  • Huaihua City Mental Hospital Imprisons and Persecutes Practitioners

    Huaihua City Mental Hospital imprisons and persecutes Falun Gong practitioners. Practitioner Ms. Chen Chujun died as a result of persecution there. Practitioners are detained among mental patients and tortured. Torture methods include shackling of practitioners, forced feeding, force administration of unknown drugs, and torture with an electric baton. The doctors claim that they use electric batons to find out if the patients "truly have mental problems."
  • Persecution and Forced Labour at the Chongqing Women's Forced Labour Camp

    The labour camp subjects practitioners to forced labour. The older practitioners are sent to the sweet shop to wrap sweets, and have to meet a high hourly quota. In December 2009, camp guards raised the quota again, adding one jin (1 jin = 1.1 pound) to the hourly quota. The practitioners who are 45 years of age and younger must wrap ten jin of sweets every hour. The practitioners who are 46 to 60 years of age must wrap nine jin. Practitioners who are 61 to 65 years of age must wrap 6 jin, and practitioners who are 66 years of age or older must wrap five jin per hour. If one misses the quota by nine hours in one week, she is forced to sit upright for two hours every night as punishment if she is over 60 years old, forced to stand for two hours every night if she's younger than 60 years old.
  • Persecution Suffered by Seventy-year-old Mr. Tang Chuangyuan from Sichuan Province

    Mr. Tang Chuangyuan was persecuted extensively for practising Falun Gong. On November 14th, 2005, Mr. Tang was arrested and sentenced to three years of imprisonment. On February 17th, 2003, five to six policemen from the Domestic Security Division of Shifang and Majin Police Station arrested Mr. Tang in his home, and then took him to the Hexing Brainwashing Centre. In the brainwashing centre, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel tortured Mr. Tang and caused a right shoulder joint dislocation. Mr. Tang did not receive any medical treatment for the injury. One night, Mr. Tang was so severely beaten that his entire body was covered with injuries, rendering him unable to sit up or sleep. The perpetrators beat him until they were too tired to continue.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Ms. Liu Yuxia and Ms. Bai Chunhua Die as Result of Persecution

    On May 21st, 2009, Ms. Liu Yuxia was arrested by officer Li Hu from the Santa Town Police Station when Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution together with other practitioners. They were taken to the Santa Police Station. Ms. Liu's complexion was dark blue as a result of low oxygen in the blood caused by her heart disease. After three days the police were afraid of her dying in custody, so they decided to release her. However, they demanded 1,000 yuan from her family first. The local police never left Ms. Liu alone, and they demanded that she submit the results of her physical check-up, and threatened to take her into custody at any time. Ms. Liu was severely abused both mentally and physically, and her whole body was swollen. She died on November 6th, 2009.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Jiang Limin from Changchun City Persecuted

    Since July 20th, 1999, for almost 11 years now, I have been brutally persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because I practise Falun Gong. The persecution has injured me physically and mentally. It has also caused my family members emotional pain and suffering, as well as financial difficulties. On November 19th, 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong and was arrested. At Xuanwu District Detention Centre and was brutally tortured. An officer named Jiang called over four or five other policemen. One grabbed my head and used a toilet brush to hit the right side of my face fast and hard. He did not stop until he was really tired. He hit me about 50 to 60 times, and my face under my right eye was swollen with purple and blue bruises.
  • Ms. Lu Xianming Subjected to Continuous Persecution, Remains Imprisoned

    Ms. Lu Xianming has been imprisoned at the Guangzhou Women's Prison since January 15th, 2007. Ms. Lu was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour. During her detention at the forced labour camp, Ms. Lu endured the most evil and cruel torture methods, such as sleep deprivation, not being allowed to use the toilet, being made to stand still for a long time, having her legs bound, and an overall spiritual wearing down. Ms. Lu was on a hunger strike for a few months, so guards instructed the inmates to force-feed her by prying her mouth open with a metal spoon. They inserted a nasal tube, and simply left it there for a long period of time. The guards often added several kinds of drugs to the food that they forced into her.
  • Guo Chunsheng Tortured in Prison; His Elderly Mother in a Precarious State

    Police officers arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Guo Chunsheng several months before the 2008 Olympics without an arrest warrant. They detained him in the Wuxue City Detention Centre and the First Detention Centre. In the first half of 2009, Mr. Guo was sentenced to a three-year prison term without court proceedings, to be served in Fanjiatai Prison of Shayang City. He suffered a mental collapse due to torture and is in very poor health. The police claimed that he was a mental patient and locked him up in an iron cage.
  • Ms. Wang Yan Died As a Result of Persecution in the Yaojia Detention Centre, Dalian City

