In 2009, Shandong Province No. 2 Forced Labour Camp has used many ways to torture detained Falun Gong practitioners.

1. Hung up and deprived of sleep

Guards of the 7th team at the forced labour camp hang practitioners up and deprive them of sleep. Jiang Guotun experienced this torture in January 2009, Sun Jiawen was tortured this way in February 2009, Wang Yuping was tortured in mid-March 2009, Xie Hua was tortured from March 18th to 20th, 2009, and Lin Jingzhi was tortured from March 28th to 31st, 2009.

Also, Sun Wenjia's teeth were loosened and his gums were bleeding after being beaten by guard Song Nan. Mr. Sun went on a three-day hunger strike to protest this brutal treatment. Guard Wang Xinjiang handcuffed practitioner Wang Yuping in a toilet and forced him to stand for four days and nights. Mr. Wang's legs and feet became painfully swollen. Practitioner Lin Jingzhi's face was red and swollen from the beatings he received.

2. Sleep Deprivation

The guards of the 7th Team deprived the following practitioners of sleep: Chen Zhida from Rizhao, Ma Qingchun from Yantai, Ni Zhongping from Weifang, Gao Henfeng, Zhang Fengfu, and Li Ruijiang from Chiping.

3. Beating

On March 3rd, 2009, guard Song Nan beat practitioner Zhang Weixing from Laixi and kicked his lower legs. At the end of December 2008, guards handcuffed Mr. Zhang and hung him up for two days straight. After that, he felt dizzy, and his blood pressure was extremely elevated.

4. Hard labour

Detained practitioners and other prisoners at the forced labour camp were made to work long hours. However, reports from the labour camp staff to higher authorities claimed that detainees worked six hours a day, had a half hour break in the morning and afternoon, and were allowed time to nap at noon. In fact, the detainees were made to work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., although, in the winter, sometimes the work would stop around 4 p.m. Prisoners were given a five-minute break for smoking in the morning and afternoon. Non-smokers were given a few minutes to use the toilet. The lunch break was 20 minutes. Starting in March 2009, detainees were required to work till 8:30 or 9 p.m., three nights a week. Even when detainees weren't working late, the camp staff purposely delayed the delivery of dinner. The detainees were often forced to work on Sundays.

Some former practitioners took part in torturing and beating practitioners. They were: Zhao Qidong, Yao Bing, Chou Zhufeng, Sui Jianbo, Ma Mingjun, Mi Chengjie from Xintai, Sheng Bin from Jinan, Chen Qingnian, Na Jingxue from Weifang, Li Kongfa from Shouguang, Zhao Xiushun, and Zhang Jiehua.
