  Recently, in order to reach their goal of completely "transforming" former Falun Dafa practitioners who had been forcibly brainwashed, they prepared a rubber figure and said that it was the Teacher of Falun Dafa [Teacher Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa]. The prison guards ordered the brainwashed practitioners to beat the rubber figure to show their complete "disassociation" from Falun Dafa. They organised them to burn Falun Dafa books. Every one of them had to burn at least two books. The prison guards even said that only those who dared to step on the pictures were completely giving up Falun Gong. They would see whether they dared to step on the pictures and to burn the books.

• Mr. Zhang Guoli Was Persecuted to the Brink of Death at Dalian Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province

  On February 14th, 2007, when Mr. Zhang Guoli walked into the courtyard of his home, unsteadily, with his clothes in his hands, his parents and elder brother came out from the house to receive him. They could hardly believe that standing in front of them was their beloved son and brother that they had been missing for many days. Mr. Zhang Guoli was so thin and disfigured that he was almost unrecognisable. The moment he stepped into the room, he fell down and lost consciousness. Zhang Guoli's parents and brother cried and ran over to hold him. owever, policeman Han Wei still said that they were not supposed to send Mr. Zhang Guoli home from Dalian Forced Labour Camp.

• Ms. Xu Jiling Suffered a Mental Collapse Due to Torture

  Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Xu Jiling is currently detained in Shandong Province First Women's Labour Camp and has suffered a mental collapse. The camp brutally tortures practitioners with 14-15 hours of hard labour every day. The main product at the labour camp is stuffed animals. Each detained practitioner must finish 20-30 per day, otherwise points are deducted, which results in extended detention. Practitioners are exhausted every day, and some cannot bend their fingers. On January 22nd, 2007, four to five guards took turns beating one female practitioner with a thick wooden club until the club broke in half.

  I'm 57 years old. I was arrested and sent to Baimalong Forced Labour Camp, where I was tortured in inhuman ways. I was taken to a mental hospital, where they injected me with unknown drugs. I cannot recall many of the horrible deeds the guards did to me. Originally I weighed about 130 pounds, but in 2002, when my husband carried me home, I weighed less than 55 pounds. I was totally paralysed, I could not see, and I had lost my memory. It has been more than four years now. My memory is still only partly recovered, my vision is very poor, and I still limp when I walk.

• The Severe Persecution of Ms. Liu Yuwei in Baimalong Forced Labour Camp, Hunan Province

  Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Yuwei was twice sentenced to Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou City. Guards ordered criminals to beat her, and she was slapped a hundred times within one day. She saw flashes of light before her eyes, but was not allowed to close them; if she did so, they would pour lots of water over her. Ms. Liu felt as if she had been blinded. She was soaked through, but was not allowed to change clothes. Later, the criminals took off her clothes and beat her, and poked her private parts with the wooden fork used to dry clothes outside. The guards ordered several criminals to hold her down, and grabbed her hand to force her to sign the guarantee statement to stop practising Falun Dafa.

• The Crimes at Dalian City Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province

  The situation in the Dalian City Forced Labour Camp is horrible. To maintain an intimidating atmosphere, the guards will find any excuse to torment someone once in a while. The electric baton is used primarily, and the painful cries of the victims can always be heard. Division head Lu often applied this torture when on duty at night. Falun Gong practitioners are among these people and forbidden to talk to others. They live in terror and loneliness all day long.

• The Brutal Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners at the Kaiping Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan, Hebei Province

  If practitioners held a hunger strike to protest the persecution, they would be subjected to brutal force-feeding. The tormentors handcuffed practitioners' arms behind their back, to a chair. Several people would hold the practitioner's head and insert tubes through their nose. Then they would feed, little by little, some black material from a small container; all the while chatting with each other. It takes 40 minutes to finish the forced-feeding, which is more painful than delivering a baby. Moreover, in the winter, they would place practitioners in rooms with the windows open and only allow them to wear one sweater. Practitioners often have to sleep on the ground on a cold wooden board.

