Engineer Mr. Bao Yuanjing Abused and Tortured in the Yunnan No.1 Prison

The police from Yunnan Province arrested Mr. Bao Yuanjing twice, subjecting him first to two years of forced labour and then to four years of imprisonment. While being held at the Yunnan Province No.1 Prison, he was put in shackles and placed in solitary confinement for six months, and periodically shackled and handcuffed into a fixed position. He was only given two meagre meals a day. He held hunger strikes several times to protest the mistreatment but was then forcibly injected with unknown drugs. Lu Chao and Xu Yanneng ordered criminals to beat him on multiple occasions. -
Ms. Zhu Yinfang Beaten to Death in Sichuan Province
2010-03-17On April 25th, 2003, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhu Yinfang was transferred from the Second Ward to the Seventh Ward in the Nanmusi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Zizhong County, Sichuan Province. In less than 24 hours she was dead. A witness who revealed how she was beaten to death: "The guards first taped her mouth shut to prevent her from shouting "Falun Gong is great!" The prisoners who were assigned to watch her said as they handcuffed her, "If you refuse to accept the brainwashing, the only outcome is to die. Several female prisoners entered the washroom, handcuffed Ms. Zhu's wrists behind her, and punched and kicked her. She screamed the entire time. No one was allowed to enter the washroom, but all heard her cries of misery. By 4:00 p.m., prisoner Zhang Yan came upstairs to ask for Ms. Zhu's clothes since Ms. Zhu had already died." -
Firsthand Account of Persecution Suffered by a Factory Worker
2010-03-17On September 10th, 2005, police came to my home. They ransacked it. I was detained at the Dezhou City Detention Centre. Wu Zhenyuan and Zhang Xikun from the district political and protection section extorted 20,000 yuan from my family, threatening to send me to a forced labour camp if the bribe was not paid. In the detention centre, I went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. On the tenth day of the hunger strike, they began to force feed me. Prisoner Wang Wenjuan, the detention center's doctor Jiang, and three other people made me lie down, tied my limbs to the bed, and held me down as I struggled and the doctor inserted the feeding tube. Instead of inserting the tube down my oesophagus, he inserted it into my trachea. Immediately I couldn't breathe. -
Suspicious Circumstances Surround the Death of Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Xu Chunhua
2010-03-16On February 23rd, 2010, a shepherd discovered a body in a well near Liuwentun Village and reported it to the Qilihe Town Police Station. Authorities have identified the body as that of Mr. Xu Chunhua. The cause of death is still under investigation. Mr. Xu disappeared three months ago. Someone said that he had been arrested and imprisoned at the Yi County Detention Centre. On December 28th, 2009, a family member of Mr. Xu visited the detention centre, but guards told him that no such person was in the centre. The family asked others to check for the whereabouts of Mr. Xu, and was told that, "the person practising Falun Gong was sent to a forced labour camp." -
A Bitter Experience for Mr. Cheng Jingfu, a Falun Gong Practitioner in Henan Province
2010-03-16On May 17th, 2008, Mr. Cheng Jingfu and his wife and his wife's sister were publicly distributing information about Falun Gong, and the police found out about it. Gao Feng was notified and, together with police officers, they arrested and questioned the three practitioners. They ransacked Cheng's house and took them to a detention centre. Mr. Cheng's house was ransacked three times and his personal belongings were confiscated. While he was in prison, he was beaten more than 20 times, and his family had 15,000 yuan extorted from them. Mr. Cheng was sentenced to three years of imprisonment on the last occasion, while his wife was sentenced to four years. -
Persecution of Ms. Gu Jihong and Ms. Lu Xiuli from the Putuo District of Shanghai
2010-03-16Since 1999, Ms. Gu Jihong has been repeatedly persecuted. In June 2000, she was sentenced to three years in prison. In June 2005, she was sent to a forced labour camp for a one year term. On March 1st, 2008, Ms. Gu Jianmin, Ms. Gu Jihong's sister, was arrested by police. On March 13th, 2008, she was tortured to death. On July 26th, 2008, Ms. Gu was arrested because the personnel of the Putuo 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) worried that she would appeal for justice for her sister during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. So, on November 19th, 2008, the Putuo Court sentenced her to three years in prison. -
Practitioners from Tianjin City Sentenced to Prison Terms
2010-03-16After having been detained for nearly fourteen months, practitioners from Tianjin City were secretly sentenced at Hedong detention centre by Tianjin City Hedong court in the morning of January 14th, 2010. The court did not notify any of their families. Practitioners Liu Huijiang, Yang Qingsheng were sentenced to five and four years in prison respectively. Chen Xuehui and Lu Fucheun were sentenced to four and half years. Chen Xueqi and her husband Yang Xuejun were sentenced to two years and delayed for two years. Lu Fuchun had been previously released for medical treatment. On January 14th, he was deceived into going to the Hedong detention centre and was held there. On February the 4th, the warden in Hedong detention centre extorted four hundred Yuan from his family. -
