Report on the Psychiatric Torture of Falun Gong Practitioners by the Chinese Communist Government

Since July, 1999, millions of Falun Gong practitioners have become the targets of a massive persecution under the Chinese Communist Party. While the CCP mobilized its entire propaganda machinery to defame Falun Gong, it stops at nothing in torturing Falun Gong practitioners to give up their beliefs. Hundreds of torture methods have been used on Falun Gong practitioners. -
Force Feeding Is Being Used by the Communist Party to Torture and Kill
2010-03-24Force feeding is being used in Chinese prisons to persecute and torture Falun Gong practitioners. The torture severely damages the body and often leads to death. For direct force feeding through the mouth, the guards pry open the mouth with a sharp metal tool. During the process, the mouths of some practitioners are torn up. The guard pours substances into the mouth of the practitioner. For force feeding using a nasogastric tube, the tube is forced through the nasal cavity and oesophagus. If the tube goes into the trachea it can cause death or severely damage the lungs. The substances forced through the feeding are often poisonous or caustic. On October 9th, 2001, Sun Guilan, 46, was killed by force feeding at the Baoji City No. 60 Military Hospital when a tube was inserted into her trachea. -
Mr. Wang Jijun Is Secretly Transferred to Jidong Prison, Tangshan City
2010-03-24Mr. Wang Jijun is in his 40s. On September 7th, 2009, officers from the domestic security divisions of the Tangshan City Police Department and the Yuhe Police Department arrested him. He was tried on November 23rd, 2009, in the Yuhe District Court in Cangzhou City. His family hired a lawyer, who pleaded "not-guilty" on his behalf. Under the direction of the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), the court sentenced Mr. Wang to four years in prison for possessing three Falun Gong CDs and five files on his computer. On March 3rd, 2010 without notifying his family, Mr. Wang was quietly transferred from the Cangzhou City Detention Centre to Jidong Prison, Tangshan City. -
Dehui City 610 Office Agents Arrest Several Falun Gong Practitioners
2010-03-24Four officers from the Chalukou Town Police Station went to the home of Mr. Ji Guoxiang on March 2nd, 2010. They attempted to arrest Mr. Ji, but he was able to escape. The police took away his Falun Gong books. Dehui City Police Department officers and those from the Chalukou Town Police Station have been constantly harassing and persecuting Mr. Ji since July 20th, 1999. Mr. Ji decided to live away from home, moving from place to place several times. This same group of officers next went to the home of Ms. Jiang Yaqin. They arrested her and confiscated her Falun Gong books and materials. -
Over Thirty Practitioners from Huantai County in Shandong Province Detained
2010-03-24On February 24th, 2010, right before the opening of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) National People's Congress (NPC) and Political Consultative Conference, the Zibo City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the Huantai County 610 Office arrested Falun Gong practitioners and ransacked their homes in Huantai County. Some practitioners are being detained at the Houbu Village Brainwashing Centre. In 2001, police put Mr. Li Yuxiang into a forced labour camp for three years, and his daughter, Li Cong, was also sent to forced labour for three years. The Zhangjiadian District Court of Zibo City sentenced his son, Li Shusen, to eleven years and incarcerated him in the Shandong Provincial Prison for six years -
Former Shanghai Jiaotong University Lecturer's Family Denied Visitation, His Lawyer Threatened and Forced to Withdraw
2010-03-23Since Mr. Guo Xiaojun refused to give up his Falun Gong practice, the university officials had repeatedly harassed him and detained him. In August, 2000, when he distributed Falun Gong informational materials, he was arrested. He was then sentenced to five years in prison and detained at the Tilanqiao Prison, where he suffered persecution. On January 8th, 2010, Mr. Guo Xiaojun was arrested again. All of Mr. Guo's family members went together to the Baoshan District Police Department to demand he be released, but their request was denied. Mr. Guo's family hired a lawyer, Mr. Liang Xiaojun from Beijing to represent him. However, the officials from the Beijing Judicial Bureau said to him, "If you want to keep your licence, you should no longer deal with Guo Xiaojun's case." -
Police Harass Ms. Yang Lijun's Family
2010-03-23On February 22nd, 2010, police from the Bayuquan District Domestic Security Division went to Ms. Yang Lijun's home. Ms. Yang was not at home. The officers tried to coerce her daughter to give them Ms. Yang's location by threatening to revoke her doctor's licence. After they realized that they could not get the whereabouts of Ms. Yang, they forced the daughter to call her husband. Once Ms. Yang's son-in-law arrived home, they arrested him and held him in the Domestic Security Division. They said that Ms. Yang could trade her son-in-law's freedom for hers. If Ms. Yang did not come, her son-in-law wouldn't be set free. They also said that they were capable of doing anything bad. -
Mr. Zhang Beiqi from Jilin Province Arrested in Shandong Province After the Chinese New Year
2010-03-23On February 27th, 2010 Mr. Zhang Beiqi was arrested in his hometown in Shandong Province by police, because Mr. Zhang helped find an attorney to defend practitioner Li Fengyun. In the past 10 years, Mr. Zhang was detained for eight years at various places, including Yanji Labour Camp, Jiutai Labour Camp, Tonghua Labour Camp, Tiebei Prison in Changchun City, Jilin Prison, and others. Now he has been arrested once again. Du Peng defended Ms. Li Fengyun's right to practise Falun Gong. Ms. Li Fengyun also defended herself. After the court hearing, many people learned the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution. -