    On August 8th, 2009, Ms. Wang Yan and another Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Sun Shurong, were arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong on Ganjingzi Street in the Ganjingzi District. They were taken to the police station and then to Yaojia Detention Centre in Dalian City. While in detention, Ms. Wang developed serious health problems. Police were fully aware of her condition but refused to take her to the hospital for treatment. As a result, her condition worsened. They did not release her until her life was in imminent danger. Despite her poor health, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents still went to Ms. Wang's home to harass her. In particular, Zhao Xinzhao never stopped harassing her. Ms. Wang died on February 24th, 2010.
  • Lawsuit in the Shenhe District Court in Shenyang City Dismissed After Practitioners' Attorneys and Colleagues Get Involved

    The Shenhe Police Department, together with the local police, arrested more than ten Falun Gong practitioners from September to November 2009. They were detained in the Shenyang City Detention Station while awaiting trial. Wang Yuchun's family hired a lawyer and as a result was harassed by the Shenyang 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). The Shenyhe District Court was intimidated by the involvement of the lawyers. On Feb. 5th, 2010, Judge Li Hong suddenly informed the attorneys about the dismissal of the case.
  • Facts About the Persecution of Practitioners at the Xinxiang Medical School in Henan Province

    On July 20th, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party started to severely persecute Falun Gong. The director of the Xinxiang medical school, Li Rongtang, supervisors and other related staff of the attached hospital, actively participated in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Mao Lanzhi personally arranged how the university students who practised Falun Gong would be persecuted - disallowing them to go to classes, locking them in a room, monitoring them, putting them into brainwashing classes, and they even wrote articles promoting how they did their work transforming [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] practitioners.
  • Ms. Zhang Shulan Suffered from Persecution in Fujin City, Heilongjiang Province

    Ms. Zhang Shulan and her husband were detained in forced labour camps at the same time. Ms. Zhang's whole family suffered from persecution, and were torn apart. Three of them were detained in prison and had many close encounters with death. Ms. Zhang's husband, Mr. Li Shaotie was detained at Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp for two years. He suffered from inhuman torture for days at a time during those two years. Since 2004, he was detained at Suihua Forced Labour Camp for total three years. During that period, he was cruelly persecuted by more than ten different torture methods and had been at the brink of death more than ten times. He wasn't released until he was in critical condition.
  • Teacher of the Year Mr. She Chengbang and His Wife Imprisoned

    Mr. She Chengbang and his wife, Peng Xia, were arrested by agents of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in April 2009. In December, the court tried and sentenced them and several other practitioners to imprisonment. They had to leave their two-year-old in the care of their elderly parents, who now have no means of support. In 2000, Mr. She was detained in a forced labour camp for three years. He had been selected as teacher of the year at the high school, but was fired because he refused to give up his beliefs. Over the years, the CCP has never let up in persecuting him financially.
  • Ms. Liu Chunyan Held for Over Six Months in Rugao City Detention Centre

    On September 19th, 2009, Ms. Liu Chunyan was taken into custody by police. Her husband and her son, who were later released, were also apprehended. She was detained in the Rugao City Detention Centre and has now been there for over six months. It was said that she was detained because she used mobile phone text messaging to clarify the facts about Falun Gong and was monitored by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Fearing for her daughter's health, Ms. Liu's mother, over 70 years old, travelled a long way at the end of last year to request her daughter's release, but returned empty handed.
  • Ms. Tang Wenyan Faces Trial in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province

    On October 25th, 2009, Ms. Tang Wenyan, 41, was arrested by officers from Yantian Police Station because she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. She was then sent to the Dongguang First Detention Centre. Since being detained, her family members haven't been allowed to visit. On February 22nd, 2010, the Dongguang Intermediate Court told Ms. Tang's family to get a lawyer for her because her case would be heard on March 3rd. After the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, Chinese Communist Party members tried to force her to give up practising Falun Gong, but to no avail. As a result, she was fired from her job.
  • Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Changsha Recently Arrested

    During two meetings of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), from March 2nd to 5th, 2010, four Falun Gong practitioners from Changsha were arrested. Several of their homes were inspected by community workers. Some of their places of employment were watched all day by community workers. They were also harassed by phone. Mr. Huang Yonghui has been detained multiple times. He can no longer work because he is physically disabled as a result of being beaten in Chishan Prison in Hunan Province. Mr. Liu Muyu was detained for 15 days in the Changsha Detention Centre in December 2009.
