New Form of Torture Devised in Harbin Prison: Sitting on the Side of A Small Folded Stool

In the spring of 2004, Mr. Yuan Qingjiang was arrested and taken to Harbin Prison. As he refused to be transformed, he was tortured by being forced to sit on the side of a small folded stool for 18 days. He was ordered to stretch his arms forward in parallel and to both sides. He was deprived of sleep and suffered violent beatings. Due to the severe torture, he had a pleural effusion, and became ultimately fatigued and faint. On July 1st, 2004, Mr. Yuan Qingjiang was transferred from Harbin Prison to Daqing Prison. On July 23rd, 2005, he passed away. -
Officials from Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp, Changchun City, Jinlin Province, Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners with Drugs
2010-11-12Since 1999, the Chinese Communist Party has used drugs as one of the most insidious means to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The practitioners have been given a great number of forced drug injections that damage the central nervous system, causing them to become disoriented or even to even lose their speech within a few hours. A practitioner witnessed this type of persecution: " A guard took practitioner Ms. Zhao Jinling away. Two hours later when Ms. Zhao was brought back, her eyes looked very dull and teary. She couldn't talk, she drooled uncontrollably, and her limbs were numb. She lost her awareness and didn't realize that she should wear clothes. After she went to the toilet, she didn't know that she should pull her trousers up." -
Chenzui Village Police Officers in Tianjin Arrest and Extort Money from Practitioners
2010-11-12Villager Li Guosheng falsely accused a male practitioner from the same village of burning an antithetical couplet [two lines of poetry traditionally placed on the doors of people's homes] on March 15th, 2007. The practitioner, who had just begun practising Falun Gong, learned of Li's accusation and asked another practitioner, Ms. Huang Xixiu, to go with him to explain the facts about Falun Gong to Li. When they arrived at Li's home, only his daughter-in-law was there. The two practitioners told her of their visit and explained, "Falun Gong practitioners cultivate Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance and would definitely do no such thing." Li Guosheng's daughter-in-law became irrational and called Li. Li returned home and told the practitioners, "I reported you to the authorities." Police arrested Ms. Huang the next day, ransacked her home, and extorted money from Ms. Huang. -
Zhao Guiyin Detained at Heilongjiang Provincial Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labour Camp
2010-11-12Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Guiying is being detained at the Heilongjiang Provincial Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labour Camp. Since the Chinese communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Zhao has been arrested five times due to her belief. Officers from the Qiaonan Police Station in Jiamusi City arrested her in 2005 and threatened her family that she would be imprisoned for a long time if her family didn't pay them money. Four involved policemen extorted 2000 yuan from the family and pocketed 500 yuan each in front of them. Only then did they release Ms. Zhao. -
The Brutal Torture Suffered by Ms. Liu Yanqin in Masanjia Labour Camp
2010-11-11Ms. Liu Yanqin, a Falun Gong practitioner in her fifties, was sentenced to two years of forced labour in 2008. She was hung up for eight hours with both arms stretched out to the extreme and her legs tied together with a rope. This is an extremely inhumane, cruel form of torture. Ms. Liu was also shocked with electric batons and brutally tortured in Masanjia Labour Camp. As a result of torture, she cannot bend her fingers and lift her arms. Her hair has turned completely white. -
More Information About the Deaths of Mr. Zhou Zuofu and His Son
2010-11-11Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Zuofu was arrested eight times by police. He was detained, subjected to brainwashing, and sentenced to forced labour. He was severely tortured at Majialong Forced Labour Camp. They eventually mixed drugs into his food that led to his mental collapse. His weight dropped from about 150 pounds to 90 pounds. He passed away on March 6th, 2007. Mr. Zhou Zuofu's son, Mr. Zhou Zhibin, was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour for practising Falun Gong. He was tortured and mistreated for a long period of time, which severely damaged his health. He fell ill and died on May 14th, 2005. He was only 31 years old. -
Ms. Gao Xunhong Recounts the Persecution She Suffered
2010-11-11On December 7th, 2005, a dozen police officers suddenly burst in to my grain store and arrested me. I was taken to Shuangcheng Detention Centre. When I went on a hunger strike to protest my persecution, the guards dragged me into a car and took me to Shuangcheng Hospital. They inserted a rubber tube into my nose to force-feed me. When they finished with the force-feeding, I threw up everything onto the bed. The guards then shouted and ordered that the force-feeding continue. They did not remove the tube after force-feeding me this time. When I returned to the detention centre, they force-fed me every hour, while my hands were cuffed to the railings. On my 13th day in the detention centre, I had severe stomach pains and felt terrible for a day and night. I was diagnosed with a perforated appendix. -
