Inside the Labour Camps

  • After Three Years of Torture in a Forced Labour Camp, Mr. Qi Mingli Is Transferred to Fushun City Brainwashing Centre in Liaoning Province

Mr. Qi Mingli is a practitioner from Liaoning Province. After detaining him in a forced labour camp for three years, the police transferred him to a brainwashing centre located in the Luotai Mountain Retreat area of Fushun City, where those in charge continue to torture him. Due to the persecution, Mr. Qi became disabled long ago and his vision is getting worse and worse. He is only able to see things within a range of less than two metres (6.5 ft).
  • The Hidden Brutality at Weining Forced Labour Camp in Benxi, Liaoning Province

Weining Forced Labour Camp in Benxi City is a place where the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) dictatorship carries out its brutal policies. Every newly arrived practitioner is "cared for" by the guards upon arrival, who pretend to be kind and warm. They constantly air videos that slander Falun Gong and praise the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Two "brainwashing" personnel watch the practitioner all the time, even when he goes to the toilet. If these methods don't work, they will threaten him. "If you don't change your mind, we will transfer you to Dabei Prison." If none of these tactics work, then they will act more brutally. They prohibit practitioners from sleeping and send the practitioners to the "severe treatment team" and put them on a "dead person's bed" to stretch their limbs. A healthy person can be damaged to the point of a mental breakdown from this treatment.
  • My Experience of Being Persecuted at the Forced Labour Dispatch Centre and the Women's Forced Labour Camp in Beijing

Because of physical and mental torture, my health was ruined. After one year and six months at the forced labour camp I had lost much of my eyesight, my memory had deteriorated and my hair had turned grey. The inhuman torture took a toll on my body. I even came close to a mental collapse at one time. I suffered increased interstitial fluid in my organs due to prolonged malnutrition and sitting on a high board for a long period of time. Even after being released from the forced labour camp I had difficulty walking unaided for a long time. Practitioners who were "transformed" and who renounced Falun Dafa were still forced to perform slave labour. Sometimes we made handicrafts and other types of jobs. In the summer of 2006 we were required to pack sugar. There were flies everywhere in the workshop and it was a very unhygienic facility.
  • Masanjia Labour Re-education Camp Tortures Steadfast Falun Dafa Practitioners

On February 26th, 2002, I was detained at the notorious Masanjia Labour Re-education Camp in Liaoning Province. I witnessed how the prison guards at Masanjia brutally torment steadfast Falun Dafa practitioners. When practitioners are first brought to Masanjia, the first trick the guards use on them is the "exhaustion tactic": a practitioner has to get up at around 4:00 a.m. and face "collaborators" who try and "transform" them until midnight. This is repeated every day. If after a long period of time the "exhaustion tactic" doesn't work, the labour camp then uses physical punishment like hanging practitioners up in the air and other forms of torture until the person cannot take it any more.
  • Ms. Song Wenjuan Tortured at Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province

Ms. Song Wenjuan was sentenced to forced labour in July 2005 and detained in the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City. There she has been subject to all kinds of persecution. Ms. Song was handcuffed backwards to the bunk twice, with her feet suspended above the ground. The guards secured her onto the "iron chair" with handcuffs and shackles for more than two months. Recently, guard Huo Shuping (female), shocked her with an electric baton. As a result, Ms. Song's face was swollen and distorted, and she became critically ill.
  • The Evil Guangzhou City No. 1 Forced Labour Camp in Guangdong Province

The next day I started a hunger strike against their unlawful persecution. At noon on the third day they pulled me out for force-feeding. They used two sets of handcuffs to handcuff each of my hands on a long bench. They deliberately pulled the handcuffs very tight, making them cut into my flesh. I was in such excruciating pain that my whole body trembled. Five of them sprang on me and tied me up. First, they used cotton strips to tie up my arms. Then they twisted my arms to the back. Two of the monitors used all their strength to pull my arms to make them come close together. Then they tied my arms together in the back. They also tied up my legs and forced my legs into the lotus position (both feet on top of the thighs). My arms had very deep wounds, as did my back. I could not move nor raise my hands -- they simply hung down.
  • Baimalong Women's Forced Labour Camp in Hunan Province Colludes with the 610 Office to Arrest Practitioner's Visiting Family Members

