Huang Huajie, Former Shareholder Chairman of the Jiedong Land and Resource Bureau, Arrested Again
2011-12-30
Because of believing in Falun Gong and the principles of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Huajie has been arrested and detained at brainwashing centres and forced labour camps. He was sentenced several times by the 610 Offices (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). Following his release from a forced labour camp, the local 610 Office continued monitoring him. Mr. Huang was arrested again on November 8th. -
Ms. Shen Huafeng Sentenced to Four-Year Term in Tianjin
2011-12-30Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shen Huafeng was sentenced to four years detention on September 19th, 2011. Her appeal was rejected by a written statement issued on November 2nd, and she was not given a chance to appear in court to argue her case. -
Older Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Huang Meiling Dies Tragically; Numerous Scars from Electric Shocks on Her Body
2011-12-29On December 10th, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Huang Meiling died at the age of 63 despite efforts to save her at the Wuhan No. 1 Hospital. There were numerous scars on her head, underarms, inner thighs, buttocks, arms and legs. These scars were apparently caused by electric shocks and it is alleged that Ms. Huang was killed by electric shocks. Ms. Huang's body was burnt in several places and it produced a burnt smell. The medical staff commented, “What a smell! It really smells!” -
Ms. Zheng Cuifang Taken to a Brainwashing Centre After Finishing Forced Labour Term
2011-12-29November 4th was the date when Ms. Zheng Cuifang, 50, finished her two-year forced labour term. However, officers from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Nantong City and the Zhongxiu Town government personnel transferred her from the labour camp to a brainwashing centre located at the Beige Hotel. In Jiangsu Province Women's Forced Labour Camp, Ms. Zheng was forced to participate in “training” every day. Guards only allowed her to sleep for one hour, and inmates kicked and beat her any time they wanted to. Just because she practises Falun Gong, Ms. Zheng was persecuted many times. -
Mr. Liang Zhihong Detained in Prison for Six Years and Repeatedly Tortured
2011-12-29Mr. Liang Zhihong was arrested for practising Falun Gong in July 2001 and was sentenced to six years in prison. He was transferred to three different prisons and was repeatedly tortured. As a result, his teeth loosened and his forearm was broken. He still has not recovered. In the Lingyuan Prison, Mr. Liang was twice confined in a small cell. The first time was because he practised the Falun Gong exercises. Guard Li Zhimin shocked his neck with an electric baton. Mr. Liang was confined in the small cell for more than 50 days. The small cell is 9 feet long and less than 3 feet wide. There is a bed, tap and a toilet in it. -
Three Female Falun Gong Practitioners Sentenced in Yitong County, Jilin Province
2011-12-29Recently, Ms. Lin Liyan, Ms. Zhao Fenglan, and Ms. Wang Guizhen from Yitong County, Jilin Province, were sentenced. On March 22nd, 2011, the practitioners put up Falun Gong posters. They were reported by a villager and policde took them away and detained them in the Siping City Detention Centre, where they remain. The police colluded with personnel from the Yitong Procuratorate and the Yitong Court to fabricate evidence and create unsubstantiated charges. Recently, Mrs. Lin was sentenced to four years in prison, and Ms. Zhao and Ms. Wang to three and a half years each. -
A Practitioner’s Personal Account of Persecution
2011-12-28On September 20th, more than 30 police officers broke into Falun Gong practitioners He Chunsheng and Hao Zhifen’s home, and took the couple away. Ms. Hao Zhifen developed serious symptoms of coronary heart disease while being detained and subjected to persecution. Fearing being held responsible for her possible death, the authorities released her. Ms. Hao recounts: "I was very healthy prior to this. Nine days of detention has left me weak, and I now have difficulty breathing, and walking, and I have shown signs of severe morbidity. Policeman Shi Huanjin fabricated charges against me and sent me to the Langfang Detention Centre. I am now ill and cannot take care of myself. My two children had to suspend their schooling to take care of me. My husband He Chunsheng is still being held at the Yongqing County Detention Centre and is denied family visits." -
The 610 Office in Guangan City, Sichuan Province, Set Up a Brainwashing Centre in the Countryside
2011-12-28Before the Olympic Games in 2008, the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Guangan City, Sichuan Province, working with public security and politics and law committees from all levels, participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in the entire city. They arrested practitioners and then transferred them to a remote mountain location, the Tianchi Professional School, in Huaying City. Practitioners were detained there for as long as a month, until the Olympic games were over. At that time, thugs patrolled outside and threatened the practitioners with large, green, wooden clubs. -
