ever present from the guards and medical staff.
  • Ms. Liu Yuqin Arrested, Her Visually-Impaired Husband and 80-Year-Old Mother Left on Their Own

    Ms. Liu Yuqin, 53, was arrested by police when visiting a Falun Gong practitioner friend on June 25th. She has been held in the Yaojia Detention Centre for 15 days. Ms. Liu's husband has been visually impaired since 1999, and her mother, who is 80 years old, lives with them and their child. The care of the entire family fell on Ms. Liu's shoulders. She is the mainstay of the family. Ms. Liu's family has never received either a formal or an informal notice regarding Ms. Liu's arrest from any police station or governmental department.
  • Ms. Li Yushu Brutally Beaten by Inmates in Heilongjiang Women's Prison

    Ms. Li Yushu, 62, was subjected to a year of forced labour for practising Falun Gong in 2000, then sentenced to twelve years in prison in 2002. She has been imprisoned in Heilongjiang Women's Prison since January 2003. In February 2001 guards beat, kicked and stomped on Ms. Li. Minghui website [Chinese version of the Falun Gong website Clearwisdom.net] has reported on the violence and torture against Ms. Li in the prison several times. The latest report was in September 2010.
  • Physician, 60, Attempts to Sue the Forced Labour Administrative Committee

    Practitioner Ms. Nan Tianping hired a lawyer in Beijing on June 20th, 2011, to sue the Forced Labour Committee of the Beijing Municipal Government in the Western District Court for sending her to a forced labour camp. However, the court refused to register the case. When the lawyer went to the court he was told: "This is a political issue, so the court will not register it. There is no law to deal with this case.”
  • The Persecution I Saw and Experienced in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    On January 27th, 2010, I was arrested by police for practising Falun Gong. Because I refused to tell them my name, they beat me. My mouth was bleeding, and both sides of my chest were severely injured as a result of being hit and kicked. I could not turn over in bed at night, and it was even hard to breathe. In March 2010, I was sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. Guards tied me to a “stretching bed” torture device and began to stretch me while blowing cigarette smoke in my face. My face was covered with tears. They increased the tension, and the pain was excruciating.
  • A Personal Account of the Persecution of Ms. Deng Lijuan

    On July 20th, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong. My husband and I went to Beijing to appeal for justice but were arrested and sent back to Yushu City. We were held in the detention centre and tortured for two months before being released. At that time, my six-year-old son was at home alone, without with no one to cook for him or take care of him. In 2002 police again arrested my husband and I. I was tortured in the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City for one year and my husband was tortured for three years. He died on April 7th, 2004, three days after he returned home.
  • Practitioners Arrested in Shenzhen City

    Five Falun Gong practitioners were arrested by the Shenzhen City police on June 21st. Mr. Liu Xiaoguang, 33, is being held in the Longgang Detention Centre. When Mr. Liu’s aunt arrived in the detention centre, she was told that she could not see him, and that Mr. Liu was facing a minimum three-year term for practising Falun Gong.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Arrested for Having “Too Much Traffic at Your Home”

    Ms. Shi Jing was arrested by Daqing city police recently for having “too much traffic” at her home. On June 21st, police went to arrest Falun Gong practitioner Shi Jing. She wasn't home, so they ransacked her home instead. When she heard what was happening, she went back to her house. Seeing what the officers were doing, she asked, “Why are you ransacking my home? Do you have a search warrant?” Police officer Chen said, “We don't need a search warrant to arrest people like you.” She was then arrested and taken to the Daqing city first detention centre.
  • Zhao Guirong and Gou Zhengxia from Xianyang, Shaanxi Again Detained

    While practitioners Zhao Guirong and Gou Zhengxia were distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in Xianyang City on July 4th, they were reported to police and then taken away by police to the police station. At night, police officers broke into Ms. Zhao's home and confiscated Falun Gong DVDs, Falun Gong informational materials, and Falun Gong books. Previously, in September 2005, while Ms. Zhao and Ms. Gou Zhengxia were again publicly distributing Falun Gong informational materials they were reported to the authorities. They were sent to Shaanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp for three years.
  • Ms. Zhang Xiangfen, a Falun Gong Practitioner from Anshan City, Liaoning Province Sentenced

    On June 19th, the Tiedong District Court of Anshan City, Liaoning Province, sentenced Ms. Zhang Xiangfen to a three-year prison term without the presence of any factual evidence. On February 14th, 2011, Ms. Zhang Xiangfen spoke to a a relative at a nursing home about the beauty and goodness of Falun Gong. As a result, she was arrested by police and detained the Anshan No. 1 Detention Centre. During her trial her defence lawyer stated he had comprehensively analysed the laws in China and found no grounds in the law to criminally prosecute Ms. Zhang Xiangfen for her belief in Falun Gong.
  • Mr. Dai Xianxi Detained Since May, Younger Brother in Japan Calls for Help

    Mr. Dai Xianxi from Dongguan City, Guangdong Province was arrested on May 26th, as he distributed information about Falun Gong. Officer Huang Guihong and others from the Dongshan Police Station in Qishi Town made the arrest. More than 40 days have passed since his arrest and Mr. Dai's family hasn't been able to get any information about him. His young brother who works in Japan is calling for help to rescue him.
