Why Must This Two-Year Old Suffer?

Yu Jialiang is the two-year-old daughter of Beijing Falun Gong practitioners Yu Ping and Zhao Yumin. Little Jialiang should be living a happy and peaceful life with her loving family, but in the past year, she has witnessed the unjust arrest of both her parents. Her father was sent to Beijing Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp and her mother to Women’s Forced Labour Camp in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. Now she suffers in a broken family without parents to care for her. According to incomplete statistics, from the end of 2007 to June 30th, 2008, more than 8037 Falun Gong practitioners were detained or arrested, especially in Beijing, including Jialiang’s parents. -
Mr. Sun Yubin Detained for Seven Years and Now Arrested Again
2009-05-24Mr. Sun Yubin, 46, has been arrested and detained repeatedly since July 20th, 1999, spending a total of seven years in confinement. He has been subjected to torture and brainwashing many times and has developed a mental disorder. His son has had to drop out of school to help make ends meet. On March 26th, 2009, Mr. Sun was arrested again for promoting Falun Gong and has not been released. The authorities from the detention centre, the police patrol, and the state security division have refused to take responsibility for processing his release. Meanwhile, his entire family is suffering greatly due to his absence and the uncertainty of his condition. -
The Dark Side of Pistachio Nuts in China, Part I
2009-05-23William Huang, a Falun Gong practitioner, is one of the people who spent their youth cutting open pistachio nut shells with pliers. During an interview he told me that he had to work at least sixteen hours a day. The work was done in Cell No. 27 of Zhuhai 2nd Detention Centre, which according to Huang was less than twenty square metres big and was home to over twenty people. The room was full of products and the raw materials that they are made out of. To attend to natural calls one had to climb through these materials to reach the latrine pit in a corner which was not separated from the rest of the room. The room was never cleaned and the air was turbid. Huang witnessed a prisoner dying, not because he was beaten, but because he couldn’t stand the environment. -
Anhui Women's Forced Labour Camp Tortures Falun Gong Practitioners
2009-05-23Cheng Ming was fifty-six years old, was sent to the forced labour camp in September 2005. She was severely tortured because she refused to be "transformed." Team leader Lin Yun struck her face when she shouted, "Falun Gong is good!" Lin Yun also instigated inmates to hit her face in front of other inmates until her face got swollen and she was not able to eat. She was often tied up all night and unable to sleep. Guards often instigated inmates to beat her and seal her mouth with tape. She was detained for an extra period of time after her sentence had ended. -
Mr. Dai Guoyu from Laixi City, Shandong Province Is Sentenced
2009-05-23Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Dai Guoyu was arrested and persecuted by the local 610 Office and police department on July 30th, 2008. Under the direction of 610 Office personnel Wang Jianzhi and Shen Tao, Mr. Dai was given a three-year sentence. Mr. Dai's daughter, Dai Jin, and his wife approached the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel and requested his release many times, but Shen Tao and others shifted the responsibility and cursed at them. The police even created false evidence to frame Mr. Dai. -
The Crimes of Former Police Chief Pu Yufeng in the Persecution of Falun Gong
2009-05-23Pu Yufeng, the former chief of the Baiyigala Town Police Station in Guo County, Songyuan City, Jilin Province, had been a policeman in Dashan Town, Guo County. In the past few years, he closely followed the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to persecute Falun Gong. When he worked in Dashan Town, he mistreated many practitioners. Before the Beijing Olympic Games in August 2008, Pu and several other officers arrested Ms. Huang Yajun on June 21st, 2008. They cut the bolt on the gate to Ms. Huang home and broke in. Beating and kicking her violently, they ransacked her home and arrested her. Later she was sentenced to 18 months of forced labour. -
A Practitioner Recounts Being Force-fed and Brutally Tortured at Shayang Forced Labour Camp in Hubei Province
2009-05-22Whenever I recall the days that I spent imprisoned at Shayang Forced Labour Camp I tremble with fear. In order to protest my imprisonment I started a hunger strike. The guards physically restrained me and used a big spoon to force-feed me hot pepper water. They ordered two big drug addict criminals to drag me to the labour camp hospital. While there, they brutally force-fed me through a rubber tube, causing my mouth to bleed profusely. They then inserted a metal "mouth gag" into my mouth and adjusted it to its maximum width. In this way, my mouth was stretched to the point that it tore my lips in several places. They left me in this position for several hours, causing my mouth to become severely injured and deformed. -
Suffering in the Beijing Women's Labour Camp
2009-05-22In Beijing Women's Labour Camp the guards lock practitioners in small cells and force them to sit on a small plastic bench. They read articles and play videos that misinterpret and slander Falun Gong. Falun Gong practitioners were forced to sit there all day, except for five to six hours of sleeping time, which caused agonizing pain in the buttocks. If the practitioner refused to give up his or her belief, the guards would try different tactics, such as taking turns and using hard and soft methods. If the practitioner still refused, the guards would send them to a training team for further persecution. -
