Mail is private, and laws forbidding others from opening, withholding, or destroying personal mail are common worldwide. But inside the Chinese labour camps, guards can violate this law at will. They have become the first readers of all Falun Dafa practitioners' mail. If they think a particular letter will not "help" a practitioner's brainwashing they will withhold the letter and never tell the practitioner about it. Sometimes they black out certain sentences in a letter before giving it to the recipient. The only contents they allow practitioners to read are those they think can help the practitioners to accept the brainwashing, such as family members not able to bear the pressure under the persecution, asking practitioners to give up, children missing their parents, a husband wants a divorce, their elderly parents are sick, etc. -
Practitioners Persecuted in Suihua Forced Labour Camp, Heilongjiang Province
2007-02-16Practitioner Mr. Li Yequan went on a hunger strike for over ten months in 2006. He was not released until he was reduced to less than 100 pounds. The guards tortured him numerous times during his hunger strike. On one occasion, guard Gao Zhonghai shocked him with electric batons; guard Diao Xuesong beat him with fists; guard Zeng Dingjun burned his fingers with a lighter. Criminal inmate Ma Dacheng poured 47 buckets of water on Mr. Peng Jianpu as a method of torture. -

2007-02-14The labour camp carries out systematic and continuous mental torment of practitioners. The camp staff observes the practitioners' emotions, and studies the practitioners' thoughts and actions with the evil motives and the eyes of professional trainers. They probe the practitioners' hopes and wants at the labour camp, and every practitioner's willpower and endurance, their personality, strength and weakness, hobbies and pet peeves, and things that make them happy or sad. They also have detailed information on every practitioner's academic profile, career profile, work places and achievements. They know everything about the practitioners' parents, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, children and relatives, and so on. -
Recent Persecution Against Falun Gong Practitioners at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province
2007-02-14On December 5th, 2006, Ms. Cui Defeng was reported by Inspector Xue Dan because "Falun Dafa is Good" was embroidered on the inside of her coat. Group leader Ren Huaiping and Wang Shuzheng cuffed her wrists to a bed, tied her legs with cloth strips, slapped her face and denied her food and toilet use. Wang Shuzheng kicked Ms. Cui Defeng in the face, and she wasn't released until the evening. Her arms, legs and face were swollen from the beatings. -
Recent Persecution at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2007-02-13In September 2006, the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp "borrowed" a gang of guards from several other places. These guards colluded with the local Masanjia female guards to torture, using excruciating means, the practitioners who refused to be "reformed." The guards handcuffed practitioners to two metal beds, stretching their hands as much as possible in the process. Some practitioners' hands were bound to their calves, forcing them to bend down without the ability to stand straight or sit down. Lawyer from Jinan City, Shandong Province, Mr. Liu Ruping, is Tortured at Wangcun Forced Labour Camp
2007-02-12Mr. Liu was sent to the No. 2 Forced Labour Camp (Wangcun Forced Labour Camp), after publishing an article entitled, "Stop the Brutal Brainwashing of Falun Gong Practitioners. He was subjected to brutal torture. Mr. Liu was forced to sit on a small bench in the freezing cold hallway from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. After an extended period of time like this, his buttocks were bleeding and torn flesh stuck to his trousers. However, the guards did not even allow him to take a shower or wash his clothes. -
Women's Division of the Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp (Heilongjiang Province) Brutally Tortures Falun Gong Practitioners
2007-02-11As soon as the guards had selected a victim for torture, that person would be subjected to a very cruel torture method, called the "forced back-bend" position. This is an extremely painful torture. One arm reaches down the back from behind the head and the other hand meets it from the lower back. The two hands are then cuffed together to the bedside. The victim is forced to sit on the floor in a right angle and not allowed to bend the legs. While being subjected to this torture method, guards and criminal inmates constantly twisted and pulled the victim's hands, resulting in excruciating pain. The hands swell within a short time and the handcuffs cut into the wrists. The victim is short of breath, suffers accelerated heart beat, and is soaked with perspiration. -
How Practitioners Are Persecuted in the Second Forced Labour Camp in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province
2007-02-11The second group often casually prolongs the sentences of the practitioners. They often do not inform the practitioners beforehand and use excuses such as "practitioners did not listen to their orders," "they practised the exercises," "they went on hunger strikes" and so on, to extend practitioners' sentences. The extension can be for five days, ten days or even up to several months long. During the extension of sentences, if a practitioner protests, the police threaten to extend the sentence even more. Falun Gong practitioner Liu Cheng had almost completed his sentence, but was informed that his sentence was extended for another ten days. -
