  • Disabled Practitioner: Cultivating Falun Gong is Just Like a Spring Coming to the Withered Tree

    Hulan Prison officers and police broke into disabled Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jin Chengshan's home on May 5th, 2010. They disregarded his disability and arrested him, intending to detain him at Hulan Prison again. Their reason was that the disabled man "disturbed society's security, and the police station did not supervise and control him." They put him into a car and drove away.
  • Oppression by Li Gongming and Guards at Shandong Province Second Forced Labour Camp

    From February 23rd to March 3rd, 2010, political instructor Li Gongming at the Shandong Provincial 2nd Forced Labour Camp demanded that practitioner Mr. Wang Yuping renounce Falun Gong. He handcuffed Mr. Wang for nine consecutive days from 7 a.m. until midnight. In addition, Mr. Wang was handcuffed to the bed at night, and forbidden to go to the toilet. On February 28th, guard Zhang Ruimin began using brainwashing tactics on Mr. Wang Shiyou; he forced him to watch slanderous TV programmes. Mr. Wang refused to watch, so Zhang dragged him out of the cell by his ear, punched him in the chin and chest, shocked him, beat his face, kicked his legs and continued to kick him after he fell to the ground.
  • Ms. Wang Xuemei, 46, Dies in Custody

    Police arrested Ms. Wang Xuemei on November 6th, 2009. More than 30 practitioners have been arrested here since November 2009. Practitioners were violently beaten in a detention centre, and only given two steamed buns and two bowls of broth with a few dirty vegetable leaves in it per day. Many practitioners developed health problems. Two court trials were held on March 9th and 10th, 2010, where 18 practitioners were sentenced to prison terms varying between 1 and 7 years. Ms. Wang appeared very ill, and requested medical parole. Her family only saw her briefly in court, and were denied any visitation rights or contact with her prior to the trial. The next time Ms. Wang's family saw her was when they went to see her body in the detention centre after she died on May 21st, 2010.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Zhu Jianpeng from Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, Died after Repeated Imprisonments over 11 Years

    In July 2008, Mr. Zhu Jianpeng was arrested and taken to a detention centre because he distributed materials containing facts about Falun Gong. After being subjected to brutal beatings, Mr. Zhu showed symptoms of tuberculosis The guards transferred him to the No. 3 Forced Labour Camp in Guangzhou, where he was extensively tortured. In hospital he was injected with unknown drugs instead of getting medical treatment. Mr. Zhu died on April 9th, 2010.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Liang Ying from Chicheng County, Hebei Province, Dies as a Result of Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liang Ying passed away on May 14th, 2010, after enduring over 10 years of persecution. Ms. Liang was subsequently arrested and detained three additional times between 2006 and 2010. Her health continued to worsen due to the mental and physical torture endured throughout the persecution. The illnesses she acquired while imprisoned, including heart disease, asthma, and recurrence of kidney disease, became more severe, and she died from a heart attack on May 14th.

    "The Communist Party began persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in the middle of the night on July 20th, 1999, and has continued the persecution for the past ten years. During that time my home has been searched and property confiscated many times. I have been unjustly arrested, detained, interrogated, brainwashed, and sentenced many times. The Communist Party has persecuted me relentlessly. Even now, after being released from jail, they are still persecuting me."
  • Elderly Mr. Zhang Zhiquan Dies after Six Years of Imprisonment

    Seventy-six-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Zhiquan was arrested at his home by police in March 2001, then sentenced to prison for seven years. Mr. Zhang was detained in Hebei Province Fourth Prison. Prison guards ordered two prisoners to torture him. They did not allow him to do any thing freely, they beat and cursed at him, spat on his face, banged on his metal bed to deafen him with the noise, deprived him of sleep, physically tortured him and continually threatened him. They tried to force Mr. Zhang to give up Falun Gong, but when he refused, they viciously slapped him. He was released on medical parole in March 2007. Mr. Zhang could not recover either mentally or physically. He died on May 1st, 2010.
  • Mr. Wang Bin Dies as a Result of Persecution in Hebi City, Henan Province