Former President of Mingyuan Construction Research Institute Imprisoned
2010-03-23On August 2nd, 2007, Mr. Jiang Zonglin was arrested at his home by police officers from the Jinniu First Section and Fuqin Police Station. Mr. Jiang was taken to Jinniu and Xinlv Brainwashing Centre in Chengdu, and detained for nearly three months. During his detention, Mr. Jiang was subjected to interrogation by torture. In September and October 2008, Wuhou Court held trial on Mr. Jiang, and later sentenced him to five years of imprisonment. -
610 Office Intimidates High School Student for Telling Others How Falun Gong Healed His Fatal Illness
2010-03-22Sixteen year-old Qu Jianguo from Hebei Province wrote an article that was posted on the Clearwisdom.net website. In the article he disclosed that he was diagnosed with an advanced stage of bone cancer last year, and the doctor told him that there was no cure for the illness. He was nonetheless given a new lease on life after learning about and practising Falun Gong. Unexpectedly however, Baoding City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) agents saw the article on the Minghui website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net) and ordered the Laishui County 610 Office and police department to "investigate" this matter at the school where Qu Jianguo studies. It was learned that Qu Jianguo and his family were intimidated by authorities. -
Older Practitioner Ms. Pei Yi Arrested and Persecuted Twice in Tianjin
2010-03-22In January 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Pei Yi was arrested by the police in Tianjin. She was detained in the Xiqing Detention Centre for a month and then sent to Banqiao Women's Forced Labour Camp. In the camp, the guards forced her to sit on a small stool and face the wall from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. The stool that she was forced to sit on was made from plastic and had bumps on it. Ms. Pei was required to sit upright and not allowed to close her eyes. As soon as she closed her eyes, the drug offender would poke her to prevent her from sleeping. Ms. Pei protested by going on a hunger strike and was later released. In November 2008, she was arrested again and later released after going on a hunger strike. -
Older Falun Gong Practitioner Cited in Gao Zhisheng Letter Dies from Torture in Custody
2010-03-22An elderly Falun Gong practitioner, who was cited as a torture victim by prominent attorney Gao Zhisheng in an open letter to China's leaders, died on January 28th due to injuries incurred in custody. Ms. Liu Lihua, 61, is the second of Gao's interviewees known to have subsequently died from abuse in custody. Gao himself has been "disappeared" by Chinese security forces since February 2009. Police detained Ms. Liu on March 24th, 2009 as she was talking about the persecution against Falun Gong in public. "During the time I was in prison, the guards employed absolutely inhumane means to torture me," Liu told Gao Zhisheng in 2005. -
The Ten-Year Persecution of Ms. Chang Shige from Changchun
2010-03-22Ms. Chang Shige has endured inhumane torture countless times during the past ten years of the persecution. Now she has been forced to leave her family and move from place to place to avoid further persecution. She describes the persecution in Teibei Detention Centre: "Due to the poor ventilation, many of us developed a contagious eczema-like disease. It first started with tiny red itchy bumps, then festered, and finally decayed. Because there were too many people in the room, it was impossible to walk around or even to stand up. I spent most of the time in a sitting position. After one week, I was hardly able to walk. In order to force us to "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] the guards encouraged criminal offenders to beat us." -
Gross Abuse and Mistreatment Suffered by Falun Gong Practitioners in Suining City, Sichuan Province in 2009
2010-03-21Four practitioners died as a result of persecution in Suining City. Mr. Quan Xueyin developed lung necrosis due to brutal torture and died on March 8th, 2009. Ms. Yan Xuebi's family took her home from the labour camp on May 19th, 2008. She was extremely weak, and Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials constantly harassed her following her release. Ms. Yan died the morning of March 9th, 2009. Due to abuse suffered while in custody, Mr. Zheng Fangjun could not eat and had breathing problems. He died on the morning of July 21st, 2009. Ms. Zhang Yuhua from Suining City was detained four times. The guards savagely beat her in 2003, blinding her left eye. She died on August 13th, 2009. -
Remembering Doctor Shen Yueping
2010-03-21Ms. Shen Yueping worked at the Maternity and Child Care Centre in Yunsi, Yunnan Province in July 2009. While at the Yunnan Second Women's Prison, her captors subjected her to excruciating torture that led to a perforated lung. She was then sent to the Kunming Third Hospital for treatment and died there. Ms. Shen treated people kindly. She lived a very simple life. She contributed silently to others and never showed off. I admired her wisdom and pure heart that were a result of Falun Gong cultivation. She often said, "We practitioners should be nice and cultivate our character according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance; we should become better people, not merely good people."
