  • Chinese Spies in Finland Threaten the Acquaintances of Falun Gong Practitioners

    My name is Jin Zhaoyu, and I live in northern Finland. In 2008, my mother Chen Zhenping was sentenced to eight years in prison for practising Falun Gong. She was sentenced by Jinshui District Court in Zhengzhou, Henan Province and she is currently incarcerated at Xinxiang Women's Prison in Henan. I have been appealing for my mother’s release and as a result, the Chinese government has been harassing me relentlessly. Chinese spies recently contacted one of my friends here in Finland. She was absolutely terrified. I want to let everyone know about this, hoping that people will extend a helping hand.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Ronglan from Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, Is on a Hunger Strike to Protest Her Treatment

    Ms. Li Ronglan was sentenced to Hohhot Women's Forced Labour Camp for two years in 2002 because she would not give up her belief in Falun Gong. When the guards were trying to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] her, they suspended her from a window or between two beds and did not let even the tips of her toes touch the ground. She was left like this for more than 45 days and nights. The guards often shocked her with an electric baton, slapped her face, and kicked her in the abdomen repeatedly until she lost consciousness. They also stuffed socks into her mouth and then sealed it with tape. The guards also instigated other inmates to brutally beat her. Ms. Li was arrested again on October 10th, 2011. She is now in Wudan Town Detention Centre and has begun a hunger strike.
  • Wuhan City 610 Office Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners Before the 100-Year Anniversary of Xinhai Revolution - Part 1

    The 100-year anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution took place on October 10th, 2011. Shortly before the anniversary, the 610 Office in Wuhan orchestrated the arrests of nearly 90 Falun Gong practitioners in Wuhan. Practitioners were told to write guarantees to renounce practising Falun Gong. When they refused, they faced threats to be sent to a forced brainwashing centre or a detention centre. In some communities every Falun Gong practitioner was forced to write the guarantee.
  • Chief Accountant Ms. Hu Dongling from Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, Arrested and Tortured During Interrogation

    While on a business trip on August 22nd, that night Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hu Dongling visited practitioner Ms. Li Guiyun. Several police officers broke in and arrested her, Ms. Li, and six other practitioners who were also present. It was learned later that the police acted on tips received. During the arrest the police showered Ms. Hu with kicks and punches, leaving her bruised and with a severe injury to her lower back. When she refused to be led away, they dragged her outside and twisted her arms behind her back. After taking her to Baoquanling Police Department, the police tied Ms. Hu up to a metal chair, and Wang Fudong interrogated her through the night.
  • Mr. Ma Zifu and His Wife from Songyuan City, Jilin Province, Covertly Sentenced to Lengthy Prison Terms

    Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Ma Zifu and his wife, Ms. Hua Yuru were covertly sentenced to ten years and eleven years in prison, respectively for practising Falun Gong. Ms. Hua was arrested on January 29th, 2010, by police. Her husband, Mr. Ma, was arrested on October 26th, 2010. The couple was taken to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp.
  • Elderly Ms. Sun Zhuoying Sentenced Again

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Zhouying, 64, was arrested on April 24th, 2011 and detained in the Pudong New District Detention Centre. It was heard that she was sentenced to five years in prison. Her family members were not informed about her trial and have not received any notification of a verdict or sentence. This is the second time that Ms. Sun has been sentenced to prison. She was also sentenced to a forced labour camp after serving the first prison sentence.
  • Wuhan City Authorities Plot to Indict Nine Falun Gong Practitioners

    Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to openly persecute Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, practitioners in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, have endured extreme persecution. According to incomplete statistics, approximately 100 local practitioners were arrested this year alone. Wuhan police seized seven practitioners on April 20th, 2011, and two more on May 5th. Wuhan City Police Department officials filed a request with the Wuchang District Procuratorate, ordering them to indict the nine newly arrested practitioners for violating the so-called “Article 300 of the Criminal Law.”
  • Ms. Wan Xiaohui's Account of Her Persecution at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    I was taken to the eastern sector of the labour camp every day in mid-May, 2010. They tried to brainwash me by filling my mind with propaganda and telling me lies about Falun Gong. I was thrown into a cell and forced to listen to audio recordings defaming Falun Gong on an mp3 player. In late October 2010, the guards at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp began a new round of persecution. One morning in November, I was taken to the eastern sector, where they continued to bombard me with lies and propaganda. They used all sorts of ways to try to brainwash me. I was beaten, shouted at, forced to sit on a cold floor, and to kneel down for long periods of time. They also poured boiling water onto my neck.
  • Chongqing Couple Zhang Quanliang and Liu Zhilan Arrested Again