Ms. Li Yangfen Unable to Care for Herself After Being Tortured
2010-11-11Ms. Li Yangfen was arrested on September 27th, 2010 by staff from the Xingwen 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) while she was at a supermarket. Ms. Li was detained at the Xingwen Detention Centre for 15 days. Her family sent 50 yuan for her to buy necessities, but the guards didn't allow her to buy them. They even prevented her from using the toothbrush and toothpaste that her family brought for her. Ms. Li wasn't allowed to brush her teeth at all during the 15 days she was detained. Ten days after being detained, Ms. Li fainted in the toilet and was not discovered until half an hour later, when another detainee went to use the toilet. -
Mr. Zhang Qingjun, 61, Tortured to Death at the Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp
2010-11-10Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Qingjun was subjected to one year of forced labour at the Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp on October 22nd. Eight days later, Mr. Zhang's family received a phone call from the labour camp informing them that Mr. Zhang had died from a heart attack. Previously, on September 10th Mr. Zhang and his wife were arrested and taken to a brainwashing facility. Dozens of agents from Tumen City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) unsuccessfully attempted to force Mr. Zhang to give up his belief. Ten days later they took Mr. Zhang to the Anshan Detention Centre. Then later transferred him to Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp. -
Please Help Stop the Persecution of My Mother, Xia Aihua
2010-11-10On October 15th, five people who claimed to be from the community office and local police station banged and kicked at the door and window of our home. They yelled that they would break in if we refused to open the door. After we opened the door, they demanded that my mother come with them. They left a phone number and a contact name before arresting her. Later my father was told that my mother was taken to a brainwashing centre to be "transformed" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong]. The name and phone number they had left behind were non-existent. -
Mr. Wu Hongjun Sentenced to Three Years--Authorities Ignore Appeal
2010-11-10Mr. Wu was riding a motorcycle on March 28th, when police stopped him using the excuse of checking his licence plate. The police searched his bag and confiscated Falun Gong materials, including over 100 yuan in notes that had Falun Gong content written on them, DVDs exposing the persecution of Falun Gong and pamphlets, and other personal belongings. They arrested him and took him to the Third Detention Centre of Duli Township in Ranghulu District. The Ranghulu District Court sentenced him to three years in prison on June 8th. His appeal was ignored by the authorities and he is still being detained. -
Senior Engineer Dies After Nine Years of Persecution
2010-11-10On January 13th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Li Jiagong died after nine years of continuous harassment and persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In 2001, Li Jiagong was arrested for mailing information about Falun Gong. He was taken to a police station, handcuffed to a chair and deprived of sleep for over a week. He developed a serious cough and a hernia. In 2003, his son was given an 11-year prison term for practising Falun Gong. Li Jiagong suffered a lot as he missed his son and worried about his physical well-being. Police often harassed Li at home. Li struggled under this oppressive atmosphere until he eventually became very sick and died on January 13th, 2009. -
Ms. Hu Yunhuai of Xichang, Sichuan Province Dies in Tuohuang Prison
2010-11-09Practitioner Ms. Hu Yunhuai, 54, was in good health when she was arrested on May 7th, 2010. The officers seized the computer and printer she used for her tailoring business, saying that they found the words "Minghui.net" (Chinese version of the Falun Gong website Clearwisdom.net) on her computer. Her health declined as a result of persecution and she was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. Five months later on October 23rd, 2010, she died in the Tuohuang Prison in Xichang, Sichuan Province. -
Ms. Qiao Shuqin from Jilin City, Jilin Province Died as a Result of Long-Term Persecution
2010-11-09Ms. Qiao Shuqin, 60, died on May 16th, 2010, after suffering 11 years of intense persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for her belief in Falun Gong. Prior to her death, Ms. Qiao had been subjected to harassment, and multiple arrests and detentions. She was also forced to leave her home and go into hiding. Ms. Qiao's two daughters have also suffered persecution at the hands of the CCP. Her oldest daughter was detained in a forced labour camp for three years for practising Falun Gong, and her youngest daughter was sentenced to five years in prison for practising Falun Gong and is currently incarcerated in Jilin Women's Prison. -
11 Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province
2010-11-09On the evening of October 26th, Jinzhou City police arrested eleven Falun Gong practitioners. Qi Xiaohong was not even allowed to put shoes on and Tang Jiwen's home was ransacked. The police followed the practitioners home, broke in once they were inside, and took away personal belongings while arresting them. Currently, the practitioners are jailed in Jinzhou City Detention Centre.
