Over Thirty Practitioners from Huantai County in Shandong Province Detained

On February 24th, 2010, right before the opening of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) National People's Congress (NPC) and Political Consultative Conference, the Zibo City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the Huantai County 610 Office arrested Falun Gong practitioners and ransacked their homes in Huantai County. The detained practitioners included Li Yuxiang and his wife, Shu Jinlan, nearly 60 years old; Zhang Kuixian and his wife, both in their 70s; Wang Hongbao, in his 70s; Yu Dahuan, an engineer in his 80s; Li Yubao, nearly 60; Wang Liren, nearly 60; Jing Hao; Geng Yanmei; Wei Qirong; Li Suping; Liu Cuilan; Shen Yuzhen; and Liu Suping.

Some practitioners are being detained at the Houbu Village Brainwashing Centre in Huoli Town, Huantai County. Li Yuxiang, Wang Liren, Li Xubao, Jing Hao, Geng Yanmei, and Li Suping are being held at the Zibo City Detention Centre, located at West Eighth Road, Fujia Town, in the Zhangdian Area of Zibo City. Shu Jinlan and Wang Hongbao were found to have symptoms of illness during their physical exams. They were forced to pay 5,000 yuan1 without being given a receipt and then released.

In 2001, the Huantai County Police Department put Mr. Li Yuxiang into a forced labour camp for three years, and his daughter, Li Cong, was also sent to forced labour for three years. The Zhangjiadian District Court of Zibo City sentenced his son, Li Shusen, to eleven years and incarcerated him in the Shandong Provincial Prison for six years. Mr. Li Shusen has since been released. In 2001 and 2004, Li Baoyu was sent to forced labour camps for four years in total by the 610 Office. Mr. Zhang Kuixian has been persecuted repeatedly by the 610 Office.