    On October 11th, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhang Quanliang and his wife Ms. Liu Zhilan were arrested by police while on their way to work. Their whereabouts are unknown. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Liu's family has endured numerous arrests, trials, and forced labour. Ms. Liu's mother Ms. Gu was sentenced to three years in 2000; Ms. Liu was placed in a forced labour camp for one year in 2005; Mr. Zhang was placed in a forced labour camp for three years in 2000 and was severely tortured – nearly to death, resulting in the deafness of his right ear. He was arrested again in December 2005 and sentenced to five years of imprisonment.
  • Retired Post Office Worker Arrested

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qian Houbao, 68, was arrested on September 28th. A few days later his friends still hadn't found out where he was being held because Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities would not release the information. During the 2011 Chinese New Year, the police went to practitioners' homes one by one to photograph them without their consent. Now, almost all of the practitioners living in Chaoyang residential area have been photographed. When practitioners refused to cooperate with the police, the officers took to hiding near the gate of the residential area or near the practitioners' homes so they could take the photos secretly.
  • Ms. Liang Zuorong and Her Sister Arrested in Aershan City, Inner Mongolia

    Ms. Liang Zuorong and Ms. Liu Caixia were arrested on September 29th by police. Ms. Liang's sister, Liang Zuojuan, went to see policeman Chen Guodong to reason with him and ask for the return of 5,000 yuan that he extorted from them. Chen refused to admit any wrongdoing, but when Liang Zuojuan said she had two witnesses that saw him take the money, Chen just said, “This is the wrong place to talk about it,” and then left. On October 9th, Chen went to Liang Zuojuan's home eleven police officers and arrested her and her husband. The police ransacked her home but did not find any evidence that she was a Falun Gong practitioner.
  • Several Practitioners Arrested in Macheng City, Hubei Province

    On October 13th, several police station made a large-scale arrest of Falun Gong practitioners in Macheng City. They sent them to Macheng City Detention Centre. Around 10:00 p.m. someone called for Mr. Zhu Changkui outside of his home and Mr. Zhu's wife opened the door. About a dozen strangers broke into the house. They first seized Mr. Wu Shuangxi, who was visiting at the time, and took him downstairs. They ordered Mr. Zhu and his family not to move or speak. Then they ransacked the house and confiscated Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings. After that, they took Mr. Zhu away.
  • Artist Mr. Si Deli Arrested Again, His Elderly Mother Grief-Stricken

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Si Deli, an Associate Professor at the Shihe District Cultural Centre, was arrested on June 7th, 2011 by police and workplace staff. At present he is still detained at the Xinyang First Detention Centre. Mr. Si's mother, almost 100 years old, was grief stricken after the arrest. Because of practising Falun Gong, Mr. Si has been constantly persecuted by the 610 Office agents and officers from the Domestic Security Division. He was sentenced to forced labour twice and once to prison, where he endured brutal torture.
  • Ms. Liu Fangping Forcibly Taken to Brainwashing Centre

    On October 10th, police barged into Ms. Liu Fangping's workplace in an attempt to apprehend her. Ms. Liu's superior was opposed to the arrest and criticized the officers in hopes of deterring them. The officers withdrew without carrying out the arrest. On October 12th, the officers once again entered Ms. Liu's workplace with an order from the Political and Judiciary Committee. After pressuring her superior, they forcibly removed Ms. Liu. Ms. Liu was taken to the Wujiahuayuan Brainwashing Centre. Ms. Liu's husband is also being detained in Jinshi Prison. He was sentenced to serve three years detention in 2009.
  • The Police Persecutes Talented Practitioners and Sentences them to Additional Prison Terms During Forced Labour

    Ms. Wang Chunrong, 65, is CEO of the Xincheng Accounting Firm in Dalian City. After she started practising Falun Gong, her firm didn't falsify accounts, and her employees are upright and have a good relationship. Her firm was highly regarded among clients and her business was on the rise. However, Ms. Wang Chunrong was arrested in August 2007 and Dalian Xincheng Accounting Firm was forcibly closed down. More than 30 practitioners were arrested on the same day. In September 2009, Ms. Wang was sentenced to two years and three months of forced labour and sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City. In December 2009, the police transferred her to Yaojia Detention Centre in Dalian City. She was sentenced to three years in prison there, starting from the day she was taken to Yaojia Detention Centre. All the previous dates she had been detained didn't count.
