The Truth Behind the Pretty Gift Boxes

One of my friends has been held at Shijiazhuang City Forced Labour Camp merely because of his belief in Falun Dafa and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The forced labour camp holds over twenty Falun Dafa practitioners. The guards force them to work intensively. They have to work about 13-14 hours per day, and then work overtime to earn money for the guards. The most frequent work is to process various boxes, cartons and containers, including the containers for the "Five-Ram Cake," gift boxes for the Jinyuan Hotel, gift boxes for the Hebei Hotel, sacks for "Three Deer Milk," napkins for "Five Grains Ritual Field," containers for "Huiyuan Juice," carry-out boxes, cartons for the drugs from Huabei Pharmaceutics and Shenwei Pharmacy, and lids for some oral medicines, etc. -
Ms. Wang Yuhong Has Been Persecuted by Jiamusi City Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province for Six Years
2007-02-03The forced labour camps use many persecution methods. The rooms are shared by four or five people and are very unpleasant. Only half of a wooden scoop of water is provided every morning. The toilet is inside the room and has no cover. The windows are kept shut even in the warm weather. The smell inside the rooms is terrible, and there is not enough oxygen. Everyday, some practitioner got fastened to the bedside, window, or metal chairs because she was caught doing the Falun Gong exercises. At the beginning, violence was used to make practitioners give up their beliefs. Later, they attempted to trick and deceive practitioners to achieve their purpose. -
Exposing Crimes Committed by Officials at Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province
2007-02-02On March 15th, 2004, more than ten Falun Gong practitioners were tortured in Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp. The Camp education office head tried to coerce the practitioners to write the three statements renouncing Falun Gong. After the practitioners refused, guards ordered inmates to torture them. The inmates immersed the practitioners in ice-cold water for a long time, forced them to squat on and between two stools, and pummelled and kicked them brutally when the stools shook. -
Women Practitioners are Poorly Fed, Brainwashed and Cruelly Tortured in Wanjia Forced Labour Camp, Heilongjiang Province
2007-02-02Practitioners held in the 7th and 12th groups were overloaded with labour every day. They were forced to make paper bags for packaging rice and paper and boxes for ice cream. The labour camp set a quota of 400 rice bags or 400 ice cream wrappers for people older than 55 and 500 rice bags or 450 ice cream wrappers for those younger than 55. After they got up at 4:30 in the morning, they were first forced to recite the prison rules. Then they worked from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with only three meals for breaks. They were forced to work for more than 13 hours each day except for the 10-minute break for each meal. Their backs ached and their hands became numb due to the long hours of tedious labour. -
Brutal Persecution Leads to Hunger Strike at the Xindian Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shanxi Province
2007-01-31Six Falun Dafa practitioners currently held in the Xindian Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shanxi Province have been resisting repeated attempts to brainwash them. The labour camp guards use a variety of methods to torture these practitioners, including confining them in wooden stocks, force-feeding them, and depriving them of sleep. The guards also use inmates who are drug addicts to monitor these practitioners. The guards typically feign kindness in an attempt to deceive practitioners when they first arrive at the labour camp. But within three days, the guards will not allow them to sleep if they refuse to renounce Falun Gong. They may sleep only after they have written the so-called "three statements" to renounce Falun Gong. -
Exposing the Unsanitary Conditions of the Food Packing Processes at the Shanxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp
2007-01-30In the camp, the guards use extremely cruel methods to "reform" and persecute the Falun Gong practitioners who firmly believe in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." They instigate the drug addict inmates to monitor the practitioners all day. They brutally beat the practitioners and frequently don’t allow the practitioners to go to the toilet or have any rest for 24 hours. The camp is well aware that some of the practitioners have various female diseases and infectious diseases due to the long-term persecution. However, the camp still forces the practitioners to work overtime. The practitioners have to work over ten hours per day. -
Mr. Gu Xianglin Brutally Persecuted at Xishanping Forced Labour Camp in Chongqing City
2007-01-29Falun Dafa practitioners are brutally persecuted in the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp. Every practitioner imprisoned there that is steadfast in their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and persists in practising Falun Dafa suffers from miserable torture. Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Gu Xianglin was one of them. In December 2005, the weather was very cold. Drug addict inmates poured cold tap water over Mr. Gu's head over and over again. In March 2006, when drug addict Hu Fei (male) was on his night shift, he scooped up urine from the chamberpot in the toilet and poured the urine into Mr. Gu's mouth while he was sleeping. -
