Falun Gong Practitioners Ms. Liu Yuxia and Ms. Bai Chunhua Die as Result of Persecution

Ms. Liu Yuxia Dies in Taihe County, Anhui Province

Ms. Liu Yuxia lived in the Xiaoliying Village, Balijiang Group, Santa Town, Taihe County, Anhui Province. On May 21st, 2009, she was arrested by officer Li Hu from the Santa Town Police Station when Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution together with fellow practitioners Ms. Jiang Xiumin and Ms. Sun Xiuyun. They were taken to the Santa Police Station. Ms. Liu's complexion was dark blue as a result of low oxygen in the blood caused by her heart disease. After three days the police were afraid of her dying in custody, so they decided to release her. However, they demanded 1,000 yuan1 from her family first. Ms. Jiang Xiumin and Ms. Sun Xiuyun were taken to the Taihe County Detention Centre.

The local police never left Ms. Liu alone, and they demanded that she submit the results of her physical check-up, and threatened to take her into custody at any time. Ms. Liu was severely abused both mentally and physically, and her whole body was swollen. She died on November 6th, 2009.

Ms. Bai Chunhua Dies in Tianjin City

Ms. Bai Chunhua, around 65 years old, lived near Dingzigu Community, Hongqiao District, Tianjin City. She was arrested in November 2007 while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home, took her Falun Gong books, and sentenced her to one year in a forced labour camp. Although she was released at the end of 2008, the police constantly harassed her. She died on the afternoon of August 5th, 2009.