Ms. Zhu Guilin, 43, has been detained in Baimalong Forced Labour Camp since 2004 and has suffered brutal torture. She has now served her so-called "forced labour term" but the labour camp still refuses to release her. Prisoners often beat Zhu Guilin. In July 2005, because she didn't stand up to do the morning calisthenics, the prisoners dragged her out and beat and verbally abused her, right in front of the guards. Another time she was beaten until she lost consciousness. On April 9th, when her family visited her, they saw that she was covered with wounds everywhere, on her face, her head, elbows, knees, legs, and so on. There were three burns on her hands. Several places on her body had festered.
  • Practitioner Ms. Xie Lijuan Has Suffered a Mental Collapse as a Result of Persecution at the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xie Lijuan, 28, was detained in the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp's First Division and has become mentally disoriented as a result of gross abuse under the persecution. She suffered from savage tortures, including being shocked on her thighs and genitals with electric batons. The criminal police often forced her to take drugs. The more drugs she was forced to take, the more serious her symptoms became. Even so, policewoman Wei Dan still instructed inmates in prison for prostitution to monitor her. They not only deprived Ms. Xie of sleep, but also forced her to do manual labour.
  • Cases of Persecution at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province

In 2005, as a protest, some Falun Dafa practitioners refused to perform forced labour and stayed in bed. Guards dragged them from their beds by their hair. If practitioners refuse to wear the prison uniform (because they are not criminals), they are punished by not being allowed to use the toilet. The following practitioners were punished for various breaches of prison regulations: Ms. Wang Hong was locked in a toilet until 1:00 a.m.; Ms. Wang Shulan, Ms. Liu Huarong, and Ms. Liu Guifang were beaten by police because they refused to wear the prison uniform. Several practitioners went on hunger strikes in protest. They were barbarically force-fed.
  • Brutal Persecution at Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp; Zhang Lianying Remains Detained

April 20th was the birthday of Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Lianying. It also marked one month since she suffered severe internal bleeding in the head after being brutally beaten at the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp. Ms. Zhang's husband Niu Jinping and her three-year-old daughter Qingqing repeatedly went to the labour camp to try to visit Ms. Zhang, who is detained at the Tiantanghe Hospital inside the labour camp. Mr. Niu again requested that his wife be released unconditionally, and that the perpetrator of the crime be brought to justice.
  • Criminal Acts of Guards in the Mudanjiang Forced Labour Camp, Heilongjiang Province

Mudanjiang Forced Labour Camp is located in Sidao Village, Tielinghe Town, in the eastern suburb of Mudanjiang City. Zhang Junrong, leader of the division responsible for the entry and release of prisoners in the forced labour camp, used electric batons to abuse prisoners. Between 1999 and 2002, during his tenure as a division leader, he followed the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners ruthlessly.
  • Fifteen Common Methods of Torture Used at Xinhua Forced Labour Camp in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province

One morning in April 2001, several other practitioners and I were studying the Falun Dafa teachings, sitting on the floor of a small classroom. I was reciting the teachings to them. Camp guard Deng Tao discovered us. He brought me to the office for questioning and called in other guards from the fifth floor. They pushed me to the floor and stood on my back. They tied my hands very tightly behind me and then shocked me with electric batons.
  • Ms. Zhu Guilin Disfigured and Emaciated from Two and a Half Years of Torture at the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Hunan Province

43-year-old Ms. Zhu Guilin has been detained in the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou City for two and a half years. On April 8th her term was up but the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp still didn't release her. On the morning of April 9th, Zhu's mother, brother and sister-in-laws went to Baimalong Forced Labour Camp to visit her. Ms. Zhu came out with other people's support and was not able to walk by herself. There were bruises all over Ms. Zhu's head, hands, wrists, elbows, knees and legs. She was so emaciated that she was a bag of bones. Seeing her daughter like this, her mother couldn't help crying. A policeman in the reception room came forward to stop her mother because family members are not allowed to cry. But Ms. Zhu's mother still couldn't help her tears.
  • Ways That Benxi Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners, Both Physically and Mentally

When the authorities realised that their attacks and verbal abuses of Dafa and the propaganda for the Communist Party had no effect on practitioners, they tricked their family members into coming to the camp and used them to try to influence the practitioners. The husbands, wives, children, parents, brothers, or sisters of the practitioner came to the camp and wept, complaining about their being abandoned by the practitioners. Sometimes the managers of the practitioner's company or his friends came and said that practitioners were being selfish, caring about only their own cultivation and not about their families. Who exactly broke up numerous families and caused family members to be separated or die? Was it not caused by the Party's persecution of these good people, who adhere to the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance?"
  • Crimes Committed in the Second Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province

All practitioners sent to the camp are first subjected to forced brainwashing. The police guards force practitioners to watch videos slandering Dafa in an attempt to influence practitioners to give up their belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" and to write the so-called "guarantee statements" to renounce their belief. If practitioners refuse to cooperate, the police immediately exploit a variety of torture methods. They beat practitioners fiercely, force-feed them, hammer bamboo sticks under their fingernails, hang them in the "cross" position, put them on the death bed, deprive them of sleep, and pinch their flesh using metal clamps. The police invented the "metal clamp pinching" torture method on their own. I have personally witnessed how this cruel method caused practitioners excruciating pain.
