  • Ms. Wang Gaizhen Sent to Forced Labour Camp in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province for Two Years

    Practitioner Ms. Wang Gaizhen is a nurse. She was arrested at work for her beliefs on July 26th by police. After being detained for more than a month at the Datong Detention Centre, she was sentenced to two years of forced labour on September 17th. She is imprisoned at the Xindian Women's Forced Labour Camp in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. This is the third time that Ms. Wang has been arrested for her beliefs. She was arrested for telling others the facts about Falun Gong on November 2nd, 2001, and was subjected to three years of forced labour at the Xindian Women's Forced Labour Camp.
  • Mr. Li Haidong in Serious Condition, Jidong Prison Refuses to Release Him on Medical Bail

    On February 24th, 2009, police arrested and tortured Mr. Li Haidong because he practises Falun Gong. The Zunhua City Court sentenced Mr. Li to five years in Jidong Prison in Tangshan City. On September 7th, Mr. Li went on a protest hunger strike in the prison and was force-fed. By the time of this report, he had not eaten for over 40 days. On October 14th, Mr. Li's brothers and relatives and the head of Xiaonian Village went to Jidong Prison to visit him. Mr. Li was pale and emaciated. Three inmates had to carry him to the visiting room because he was too weak to walk on his own.
  • First-Hand Persecution Account from Liu Fengbao of Yushu City, Jilin Province

    Because I practise Falun Gong, I have been arrested five times. I was detained twice in the Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp, where I was brutally tortured both physically and mentally. In July 2003, I was taken to Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp by police. I was forced to squat for a prolonged period of time. The guards also ordered a criminal inmate to pour water over my head. Practitioners who were not "transformed" [forcibly renounced Falun Gong] were each forced to sit on a small stool. We had to carry dirt and bricks on our backs, and to work from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. without a break from the demanding work. Sometimes we had to work until midnight or even 1:00 a.m. Guard Gao Zhilu often beat us.
  • Ms. Hu Yunhuai on Verge of Death due to Torture

    Ms. Hu Yunhuai was arrested on May 7th, 2010, and put on trial by the Xichang City Court in September. The verdict has not been disclosed, but she is being held at the Tuohuang Detention Centre in Xichang. Ms. Hu's dentures were confiscated while in detention. In June, she felt that something was stuck in her throat and requested a medical check-up, but it was denied. She lost weight rapidly and now weighs only around 35 kg. She could only take in liquid food provided by her daughter and thus became extremely weak. Ms. Hu was denied medical treatment for four months. She was diagnosed with late-stage oesophagus cancer and is now on the verge of death.
  • Mr. Qin Yongjie Taken to Weifang Detention Centre

    On September 25th, Mr. Qin Yongjie, a teacher in the Physics Department of Weifang University in Shandong Province, was arrested on his way to work. He was taken to the Weifang Detention Centre. The police took keys from his pockets and conducted a search of his home, confiscating a picture of the founder of Falun Gong and a set of Falun Gong books. Since the suppression of Falun Gong began in 1999, the Chinese Communist regime has not allowed this kindhearted university teacher to live in peace and has repeatedly arrested and detained him, ransacked his home, and taken him to forced labour camps.
  • Mr. Wu Shengli Sent to Forced Labour Camp

    Mr. Wu Shengli is a teacher. He has followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance since he started practising Falun Gong. Police arrested Mr. Wu when he was seen talking to people about Falun Gong on August 31st. He was sentenced to one year and three months of forced labour, and sent to the Anhui Province Juvenile Labour Camp on October 9th. When Mr. Wu's family went to visit him on October 13th, a guard told them," We have plenty of methods to get him to change his belief."
  • Husband Sent to Forced Labour Camp Three Times--Wife Repeatedly Tortured

    Ms. Guo Yujun and her husband Mr. Liu Changping both practise Falun Gong and no longer have illnesses. They lived a happy life. However, during the past ten years of persecution, Mr. Liu Changping was sentenced to forced labour three times and was brutally tortured. Ms. Guo Yujun has been detained in the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp twice. During her detention in the police stations, detention centres, and labour camps, she was shocked with electric batons and brutally forced-fed. She was at times on the verge of death.
  • The Ordeals of Retired Doctor Liu Maimei

    I was sent to the Hewan Forced Labour Camp for practising Falun Gong. As soon as I arrived, I was subjected to surveillance by other prisoners. I encountered collaborators, former practitioners who are made to assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners, and was subjected to non stop, around the clock brainwashing tactics. I was forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong and forced to write a self-examination every day. I was also intimidated and tempted with promises of rewards if I capitulated and gave up Falun Gong. I was deprived of sleep, and denied use of the toilet. The whole time I was in the labour camp, I was subjected to brainwashing and forced labour.
  • Teacher at Minzu University of China Sentenced