    Police officers broke into Mr. Wang Bin's home at around noon on May 20th, 2010, ransacked his home and arrested him and confiscated many personal items. Mr. Wang fell from the fourth floor on May 20th while in police custody. The fall left him unconscious, with serious injuries to the head, lungs, kidney, ribs, and legs. He passed away on May 21st. The police officers also interrogated all of Mr. Wang's family members and other individuals that went to his house or the mortuary to pay their respects. This was Mr. Wang's fourth arrest since the start of the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese communist regime in 1999.
  • Ms. Shang Shiying and Other Practitioners Tortured at Fengnan Police Department and the Fengnan Detention Centre

    Ms. Shang Shiying, Ms. Shan Huanrong, and Ms. Li Chunxiang were arrested by police in January 2010. In the Fengnan District Police Department, they were interrogated, tied to iron chairs, and handcuffed. Their feet were put in heavy shackles. Zhang Baocai, chief of the Fengnan Detention Centre, and other guards brutally beat these three innocent women. Two weeks later, Ms. Shang's had scars on her wrists because the handcuffs were so heavy and tight that her skin had been torn and rubbed off. The heavy shackles around her ankles had rubbed her socks threadbare.

    After July 20th, 1999, the communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong. I saw information of my mum's arrest. I learned from the Internet that agents violently broke into my home, confiscated the Falun Gong book, Zhuan Falun. My 90-year-old grandma was so scared, she got sick. They wanted to "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] my mum, and would not let her come home. Only my sister was home. They tried to force her to tell them where I was, but my sister does not know my whereabouts. I know that they are looking for me everywhere.
  • Ms. Liu Renling Persecuted in Shandong Women's Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Liu Renling was sentenced to nine years in Shandong Women's Prison on April 23rd, 2007. She has been beaten and tortured while imprisoned. As a result of the ill treatment in prison, her physical condition deteriorated, her blood pressure severely increased, and she lost several front teeth. Her family's request for her release due to poor physical health has been denied.
  • Zhang Xingcai from Yanbian, Jilin Province Arrested and Detained

    61-year-old Mr. Zhang Xingcai was arrested by officers from the National Security Team on January 16th, 2010, while visiting the home of Falun Gong practitioner Yin Fengqin, who later died under highly suspicious circumstances during an attempted arrest. Zhang was sent to a brainwashing centre the same day, and later sentenced to forced labour at the Jiutai Forced Labour Camp. When the labour camp refused him for not passing the physical exam, he was sent to the Changchun Public Security Hospital in Jilin Province, where he has gone on a hunger strike and is being severely persecuted. Mr. Zhang has been arrested several times since the start of the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party on July 20th, 1999.
  • Two Peasant Women Are Still Being Persecuted in the Brainwashing Centre in Zhengding County, Hebei Province

    On the morning of April 16th, 2010, directed by Zhengding 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), Hebei Province, officials from the Xin'an County government, police station, and Qiji village broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Tong Jianying and Ms. Cao Guihua and arrested them. The practitioners were taken to Hebei Province Brainwashing Centre and detained for over a month. Right now is the season for growing peanuts and corn. Ms. Tong Jianying and Ms. Cao Guihua are farmers from Qiji Village. Their family needs them to work the farm.
  • Ms. Song Fenzhen Sent to Forced Labour Camp Ten Days after Being Arrested

    On May 3rd, 2010, Ms. Song Fenzhen, from Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, was arrested while shopping. Afterwards, her family received a notification saying she would be detained for fifteen days and released on May 18th. On May 15th, Ms. Song's family received a shocking message saying she had been sent to a forced labour camp for a one-year term. However, her family had no knowledge regarding when she was sent away or why she was sent to a forced labour camp. Ms. Song Fenzhen had previously gone to Tiananmen Square to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. Her son was young at the time and her husband divorced her because he could not bear such huge persecutory pressure from the authorities.
  • More Information on Mr. Wang Dianren, Who Died from Torture in Siping Prison, Jilin Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Dianren, fifty years old at the time of his death, was a bricklayer at the Tonghua City Construction Company. Mr. Wang was arrested by Tonghua City police officers and brutally tortured with beatings and electric shocks. He was also exposed to freezing temperatures which left him with frostbite, and scalding temperatures which burned his body. He was sentenced to three and a half years at Siping Prison (in Siping City) in 2005 and died from torture after only six days. At least four practitioners have been persecuted to death and dozens of practitioners have been subjected to various kinds of torture in Siping Prison over the past few years.