Calling for the Rescue of Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Han Xu in Lanzhou City
2009-05-22Mr. Han Xu has been brutally persecuted many times for upholding his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. On May 2nd, 2002, Mr. Han was secretly arrested by the police from the Lanzhou Public Security Bureau on his way home. The police covered his face with a black cotton bag without showing any identification or giving any explanation. In detention he was constantly beaten up, shocked with batons, forced to wear shackles and chains, and to sit on the ground in one position. He was deprived of the right to sleep and very little water was given to him. Mr. Han was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment in the Weinan Prison without any right to defend himself. -
Mr. Chen Handong Arrested and Tortured
2009-05-22On April 4th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Handong was arrested while he was waiting for a train. The policemen claimed he was a escaped convict. They then detained Handong in the Qingdao Road Detention Centre. There he started a hunger strike to protest such persecution. National security officials tied him to an "iron chair" and put him on trial. Three police interrogation teams of two in each team questioned Handong continually. They did not allow him any sleep. Handong continued his hunger strike and refused to answer any questions. The policemen had to send Handong to the hospital four times because he was suffering from severe dehydration. Each time he returned from the hospital, they continued to torture him. -
The Persecution of Practitioners from Beijing at the Hohhot Women's Forced Labour Camp in Inner Mongolia
2009-05-21According to a practitioner who was once detained at the Hohhot City Women's Forced Labour Camp, between 2001 and 2004, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) required labour camps to show a 100 per cent "transformation" rate. The "transformed" practitioners would recite their "guarantee statements," and if practitioners in the audience protested, they would be dragged out and beaten with police batons and belts. Several rooms in the labour camp had their windows covered with newspapers, and pitiful screams could often be heard from those rooms. The guards tried to force practitioners to "transform" by pressing the openings of bottles filled with boiling water to practitioners' backs and then removing the bottles. Their skin would decompose by the second day. -
Practitioners Severely Mistreated in the Strict Discipline Team of Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp in Jiutai City, Jilin Province
2009-05-21Practitioner Mr. Zhang Xincai was forced to sit straight on a hard board for a long time. Sometimes he would have to sit for over 19 hours per day. In the cold winter guards would open the door and windows widely to make him suffer from the freezing wind. As a result, Mr. Zhang suffered serious injuries. His waist and buttocks were wounded and festered from the long time sitting. He became unable to care for himself and stayed in a state of paralysis in bed for 8 months. Practitioner Mr. Li Wenzhi was subjected to violent force-feeding because he held firm to his belief. In the toilet,guards force-fed him with solutions high in salt content. Mr. Li suffered greatly from the torture. His health deteriorated severely. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured at Shandong Province No. 2 Forced Labour Camp
2009-05-21Guards at the forced labour camp hang practitioners up and deprive them of sleep. Jiang Guotun experienced this torture in January 2009. Practitioner Sun Wenjia's teeth were loosened and his gums were bleeding after being beaten by guard Song Nan. Mr. Sun went on a three-day hunger strike to protest this brutal treatment. Guard Wang Xinjiang handcuffed practitioner Wang Yuping in a toilet and forced him to stand for four days and nights. Mr. Wang's legs and feet became painfully swollen. Practitioner Lin Jingzhi's face was red and swollen from the beatings he received. -
Practitioner Ms. Yang Junlin Arrested by Beijing Shunyi District Police, Now in Critical Condition
2009-05-21On March 10th, 2009, practitioner Ms. Yang Junlin was arrested by police. Guards repeatedly used electric batons on her, until she could neither talk nor walk. Guards informed Ms. Yang's family to pick her up. She is now in critical condition. Police told Ms. Yang's husband, "It's a critical time right now. China is holding an important political meeting in Beijing. We are required to persecute one Falun Gong practitioner a day to fill our quota." -
Severe Abuse and Deaths at Mudanjiang Prison
2009-05-20Disposable chopsticks and children's clothes made at Mudanjiang Prison are all exported to Japan. These products carry lots of bacteria, germs and fleas, because the detainees who make them cannot wash for up to 20 days. They work 12 hours a day and are forced to do more work after returning to the cell at night if they didn't meet their daily quota. The guards beat people who are sick. Jin Youfeng did not meet the workload quota. The abusers tortured him with the method called "Riding an Airplane." He was also brutally beaten and force-fed pepper powder. Jin Youfeng developed severe tuberculosis and died on January 21st, 2009.