    The Haidian District Court in Beijing sentenced Ms. Liang Bo to three-and-a-half years of imprisonment on October 22nd. Ms. Liang was recently arrested on May 20th, by police. Officer Dong Yongping viciously beat her, cursed at her, deprived her of sleep, forced her to wear the inmate uniform, and forcibly cut her hair. Dong, who weighs around 170 pounds, also sat on her chest and pressed his left leg hard against her chest, fracturing her costal cartilage and inducing internal bleeding.
  • Ms. Wang Guoxin and Ms. Xing Liqiu Persecuted for Talking to People About Falun Gong

    Ms. Wang Guoxin and Ms. Xing Liqiu from Dezhou City, Shandong Province, were arrested by police on October 12th, when they were seen speaking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong at a local market. They were detained at Dongdi Police Station and then taken to Dezhou Detention Centre the same day. Zhang Xikun, from the Public Security branch in Decheng District, led other officers to ransack Ms. Xing's home. They confiscated a computer, Falun Gong books, and a mobile phone.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Cai Guijiao from Hunan Province Persecuted

    During the over 10-year-long persecution, like tens of thousands of other practitioners, Ms. Cai Guijiao, 60, was arrested several times and her home was ransacked. She was even held in a brainwashing centre and sentenced to forced labour. On October 13th, 2010, police took forcibly Ms. Cai to a brainwashing centre. Ms. Cai was brutally tortured for 60 days. Guards forced her to watch video programmes that slandered Falun Gong and its founder all the time. They forced her to stand still for a long time. Sometimes they tied her hands and legs and hung her to the frame of a TV set, in an attempt to force her to write the Three Statements guaranteeing not to practise Falun Gong.
  • The Persecution of Ms. Lu Na and Ms. Wang Huanhua

    Ms. Lu Na and Ms. Wang Huanhua are both Falun Gong practitioners. While visiting Ms. Wang in April this year, Ms. Lu went out with her on the 29th of the month to distribute Falun Gong DVDs to passersby in Nanjing City. Unfortunately they were reported to the local police. The local police informed their Hefei City counterparts, and the women were arrested that same day. Even though the police released them in June, they have never stopped harassing them at home. During interrogation police slapped their faces. They also drew blood samples. At the detention centre they were kept in different cells where the space for each person to sleep at was only 20 centimetres wide, so they had to sleep on their sides. At night, the guards made them stand still for two hours without giving them water or allowing them any toilet breaks.
  • Ms. Lin Huijin, Who Regained Her Vision after Practising Falun Gong, Arrested in Guangdong Province

    They took thousands of yuan from Ms. Lin's business and also arrested Ms. Wu, who was at the shop. Since July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been persecuting those that practise Falun Gong. Ms. Lin was harassed many times by the CCP authorities. They threatened her and she was arrested, and her home was raided. Because Ms. Lin treated people kindly and fairly, her business became very successful. Customers liked to chat and purchase her products. Shockingly, that became the excuse for the CCP to arrest and persecute her. The police director told Ms. Lin's husband, "There were too many people who went to her shop, so it must be a contact point for Falun Gong."
  • Music Teacher Ma Junyan, 55, from Shangdong Province Held in Labour Camp

    On September 14th, Ms. Ma Junyan was arrested by authorities from the Rushan 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and National Security Team because she wrote letters to people who are deceived by the CCP, telling them the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was taken away while at school. Her home was raided and her computer, Falun Gong books, and other personal items were taken. She was transferred to Wangchun Forced Labour Camp on October 13th. In 2001, she refused to sign her name opposing Falun Gong at her school and she was arrested and transferred to the Rushan brainwashing centre.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wang Shupei Devastated by Repeated, Forced Drug Injections

    To force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their beliefs, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) uses a variety of means, including the forceful administration of harmful drugs. Their aim is to persecute Falun Gong practitioners, cause them to have mental disorders, achieve the so-called "transformation" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] and in the meantime, avoid having their deeds be exposed. Ms. Wang Shupei went on hunger strike to protest the persecution in Zhaoyuan Detention Centre. She was sent to the Zhaoyuan City People's Hospital, where the doctors gave her injections. Three minutes after the injections, Wang Shupei started feeling their effects. She was confused and wanted to scream, and felt like she was having a nervous breakdown.
