The Persecution of Government Worker Ms. Li Jinan, Known for Her Kindness and Generosity

There was an article published entitled "Kind-hearted Teacher Li, Where Are You?" in the Kunshan Daily in Jiangsu Province, on March 27th, 2006. The article told a story about Ms. Li Jinan, who had supported an impoverished student for years. When the article was published, Ms. Li was in jail. She had been sentenced to three and a half years of imprisonment because she practised Falun Gong. In May 2006, Ms. Li was released from prison, but she was closely monitored. Her mother was frightened by the police and had a heart attack after she visited Ms. Li. -
Human Rights Attorney Defends Falun Gong Practitioners on Trial in Xichang City
2010-06-01The court in Xichang City, Sichuan Province held a trial of Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Lu Yuancui and Ms. Xia Huiqiong on April 28th, 2010. During the evidence stage of the trial, Jiang Hua and Jin Kebin from the City Procuratorate showed six CDs as "evidence" in order to frame Lu Yuancui and Xia Huiqiong. A policeman even took away the case files that the attorney was reading. The attorney pointed out that there was no witness and no signature on the confession, and according to the law, the witness testimony is void. The trial ended in a hurry after a strong defence from a human rights attorney. -
Ms. Zhang Zhenmin Sent to Brainwashing Centre after Serving an Eight-year Sentence
2010-06-01Ms. Zhang Zhenmin is a 47-year-old Falun Gong practitioner. She was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment and should have been released on May 2nd, 2010. Instead, she was sent to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Centre in Lanzhou. In prison she was subjected to beatings, electric shocks, hanging up by the handcuffs, and other forms of torture. In July 2004, Ms. Zhang was beaten by police because she took down a board that defamed Falun Gong. The police hung her by her handcuffed wrists, and subjected her to electric shocks and other tortures in the toilet for seven to eight days. -
Report on the Persecution of Practitioners Taking Care of Ms. Liu Zhimei
2010-06-01On April 16th, 2010, police jumped over the wall and arrested Ms. Liu Zhimei, a former student from Tsinghua University who became mentally disordered as a result of persecution, and four practitioners who were taking care of her. They were interrogated at the police station until the afternoon and were given no food or water. -
The Torture I Experienced in Liaoning Province Women's Prison
2010-05-31On April 12th, 2003, I was reported to the police as a Falun Gong practitioner and was arrested. I was detained in the Fuxing Detention Centre, Liaoning Province. In March 2004 I was sentenced to four years imprisonment and transferred in Liaoning Province Women's Prison. I experienced and witnessed many types of torture used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners: sleep deprivation, physical punishment, in winter pouring freezing cold water over the naked body, constant beatings, sleeping on a hard board, not being allowed to use the toilet, no toilet paper, confiscating food and everyday goods, confiscating money, being hung up, gagged, stuffed into a box, and the list goes on. Force-feedings with unknown drugs made several practitioners develop mental disorders. The torture caused numerous disabilities. -
Medical Doctor and Her Mother Arrested, Their Homes Ransacked
2010-05-31On May 5th, Ms. Li, Junying, a medical doctor from Handan City, Hebei Province, was reported to the police while she was explaining the facts about Falun Gong. She was arrested and her home was ransacked. On the same night at around midnight, Ms. Li's mother, Ms. Wang Xiumei, was also arrested and her home ransacked without cause. Both mother and daughter are now detained at the Wei County Police Bureau. -
Nurse Ms. Liang Xiulan Sentenced to an Eight-Year Prison Term
2010-05-31On May 4th, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liang Xiulan was taken to the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison. An attorney who had seen her in the detention centre said, "Although I am not related to her, I couldn't bear to look at her because she had been tortured in the detention centre. She looked so pitiful." During the past year, police officers from the Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Liang Xiulan three times. She was brutal tortured and near death. On December 3rd, 2009, police and the court agreed to sentence Ms. Liang to an eight-year prison term. -
Daughter About to Take College Entrance Exams When Mother Sent to Forced Labour
2010-05-31Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wen Cuijua's daughter is preparing to take her college entrance exams in June. During this most critical time, all parents show great attention and solicitude to their children, with the hopes that they achieve good scores and enter an ideal university. Unfortunately however, on March 2nd, 2010, Ms. Wen was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division of Qianan City, and on March 4th, she was sent to the Kaiping Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City. She was arrested because she believed in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. During this most crucial time when Ms. Wen's daughter needs her mother the most, her mother was taken away from her. -
