  • Ms. Huang Duohong from Hunan Arrested While Visiting a Friend

    In August 2011, Ms. Huang Duohong went to visit a friend in Changsha and was arrested by local police. She has lost her personal freedom and been held for over 20 days. Ms. Huang is in her thirties. After the suppression of Falun Gong began in July 1999, she was sent to Baimalong Women's Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou, where she was tortured. In September 2002 she was singled out for brutal "transformation," [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] for refusing to renounce her faith. Drug addicts stuffed her mouth with dish rags, viciously slapped her face, and kicked her lower body.
  • Mr. Gu Huaibing and Six Other Practitioners from Sichuan Province Sentenced to Prison Terms

    The Wuhou District Court in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, tried seven practitioners on August 26th. Mr. Gu Huaibing was sentenced to seven years in prison; Mr. Zhou Yaping, two years and four months; Mr. Liao Jianfu, two and a half years; Mr. Zhao Haiping, Mr. Wang Hongbo, Mr. Wang Jianguo, and Ms. Li Xiaoyan were sentenced to three years in prison. The seven practitioners stated that practising Falun Gong is not a crime. They declared their intention to appeal to a higher court. The seven practitioners stated that they were interrogated with physical punishment. Their attorney reasonably refuted and disproved all the evidence provided by the prosecutor and exposed the false evidence fabricated by the police. However, judge Huang Yi sentenced them regardless.
  • Mr. Wang Zhenhui Arrested in Haicheng, Liaoning Province

    While Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Tian Baowei was being subjected to a trial in a Haicheng court on August 26th, Chinese Communist Party police arrested other practitioners outside the court, including Mr. Wang Zhenhui. Mr. Wang's home was subsequently ransacked. His Falun Gong books and personal property were confiscated, including his son’s computer. Currently, Mr. Wang is being held at the Haicheng Detention Centre. His family and friends are extremely concerned about his condition.
  • Tianjin Architect Ms. Li Yanxia Sentenced to Four-Year Prison Term

    On January 13th, 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Yanxia was arrested by officers from Tanggu Domestic Security Division and taken to a detention centre where she was detained for six months. Without informing her family, the court sentenced her to four years in prison. This is the second time she has been sentenced. In 2001, Ms. Li was arrested and sent to prison for two and a half years. She held a hunger strike in prison to protest the persecution and was force-fed by several convicts. She nearly died from suffocation. She was tortured by being made to sit on a stool and stand facing a wall for long periods of time, and listen to and watch propaganda defaming Falun Gong.
  • Yueyang City Practitioners Ms. Cao Meilan and Ms. Cao Xianghui Arrested

    Ms. Cao Meilan, a Falun Gong practitioner and her sister Ms. Cao Xianghui were arrested by the local police on February 24th, and their home was ransacked. Ms. Cao Meilan was arrested again on June 19th and sent to a brainwashing centre. Junshan District 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) stopped their pension payments.
  • I Have Suffered Brutal Torture in Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province

    On October 1st, 2001, I went to Wenhua Square in Changchun City to display a banner exposing the persecution. I was arrested and driven for two hours to an unknown place. Police stripped my clothes off. They pushed me onto the tiger bench and tied my hands on both sides of a bar behind me. They put a metal bar on my chest, one on my thighs and one on my shins. The sides of each bar were fixed onto the bench. My feet were locked with metal hoops, which were fixed and tied onto the bench. Three officers came into the room with electric batons. Two of them grabbed my arms, which were tied behind my back, and forced them over my head. I heard my bones cracking again and again as they broke. The pain was unbearable as they thrust my arms back and forth many times, and I lost consciousness.
  • Cao Dong's Extended Sentence Is About to Expire; the Communist Party Is Threatening to Send Him to a Brainwashing Centre

    On May 21st, 2006, Mr. Cao Dong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Beijing, met with Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, Vice-President of the European Parliament, who was visiting China to investigate the allegations that the CCP was extracting organs from Falun Gong practitioners while they were still alive. Two hours after the meeting, Mr. Cao was arrested by officers from the Public Security Bureau in Beijing. Mr. Cao, whose sentence was extended by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), is set for release on September 28th. However, Tianshui Prison in Gansu Province has boldly stated that if Mr. Cao is unwilling to be “transformed”—to give up practising Falun Gong—he will be transferred to the local brainwashing centre when he leaves prison.
  • Ms. He Lianchun Secretly Given Ten More Years of Imprisonment after Serving Five-Year Sentence

