Finland: More Activities from Falun Gong Practitioners at Helsinki Cultural Festival

Subsequent to the cultural night held on August 22nd at Esplanade Park, a cultural atmosphere continued to grow in the park. On August 30th, prior to the end of the Cultural Festival, Falun Gong practitioners in Helsinki again demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises and raised awareness about the CCP's nine years of atrocious persecution. -

On the 6th of August 2008, representatives of New Tang Dynasty TV (NTDTV) and supporters held a press conference in front of the headquarters of Eutelsat’s Offices in the 15th district of Paris. Eutelsat was called upon to immediately restore NTDTV’s broadcasting signals to China and Asia. -
Member of the European Parliament Requests Action from the EU over the Eutelsat Incident

The first Plenary Session of the European Parliament was convened in Brussels from the 1st to the 4th of September after its summer recess. Continuous concerns were expressed by the European Parliament Members over the incident of shutting down NTDTV television broadcast signals into Asia by Eutelsat. "As China’s repression becomes more widely known and more widely condemned, as our children ask us what we did about Communism’s violence, oppression, and inexorable ascendancy, we hope that Eutelsat will be remembered well. For the sake of so many suppressed Chinese people, we hope that they may access truth, rather than propaganda. We hope that Eutelsat will play its part, not kowtow to Communism, not be complicit in the suppression of truth, freedom, and human rights, and resume NTDTV’s signals immediately." -
Quotidiano.net (Italy): Appeal to Italian MPs to Rescue Falun Gong Practitioner Zhao Lizhuan
2008-09-11On August, 13th the website Quotidiano.net in Italy published a letter from a reader by the name of Zhao Lili. In the letter, he appealed to Italian Members of Parliament to rescue his brother Zhao Lizhuan, who is enduring persecution due to practising Falun Gong. He writes, "In late June, 2000, my brother was kidnapped by the police from his work place and illegally detained at the Fula'erji detention centre for 45 days. To force him to give up his belief in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, the police hung him up and cruelly beat his head and body with thick wooden sticks". -
Italian Newspaper Corriere Della Sera: EU questions Eutelsat
2008-09-10On August 22nd, Italy’s largest daily newspaper Corriere Della Sera published Nino Luca’s article entitled “Chinese free speech, NTDTV broadcast blocked, EU questions Eutelsat”. The article said that the NTDTV broadcast signal to Asia has been blocked since June 16th. For nearly three months, NTDTV's broadcast cannot be seen in the Asian region. It is believed that, through its Ambassador to Italy, the Chinese Communist regime places the pressure on Eutelsat and this resulted in NTDTV broadcast being blocked. -
Ukraine: Practitioners Protest against the CCP's Persecution at the Chinese Consulate in Odessa

On August 7th, practitioners protested at the Chinese Consulate in Odessa, condemning the CCP's cruel persecution of Falun Gong. They also disclosed to the people of Ukraine how the CCP violates human rights under cover of an apparently "harmonious" society and illegally arrested a large number of Falun Gong practitioners in the run up to the Olympics. -

The aim of the festival was to promote awareness of natural living. Italian News Agency Apcom: Eutelsat Blocks TV Signal for Economic Interests
2008-09-06On August 6th, Italian news agency Apcom reported that the Italian Falun Gong Association exposed that Eutelsat was pressured by Beijing and interrupted the broadcast by NTDTV, the world’s largest independent Chinese TV station. From June 16th, millions of Chinese families have not been able to watch NTDTV's broadcast. Eutelsat explained that, due to technical failures on the W5 satellite, they had to shut down the transponders. -

Ireland: Practitioners Condemn the Chinese Communist Regime’s Persecution

On August 16th, 2008, Irish Falun Gong practitioners rallied at the GPO in Dublin to condemn the Chinese Communist regime’s escalation of the persecution against Falun Gong under the pretext of hosting the Olympics. They also called on international society to be concerned about the persecution of Falun Gong in China while holding the Olympic Games.