Shantou City Court Clerk Mr. Xie Chunfeng Tortured
2010-05-30Over the last 10 years, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xie Chunfeng has been repeatedly detained for refusing to give up his belief in Falun Gong. After the persecution began in July 1999, Mr. Xie went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. He was arrested for doing the sitting meditation in Tiananmen Square. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Xie was detained and tortured in a mental hospital. He was subsequently subjected to multiple arrests, brainwashing, several periods of long-term detention, torture, and forced labour. -
Mr. Yang Jianjun Sentenced to Ten Years in Prison Following Forced Labour, Wife Also Imprisoned
2010-05-30Mr. Yang Jianjun went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in 2000. However, he was arrested and sentenced to three years of forced labour at the Xuchang City Third Labour Camp. In January 2007, police officers stormed into his home in Xuchang City, assaulted him and arrested him again. He was sentenced to 18 months of forced labour at the Xuchang City Third Labour Camp. When his term ended in June 2008, Xuchang City 610 Office took him to the Linzhou City Detention Centre. In October 2008, Mr. Yang was sentenced by the Linzhou City Court to 10 years in prison. Mr. Yang's wife, also a Falun Gong practitioner, was also arrested in May 2008 and sentenced to three and a half years in the Xinxiang City Prison. -
Ms. Wang Huilin from Tangshan City Persecuted and Put on Trial
2010-05-30Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Huili persisted in her belief and explained the facts about Falun Gong and exposed the persecution to people. After sending her to one term of forced labour, the police arrested Ms. Wang once again in December 2009. She lost consciousness in the Fengnan Court during a trial on April 16th, 2010. Prior to this trial, Fengnan District Domestic Security Division agents tortured Ms. Wang. She was made to sit on a bench for extended periods, was placed in shackles, and brutally assaulted. -
Mr. Yu Lianhe Persecuted in a Forced Labour Camp for the Third Time
2010-05-30Before the persecution, our family of three practised Falun Gong. It brought enormous improvement in our health and mind. This was especially so for my wife, who completely regained her health after practising Falun Gong. However, everything collapsed after the Communist Party launched the persecution. My wife and I were both arrested. I was sent to a forced labour camp for a year. Following that, I was again apprehended and sent to a labour camp for two more years. Unable to bear the stress from the persecution and from supporting the family by herself, my wife gave up practising and filed for a divorce. Some locals who did not know the truth thought that it was my practice that destroyed my family. -
The Tragic Death of 66-Year-Old Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zhang Zhiyun
2010-05-29Ms. Zhang Zhiyun was 66 years old in late April 2009. She had been very healthy. In order to attend her daughter's graduation ceremony abroad, she went to her local police station to apply for a passport. The person in charge of the 610 Office denied her application, stating that she was not a legal citizen. Ms. Zhang disputed this false notion, and the office personnel made her a cup of tea, which she drank. Soon after her visit to the 610 Office, she started vomiting blood. She soon died under suspicious circumstances. -
Shot by the Police and Sent to Jail for 14 Years of Torture
2010-05-29Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Honglu was shot by policeman Meng Qingqi in Mishan City on February 12th, 2002. Mr. Jiang was sentenced to 14 years in prison and sent to Hada Prison in Jixi City in 2003 and in July of that year was transferred to Mudanjiang Prison. Mr. Jiang's muscles have atrophied, and he became very sick due to the long term torture. Now he cannot eat or sleep well, and is skin and bones. He cannot catch his breath when he walks. His family has been negotiating with the prison, but prison officials have been reluctant to talk and are refusing to release him. -
Brutal Torture in the Judong Forced Labour Camp
2010-05-29Ms. Lu Yaqin was 56 years old in 2001. She was beaten and shocked by five or six male wardens with electric batons simultaneously for over two hours. The wardens kept asking her if she was a Falun Gong practitioner. She always answered "yes," and the wardens continued torturing her. At the end of the torture session, her left foot was paralysed and she was unable to stand under her own power. The beating caused a large blister full of blood on her forehead. When the blister broke, her face was covered with blood.