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. He Lianchun from Yunnan Province was secretly sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment in 2009, and is currently detained in the Yunnan Province Second Women's Prison. Because she remained steadfast in her belief in Falun Gong, she was subjected to all kinds of severe tortures, including solitary confinement and the "tiger bench". She went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution, and is now in very poor physical condition. Ms. He was first arrested in 2001 when she distributed Falun Gong materials in Mengzi County. She was subsequently sentenced to five years in the Yunnan Province Second Women's Prison.
  • Ms. Wang Yin Arrested and Taken to a Brainwashing Centre, Elderly Parents Seek Justice

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Yin from Jilin City was arrested at her home by officials and police on August 24th. She was taken to the Shahezi Brainwashing Centre, then to the Xinglongshan Brainwashing Centre in Changchun City on September 1st. Ms. Wang’s parents, who are in their 80s, are suing the Chuanying District 610 Office head, Yang Bingwen, for breaking and entering, detention, and physical abuse. They are demanding that the local procuratorate and relevant authorities place the case on file and begin an immediate investigation.
  • Police in Huanxian, Gansu Province Arrest Ms. Miao Huixia and Her Child Left Alone at Home

    On August 25th, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Miao Huixia was arrested at her workplace by police and taken to Qingcheng Detention Centre. They snatched away her house key and looted her home. Ms. Miao's 14-year-old son was alone at home. Ms. Miao and her husband Mr. Kou have been persecuted many times by Huanxian 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and police. In 2004, Ms. Miao was sentenced to one year and three months of forced labour in Gansu Women's Forced Labour Camp.
  • Mr. Xue Xinde, 57, in Qinghai Province Sentenced to Four Years Imprisonment After Being Tortured

    In a secret hearing the court sentenced Mr. Xue Xinde to a four-year prison term for refusing to give up his belief in Falun Gong. In 2001, Mr. Xue and three other Falun Gong practitioners were forced to parade themselves in public, with placards hanging in front of them that read, “Against law enforcement” and their names. They were paraded along streets throughout the county. They were then taken to Westgate Stadium, which was filled with spectators. They were placed next to murderers and other criminals. In this televised event with tens of millions watching, Mr. Xue and the other three Falun Gong practitioners were called out and denounced. Event coordinators had organized people who misunderstood Falun Gong to publicly defame Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners.
  • Fourteen Practitioners from Qian'an City, Hebei Province, Arrested

    On September 5th, 2011, 14 practitioners were arrested while studying Falun Gong books together. Mr. Li Qinghe, Ms. Li Qingyun, and Ms. Si Fengmin are being held at the Qian'an Detention Centre. Other practitioners' whereabouts are unknown. Officer Pu Yonglai has been with the domestic security team since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999. He has been involved in almost all the instances of persecution of Qian'an practitioners, as many as 300 cases. He has often tortured practitioners brutally.
  • Arrest and Detention of Ms. Zhu Chunju from Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang Province

    On August 16th, police arrested Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Yang Zhongyou and Ms. Zhu Chunju (58 years old) and sent them to the Second Detention Centre. In addition, they arrested Mr. Yang Zhongyou's sister, Ms. Yang Zhongqin, that same day. Their families have been persecuted over the past ten-plus years. Their three children were held in a forced labour camp, and the couple was detained multiple times.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Wang Yin Subjected to Torture, Arrested Again

    Ms. Wang Yin was arrested on August 24th, by police. She is being held in the brainwashing centre. Ms. Wang has been on hunger strike for the last five days and is now in critical condition. Ms. Wang has refused to give up Falun Gong and, as a result, has been arrested six times in the last 12 years. She was tortured many times while in detention. When she went on a hunger strike, she was force-fed with high-concentration saltwater. Once, the force-feeding tube was pushed into her lung, causing her to lose consciousness.
  • Ms. Huang Ying from Shanghai Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Huang Ying was sentenced to three years in prison by the Pudong Court in Shanghai on August 30th. During the proceedings, the public prosecutor first stated there was solid evidence and the case was serious. His first witness gave false testimony against Ms. Huang. However Ms. Huang's attorney pointed out that, in fact, the evidence was not sufficient and the charges were not proven. Ms. Huang also stated in the court that she never signed any statements and did not acknowledge any charges the prosecutor made against her.