Ms. Ma Xianling from Beijing Narrates Her Experience of Being Persecuted
2010-03-15I was arrested in 2004 while I was giving out Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution with another fellow practitioner. We were reported and arrested by police. They tried to force me to tell them the source of the materials and also the names of my fellow practitioners. I refused to co-operate with them and they started to beat me. I was forced to sit on a cold metal chair, and was confined to a small cell, but no matter how they persecuted me, they could not change my heart of being determined in cultivating Falun Gong. Half a year later, because of the fact that I was severely persecuted, I was bailed out for medical treatment. -
Mr. Huang Liqiao Tortured in Shuangkou Forced Labour Camp in Tianjin City
2010-03-15The Shuangkou Forced Labour Camp in Tianjin City detains more than a dozen Falun Gong practitioners. Among the detainees, Mr. Huang Liqiao and Mr. Xiao Shuqing have been cruelly tortured since November 2009. Guards and prisoners hung Mr. Huang up from the bunk bed, squeezed his ribs, pulled his tendons by twisting his joints, kneed him in the chest, and punched his groin until he suffered incontinence. Guards encouraged drug addict prisoners or thieves to torture practitioners at will. -
Incidents of Persecution in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in 2009
2010-03-15Mr. Jiang Tao, Mr. Qiao Jianhui, and Mr. Zhao Lin were held in a disciplinary prison section. Mr. Wang Jiaming was held in a sick and disabled prison section, and not allowed to contact anyone. Mr. Wand Yuzhu and Mr. Zhao Yuhu were forced to make fake eyelashes and peel beans. Mr. Xie Yiqiang and Mr. Zhao Lin refused to recite the prison regulations and persisted in doing the Falun Gong exercises. They were confined in solitary compartments and not allow to sleep before 1:00 a.m. for their peaceful disobedience. They were slapped in the face by inmates and forced to stand still for long periods of time because they remained silent during roll call. -
Chongqing Practitioner Mr. Zuo Guoqian Arrested Twice
2010-03-15Mr. Zuo Guoqian was detained in the Banan District Detention Centre for one month in 2005. During this period, he was forced to do long hours of labour, gluing medicine bags and other items, to make money for the detention centre. The living conditions were extremely bad. A room that normally accommodates eight people was overcrowded with up to 15 or 16 people. On September 9th, 2005, Mr. Zuo Guoqian was sent to the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp and was detained there for one year. During that period, he endured numerous tortures. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Subjected to Cruel Torture at Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp
2010-03-14In the First Division of the labour camp of Hebei Province, Falun Gong practitioners Liu Li, Liu Binglan, Zhang Yanchun, and others were handcuffed to the upper frames of the bunk beds for several days in a row. They were not allowed to use the toilet, and as a result, had to urinate and defecate in their trousers. The guards instructed inmates to beat these practitioners. Liu Li had black eyes and suffered from concussion due to being beaten. Ms. Zhang Yanchun's face was badly bruised, turning black and blue from being beaten. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Grossly Abused at Beijing Women's Prison
2010-03-14Ms. Dong Cui was in her 20's and was sentenced to three years of incarceration. Once, inmates Li Xiaomei and Jin Hongwei forced her to sit in the full lotus position with both legs crossed and bent her head down so that it was down on her legs. Ms. Dong eventually died from the abuse that she suffered. This was another crime committed by Tian Fengqing (guard), and inmates Li Xiaomei, and Jin Hongwei. Following Ms. Dong's death, Li Xiaomei said, "I have already killed one person and I am not afraid of killing another one." Another young practitioner Ms. Xu Na was also tortured the same way. Ms. Xu was sentenced to three years of incarceration, and her husband Yu Zhou died as a result of the persecution that he suffered. -
Persecution Suffered by Mr. Zheng Fangjun Prior to His Death
2010-03-14During the past ten years, Mr. Zheng Fangjun was twice sent to a forced labour camp, detained four times, and brutally tortured. Mr. Zheng decided to leave home following his release in 2005, in order to avoid further persecution. He was homeless for years and constantly on the run, lacking a secure place to stay. He often skipped meals and spent long hours outdoors, rain or shine. The rough living took a toll on his health. He had trouble swallowing, constantly coughed, and vomited blood. He became so weak that he was always exhausted and had trouble breathing. Zheng Fengjun died on July 21st, 2009. -
Recounting the Persecution that Liu Zhimei Suffered During Her Time at the Beijing Detention Centre
2010-03-14Falun Gong practitioner Liu Zhimei, 20, was detained at Beijing Detention Centre. Once, Ms. Liu went with the guards to be interrogated. However, she didn't return until two months later. The cell she was locked in was extremely small, with enough space for only a bed and a toilet. She wasn't allowed to change her clothes or take a shower during those two months. There was a big camera on the ceiling to monitor her around the clock. The area she was confined in was full of similar small cells and she heard painful screams from fellow inmates being tortured. I recently heard that Liu Zhimei suffered a mental breakdown, and I felt very sad.