Practitioner Ms. Sun Shuqing from Jilin City Imprisoned in Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province
2007-02-11On January 4th, 2007, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Sun Shuqing was reported to the authorities by security while she was giving out CDs exposing the persecution in the Chuanying District. She was arrested and taken to the Jilin City Detention Centre. On January 24th, 2007, the Detention Centre Administration took Ms. Sun Shuqing to Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City without informing her family members. According to Ms. Sun, during the 20 days she was imprisoned at the detention centre, her health became very poor. -
Practitioner Ms. Li Dafan Persecuted at the Beijing Women’s Forced Labour Camp
2007-02-1057-year-old Ms. Li Dafan was sentenced to two years of forced labour and taken to Beijing Women’s Forced Labour Camp on July 25th, 2006. She said she would continue to practise Falun Dafa. She was not allowed contact with people, had to get up at 5 a.m. each morning and go to bed after midnight, and bombard with daily, endless brainwashing sessions and forced to watch slanderous TV programmes. -
Recent Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners by the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province
2007-02-07On December 16th, 2006, twelve Falun Gong practitioners were sent to the intensive training team at the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City. Four of them were forced to sit on the "iron chair" that day and were tortured, and the other eight were hung up by their handcuffs, beaten, and shocked with electric devices on the afternoon of the following day, all because they refused to write the "three statements" promising to give up Falun Gong. Practitioners were also shocked on their mouths with electric devices for shouting "Falun Dafa is good!" In order to assist in the persecution, the nurses and doctors in the forced labour camp worked overtime, and more guards were dispatched to provide support. -
Exposing the Crimes of Wang Xiaofeng, Political Instructor at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province
2007-02-06Wang Xiaofeng, female, about 40, is the Political Instructor of the Third Division of the Masanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province. Wang has committed a lot of vicious crimes against Falun Gong practitioners. Wang Xiaofeng tortured practitioners by depriving them of sleep, handcuffing them to heating pipes, restraining their arms and legs, hanging them up, solitary confinement, tying them up, freezing them, etc. In December 2002, Wang Xiaofeng and female guard Xue Feng hung practitioner Ms. Wang Yulan to the heating pipe in the Division Head's office. Her right hand was burned so badly by the heat that the flesh rolled off. -
Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp Denies Family Visits for Ms. Zhang Lianying for Three Months; Unknown If She Is Alive
2007-02-05Ms Zhang Lianying suffered the following mistreatment at Beijing Labour Camp Dispatch Division and the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp: (1) Beatings and injuries; (2) being tied up and deprived of sleep and of use of the toilet for long time periods including prohibited toilet use during her period; (3) mental insults and scolding; (4) Deprived of family communication for seven months; (5) Extortion of money from her family members, totalling 4,000 yuan. To protest, she started a hunger strike and refused to wear the labour camp uniform. The family has so far endured three months without making contact with Ms. Zhang. -
Captain Zhang Xiurong Brutally Persecutes Falun Gong Practitioners at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2007-02-05On May 27th, 2005, Captain Zhang Xiurong called practitioner Ms. Zhao Shuhuan to the office and ordered her to take her shoes and socks off and sit on the ground. Zhang shocked the soles of Ms. Zhao's feet, her legs, her upper body, and her lips and scalp with two electric batons. Then she threw down the electric batons and grabbed Ms. Zhao's hair, swinging her back and forth. Zhang slapped her violently in the face for more than forty minutes. Zhang punished Zhao Shuhuan by forcing her to bend over with her arms parallel to her legs. Ms. Zhao wasn't allowed to rest her hands on her knees or bend her legs. To increase her suffering, Zhang ordered her to touch the floor with her hands. Ms. Zhao was forced to stay in that position the whole morning. -
Serious Crimes Committed at Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province
2007-02-04One day guard Zhao Shuang started brutally beating practitioner Mr. Sun Hongda for his "wrong eye expression." Guard Wang Fuhai viciously shocked Sun Hongda on his head, mouth, back of his head, face, and neck, which badly burned Mr. Sun's tongue, and he had difficulty eating for several months. While Sun Hongda was held on the ground by five or six prisoners, guard Zhao Shuang rode on the top of Sun and tortured him, pushing and pulling him. This made Sun Hongda suffer extreme pain in all his joints, and he had difficulty moving around for several days. The deputy head of the labour camp witnessed the torture but walked away as if nothing had happened. Zhao Shuang also brutally slapped Sun Hongda's face, which caused Sun to lose hearing in his left ear for several days.