• Crimes Committed by Vicious Guard Ma Jishan at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

  Ma Jishan and Liu Yong led some of the guards who had arrived at the No. 2 Masanjia Women’s Forced Labour Camp on February 23rd, 2006, to brainwash the practitioners held in Divisions 1 and 2. They used torture methods, including the Big Hang-Up, the Death Bed, solitary confinement, force-feeding with concentrated salt water, and unknown drugs. They would pry the practitioners' mouths open with a mechanical device, savagely beat the practitioners, shock them with electric batons, deprive them of sleep, and strip the women practitioners naked and throw them outside in the freezing cold. Many practitioners were injured and disabled as a result of torture.

  One day, guard Jiao said to me disappointedly, "Zhang Yijie, all that we are allowed or forbidden to do, we've made you suffer them." I then responded. "But, do you know the outcome of your actions?" She looked at me diffidently and with eyes widely open. I said calmly: "Let me tell you, all the things you did to me could only make me stronger and my mind firmer." Jiao had nothing to say to me anymore. Jiao knew that her evil deeds had done everything but kill me. But she also knew in her heart that even if she had taken my life, she still couldn't destroy my belief.

  Wangcun Forced Labour Camp officials punish the steadfast Falun Gong practitioners by forcing them to sit on benches all day long while at the same time collaborators attempt to "reform" them. If the practitioners refuse to be reformed, they would be forbidden to sleep. Because I could not tolerate sleep deprivation I gave in and allowed them to "reform" me. This camp has a basement where the prison guards locked up those practitioners who were not "reformed." I opened a cell door and saw a practitioner hanging on a wall. Her head was wrapped up except for her eyes. I was terrified.

• "Pouring Into an Ice Pipe" -- A Torture at Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province

  Wanjia Forced Labour Camp staff brutally persecute imprisoned Falun Dafa practitioners. In the winter, they open the window and strip off practitioners' clothing, and force them to sit on iron chairs with both hands handcuffed behind the back. The practitioners are forced to step on the ice-cold cement ground barefoot while water was poured on them. After the water freezes, their feet are frozen in the ice. The perpetrators call this punishment "Pouring Into an Ice Pipe." Sometimes, practitioners were handcuffed behind the back to the top of a two-metre-high bunk bed. Their feet were off the ground and the weight of the whole body fell on the wrists. At the very least, they went numb in both hands and fell unconscious; some were crippled in both arms from this torture. An elderly practitioner was hung up like this for three days straight, and eventually died.

  There are about 130 people in each team in the camp, 90 per cent of whom are practitioners. There must be at least 1,000 practitioners in the camp, but they are never given the task of cooking. Only drug addicts, prostitutes, pimps, pornography vendors, and thieves can work in the kitchen. [Chinese buns are supposed to be fluffy and slightly sweet], but practitioners are constantly served with sticky buns, sour buns, salty buns, or rock-hard buns. Boiled vegetables taste like swill and constantly contain worms, bugs, flies, weed stems, and a residue of dirt on the bottom. Later the menu improved slightly and streaky pork or boiled pork skin was added to the menu twice a week but in meagre rations. In fact, many practitioners often don't get any pork at all. Occasionally fried eggs were added to the menu but meagrely rationed as well.

  When you, as a practitioner, are tortured to force you give up your belief, this is a test: Will you have anger inside your heart when you see that other detainees are showing off and dumping their leftover food into the rubbish bins on purpose or depriving you of your meals in front of your eyes while you don't have enough food to eat? Will you still be indifferent and care little about your physiological desires when you see in front of your eyes that other detainees are chewing and enjoying the charcoaled chicken and sausages on purpose brought from the shop inside the labour camp while you're not allowed to buy anything from there? Will your heart still be peaceful when you are forced to stay up all night long under the surveillance of the collaborators and the guards while others are sleeping soundly?

• First Hand Experience of Cruel Brainwashing at the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp (Part 4)

  After the persecution started, I went to appeal on July 21st, 1999. My employer, the Foreign Trade Ministry of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), tried to force me to give up cultivating Falun Dafa, so that I could be "on the same page" as the CCP. My family also tried to convince me. My oldest brother was the most active of my three older brothers. My father, a history teacher, cooperated with him. Once, they suddenly locked me up in a room and tried many ways to force me to give in. My father used many historical stories about how people had been wrong. My oldest brother is a provincial civil minister. He is in charge of persecuting Falun Gong in that province. He knows clearly the CCP's plan to eradicate Falun Gong. They thought they could save me from disaster and stop me from ruining my reputation and losing profit or ruining my family.
