Husband and Wife Sentenced to Eight Years of Imprisonment
2011-12-15
Mr. Liu Xuegang and Ms. Zhong Li, a husband and wife from Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province were arrested on May 14th, 2009, and sentenced to eight years in prison by the Jiguan District Court on November 10th, 2009. The couple had previously experienced persecution before they eventually got married in 2007. They are currently subjected to long-term incarceration. -
Seven Falun Gong Practitioners Held in Nanchang County Detention Centre, Jiangxi Province
2011-12-15Seven female practitioners from Nanchang City in Jiangxi Province were arrested on the morning of September 25th, when they were seen handing out Falun Gong DVDs in Dutou Township, Nanchang County. We were first informed that all of the practitioners would be sent to a forced labour camp, but were then told that Ms. Hu would be sentenced to prison and the others would be sent to a forced labour camp. -
Senior Couple's Home Ransacked; Their Daughter Criticises the Police Officers and They Retreat
2011-12-14Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Ma Yuefen and his wife, Ms. Lu Fenglan, live in Jinchang City, Gansu Province. Recently their home was ransacked again by officers from the Jinchang City Domestic Security Division, who also planned to arrest Mr. Ma. The couple did not cooperate and tried to kindly persuade the officers to leave them alone. Their daughter prevented the police from making an arrest and protected her father. The police then left. -
Ms. Zhu Chunju from Fangzheng County Sentenced to Six Years in Prison
2011-12-14Ms. Zhu Chunju was taken away from her home by police on August 16th. It was recently reported that she has been sentenced to six years in prison. By the time her family was informed of her sentence, the deadline for appeal had passed. Ms. Zhu Chunju and her husband, as well as their three children, started to practise Falun Gong in 1998. During the past decade, all three children were sent to forced labour camps. She and her husband were repeatedly detained. Everyone in the family was persecuted physically, mentally, and financially by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). -
Sun Jianfei and Other Police Officers from Suihua, Heilongjiang Province, Use Extortion to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners
2011-12-14Sun Jianfei was head of the Chunlei Police Station in the Beilin District of Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province. He was transferred to the Beilin Police Department this year, in charge of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. He spared no effort to cooperate with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in persecuting those good people who believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Sun Jianfei and other agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) monitor, follow, and extort money from Falun Gong practitioners. -
Ms. Wu Liming from Nenjiang County, Heilongjiang Province Detained--Family Denied Visitation
2011-12-14Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Liming has lived away from home since 2002 to avoid the persecution. In June 2011, she was arrested and sentenced to two years of forced labour. She was transferred to the Jiusan Detention Centre in September. Three months have now passed, and no one knows her current situation. Neither is her family allowed to visit her. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Cao Ruitang Forcibly Taken to a Brainwashing Centre
2011-12-13Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cao Ruitang, in his fifties, and his wife own a store. On November 22nd, about 20 police officers barged into the store. Some of the officers wore police uniforms, some wore ballistic vests and others were in plain clothes. Mr. Cao attempted to talk to them rationally when a group of officers rushed in shouting: “Handcuff him!” and “Carry him away!” Mr. Cao was then forcibly carried to a vehicle and taken away. Mr. Cao's wife called the Guangyang Police Department and asked for Mr. Cao's whereabouts. The answer she received was: “He has been sent to the brainwashing centre.” -
Elderly Woman Commits Suicide After Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Officials Deceive Her to Arrest Her Daughter
2011-12-13A tragic event happened recently in Yaodianzi village, located in Yishui county, Shandong province. Ms. Huang Chengmei is a Falun Gong practitioner. Her mother committed suicide by drinking poison because Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials asked her the whereabouts of her daughter and lied to her that nothing would happen to her daughter. The officials then abducted her daughter and sentenced her to two years of forced labour. Ms. Huang's mother full of guilt and regret sadly took her own life. -