Seventy-Three-Year-Old Ms. Wang Minghui from the Wanzhou District, Chongqing Arrested
2011-12-28Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Minghui, 73, went to the Yanjiadun Neighbourhood Committee with her daughter on November 4th. She wanted to inquire about the withholding of her pension. Committee head Liu Dinghong reported her to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials. Shortly afterward, Pailou Office head Ran Ruiying arrived along with several people in a van, and took Ms. Wang to the Bayi Hotel Brainwashing Centre in Zhoujiaba against her will. It was reported that Ms. Wang refused to get into the van, so Ran Ruiying pretended to have a conversation with Ms. Wang's daughter at the other side, while other perpetrators shoved Ms. Wang into the van. Ms. Wang's skin was abraded. -
Teacher From Heilongjiang Province Subjected to Forced Labour for Third Time for Refusing to Be a Spy
2011-12-28Ms. Zhao Yuxia, 61, was an elementary school teacher in Lalin Town, Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province. Through practising Falun Gong, she regained her health. Because she wished to share how she benefited from the practice and talked to others about it, she was fired from her job and persecuted. Recently, she was subjected to forced labour for the third time. It was very difficult for her family to find out where she was being held. Ms. Zhao refused the police's demand that she act as a spy so she was subjected to forced labour. -
Ms. Tan Qi Miscarried after Being Severely Beaten and Has Been Incarcerated for Nine Years
2011-12-27On September 18th, 2004, more than 200 police officers and several dozen police cars surrounded the home of Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Tan Qi and her husband, and broke in. The officers arrested the couple and took them to the Dabailou Detention Centre. Even though Ms. Tan Qi was pregnant at the time, Guard Zhang Pujuan instigated the inmates to beat her. The inmates beat and kicked her. She fell down and rolled all over. The inmates took turns beating and torturing her. They grabbed her hair and smashed her head against the wall, shocked her with electric batons, and deprived her of water and sleep. Ms. Tan was black and blue all over and couldn't stand up. The torture caused her to miscarry, and she bled profusely. In April 2005, Ms. Tan was sentenced to nine years in prison. -
Mr. Shao Yanbo's Eight-Year Prison Term Ends; He Narrowly Escapes Being Re-arrested by 610 Office Agents
2011-12-27Student Mr. Shao Yanbo went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in 1999 and was detained for two weeks by police. University authorities forced him to suspend his studies. Gansu Province State Security Department agents arrested him on December 7th, 2003, and handed him an eight-year imprisonment. Mr. Shao's term expired on December 7th, 2011. 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) unsuccessfully attempted to take him directly from the prison to a brainwashing facility to continue persecuting him. -
Linquan County Trial of Four Practitioners a Farce
2011-12-27The Linquan County Court in Anhui Province recently put Mr. Wang Shengli, Ms. Ma Yuling, Ms. Yu Zuzhi, and Ms. Yuan Xiaoqiong on trial. All five attorneys, including the one assigned by the court, thought the four Falun Gong practitioners were innocent. The presiding judge could not find evidence to support the accusation in the case documents. Tao Jingwen, the public prosecutor, did not dare to raise her head once during the entire proceedings. The proceedings were a farce. The court still has not announced its decision. -
Police in Wanzhou District, Chongqing City Detain Four Seniors at a Brainwashing Centre
2011-12-27Police arrested four practitioners who are in their seventies on October 25th. They took the practitioners to a brainwashing centre. Practitioners detained are forced to watch propaganda slandering Falun Gong and write statements promising to never practise Falun Gong again. Each practitioner is locked in a room with two perpetrators. Three people live in the same room. They are not allowed to leave the room or contact any other people. This so-called “study session” uses a variety of means to threaten and torture practitioners. When practitioners are tortured so badly that they can no longer eat, the perpetrators force-feed the practitioner as additional torture. One time, a practitioner almost died during the force-feeding. -
Mr. Shang Dexing Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Hiring a Lawyer
2011-12-26On the afternoon of May 3rd, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Shang Dexing was arrested and subsequently tried in court. His family engaged two lawyers to defend him. In the process of engaging a lawyer, as well as when the lawyers requested to see Mr. Shang, officials threatened and made trouble for both the family and lawyers. The judge in the Laoshan Court said, “Because you hired a lawyer, I sentence you to three years of imprisonment.”