Two Practitioners Tortured to the Point of Mental Collapse at the Shuanghe Forced Labour Camp in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province
2007-01-29Being a Falun Dafa practitioner, I have gone to Beijing to appeal to the central government to stop the persecution and to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution. Consequently, I have been put in prison five times and sent to forced labour camp three times. During the time I was in the Shuanghe Forced Labour Camp, I witnessed two Falun Gong practitioners tortured to the point of mental collapse. One practitioner, Kong Linghua, could not bear the physical and mental torture. She was mentally traumatised and cried hysterically. Police injected her with some unknown drugs that made her sleep all the time. -
I Witnessed Persecution in Lanzhou Women's Labour Camp in Gansu Province
2007-01-28The police from the labour camp often forced all detained Falun Gong practitioners to write a so-called "guarantee statement" to give up practising Falun Gong. If anybody refused to do so, they would torture her with many different methods. Once, Ms. Zhang Xuxia shouted "Falun Dafa is good" in the labour camp. She was taken to a garrison room and a female guard instructed a prison inmate to beat her badly. I saw her mouth bleeding and swollen after she came back. Falun Gong practitioners who refused to be "transformed" were forced to sleep on the cement floor and beaten black and blue. -
Practitioner Yang Xiuqin from Liaoning Province Describes Persecution She Has Endured Since 1999
2007-01-27In March 2000 I was sent to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. Guard Fang Yehong ordered an inmate to take me to the toilet where they attempted to force me to give up my cultivation and belief. I refused. the inmate beat me. She slapped my face, making it swell, then pushed my chest with her leg, and hit my back with her elbow and fist. My chest and back became black and purple. I vomited, felt dizzy and had a headache, which was very painful. They also deprived me of sleep and forced me to read the books that slander Falun Gong. I refused to read, so they verbally abused me and beat me. Each day spent in that Masanjia camp seemed like a year. -
Liu Shuping Detained at the Banqiao Women's Forced Labour Camp in Tianjin for Nearly Six Years
2007-01-18Ms. Liu Shuping's term at the Banqiao Women's Forced Labour Camp in Tianjin has been extended four times. January 1st, 2006, was her release date after the second extension of six months. By then, she had been detained at the labour camp for five and a half years. When her family members arrived in the labour camp after travelling 60 miles, the staff at the detention centre said that her term had been extended for another four months. Now it's been far longer than four months, yet Ms. Liu is still detained at the labour camp. -
Recalling the Savage Abuses I Was Made to Endure at Shayang Forced Labour Camp, Hubei Province
2007-01-14My name is Dong Dengzhi. I was arrested on August 29th, 2003 for handing out Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution and was sent to Shayang Forced Labour Camp in Jingmen City. As soon as I arrived, the camp officials designated two criminals to monitor me. They attempted to force me to write a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Dafa, but I refused. One criminal hit me hard on my chest, stomach and back, kicked my genital area very hard, which made me scream. -
Brutal Torture Suffered by Practitioner Mr. Dou Jinbao in Changle Forced Labour Camp
2007-01-14Changle Forced Labour Camp, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Dou Jinbao was stripped naked, and his buttocks and bare feet were beaten with a belt until the belt was broken into three pieces and his buttocks showed traces of blood. Mr Dou recalls: "The head of the labour camp saw the scar on my head and asked me about it. I said it was due to a beating. The next day collaborators were sent to threaten me, telling me that I had to say that the scar was due to a boil I had had on my head. Because of the fear in my heart I cooperated with them." -
Stories of Practitioner Ms. Li Guangqin from Shandong Province During Her Imprisonment
2007-01-13Ms. Li Guangqin was sentenced to two and half years in Shandong Province Women's Forced Labour Camp. Once a guard was verbally abusing a practitioner. To support the practitioner, Ms. Li Guangqin started to call out, "Falun Dafa is good." Other practitioners followed her and called out together. The labour camp guards wanted the practitioners to write a so-called "education summary" but no one wrote anything. When they wanted to take a practitioner away, Li Guangqin held onto the practitioner and stopped them. Two male guards were called in and forcefully took Li Guangqin and the other practitioner to a solitary confinement cell. Li Guangqin was handcuffed to a heating pipe for three days and nights. -
Guards from Shijiazhuang City Forced Labour Camp Mentally Torment Falun Dafa Practitioners' Family Members
2007-01-12On the last Thursday of each month, the hours of 9-11 a.m. are the visiting hours for detained Falun Dafa practitioners in the Shijiazhuang City Labour Camp. On December 28th, 2006, in a small room in the Fifth Ward of the Camp, guards were checking every family member that came to visit. They had to first show the "non-practitioner" statement issued by the local police station, and then they had to read through a page full of words slandering Falun Dafa; otherwise, they were not allowed to visit.