Yongchuan Police Persecute Retired Cadre Mr. Su Junru
2011-12-13Mr. Su Junru, 76, was recently persecuted by police and brutally tortured at the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp. As a result, he cannot walk properly. On September 30th, several police officers went to Mr. Su’s home and confiscated Falun Gong books, and materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. In November Mr. Su received notification that he was sentenced to two years of forced labour. His family is preparing to apply for reconsideration of the sentencing. -
Ms. Li Weiling and Ms. Wu Xiaofeng from Shanghai Sentenced to Imprisonment
2011-12-13Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Li Weiling and Ms. Wu Xiaofeng from Shanghai were sentenced to four years and three and a half years of imprisonment, respectively. Li Weiling is the youngest daughter of Yu Peiying from Shanghai. Yu's eldest daughter, Li Weihong, who was also a practitioner, died as a result of physical abuse and torture during her detention. Ms. Li Weiling and her mother have been persecuted by Shanghai 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) agents. -
Jiao Lin Cruelly Tortured at Dongling Prison in Shenyang City
2011-12-12Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiao Lin was transferred to Dongling Prison in Shenyang on August 16th. He refused to cooperate with the guards or wear the prison uniform. He shouted “Falun Gong is good and for this he was cruelly tortured. When his family saw him, he was emaciated and barely able to walk. The guards threatened that if he did not give up his belief and was in danger, they wouldn't be responsible. Jiao Lin was arrested by Chinese Communist Party agents in September 2010, when he was explaining the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution. He was tortured by Cao Dejun and other guards at the Fengcheng Detention Centre. He became critically ill and was released. -
More Than Ten Practitioners from Suining County, Jiangsu Province, Arrested
2011-12-12On the morning of November 11th, 2011, officers from the Suining County Domestic Security Division, Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, arrested more than ten practitioners as well as a non-practitioner. Those arrested are being held in the Suining County Detention Centre. Six of those detained are in their 60s and 70s. These elderly practitioners are highly regarded by their neighbours, because they are kind and friendly and willing to help others. The police didn't follow any legal procedures or inform the families of the arrested so that clothing could be delivered to them. They took turns interrogating and torturing the detained practitioners and deprived them of food. They didn't inform the families about the arrests until November 15th. -
Three Female Falun Gong Practitioners from Linyi, Shandong Province, Arrested and Tortured
2011-12-12Around October 14th, Ms. Bo Guiqin and Ms. Chen Muxiu from the Lanshan District in Linyi City, Shandong Province, rode on an electric-powered tricycle driven by Ms. Mu Hongling to distribute Falun Gong materials in the Luozhuang District of Linyi. They were reported to the police and arrested by police. Police ransacked Ms. Bo's home and Ms. Chen's home. Ms. Bo and Ms. Chen were detained in the Linyi Detention Centre first and then transferred to a brainwashing centre. It was recently learned that the three practitioners were each sentenced to one year of forced labour. -
The Brutality of Shen Jianwei and Other Guards at the Xuchang No. 3 Forced Labour Camp in Henan Province
2011-12-12Shen Jianwei, 53, is the political head of a division at the Xuchang No. 3 Forced Labour Camp in Henan Province. During the persecution of Falun Gong, many steadfast practitioners who refused to renounce Falun Gong were subjected to severe physical abuse and torture at his hands. Mr. Zhao Yongzhong was taken to the forced labour camp on December 28th, 2002. He held a protest hunger strike for more than a month, and was often brutally force-fed. Inmates frequently physically and verbally abused him. The long-term severe torture and abuse mentally devastated Mr. Zhao, and he has become disoriented. Practitioners Mr. Yao Sanzhong and Mr. Li Jian died as a result of the persecution. -
Mr. Qin Yueming Persecuted to Death, His Wife and Daughter Arrested
2011-12-11Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qin Yueming, a Falun Gong practitioner died on February 26th 2011, as a result of persecution in Jiamusi Prison. Mr. Qin’s family has since been appealing and asking the government to punish the perpetrators, and to be compensated. However, instead of taking action on their claim, officials from Harbin arrested Mr. Qin’s wife, Ms. Wang Xiuqing, and his daughter, Qin Hailong, on November 13th.
