Mr. Xie Yiqiang Imprisoned for Seven Years, Elderly Mother Denied Right to See Him before She Passed Away
2014-04-01
After completing a four-year prison term for upholding his belief in Falun Gong, Mr. Xie Yiqiang was finally released. He went home at the end of 2012, with a badly tortured body and memories of endless beatings and constant verbal abuse by the prison guards. The Chinese Communist Party has been persecuting Falun Gong for 15 years. Mr. Xie has been imprisoned for 7 of those years. He was brutally tortured, including being subjected to the "tiger bench", sleep deprivation, prolonged sitting on small stools, and beatings. Mr. Xie's mother was also a Falun gong practitioner. After her son was arrested, she could not sleep. Overwhelmed by worry and grief, she passed away on June 29th, 2009. -
Locals in Heilongjiang Province Remember a Deceased Falun Gong Practitioner on the Anniversary of His Arrest
2014-04-01On March 28th, 2002, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Yanchao was taken away by police from Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province, and never returned. He was brutally beaten to death in police custody within just a few days. Police forced his uncle to sign off on his cremation. Every year on March 28th, the locals commemorate Mr. Zhang. It's still difficult for them to accept the fact that he was killed just because he wanted to be a good man and follow the principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance. -
Practitioner Believed to Have Been Given Poisonous Drugs Dies Shortly After Release from Prison
2014-04-01Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Zhengrong passed away on December 11th, 2013, just a few months after she was released from Guangdong Women's Prison. Her death is believed to have been caused by injections of poisonous drugs. Ms. Chen, in her 60s, was arrested in May 2010. She had been incarcerated in Guangdong Women's Prison for more than three years. She had needle marks on her arm and her family believes that she was injected with poisonous drugs prior to her release. -
The Top Three Brainwashing Centres Involved in the Torture Deaths of Falun Gong Practitioners
2014-03-25In the summary report, “ The Role of China's Brainwashing Centres in the Torture Deaths of Falun Gong Practitioners ,” we analyzed 3653 confirmed death cases of Falun Gong practitioners over the past 15 years of persecution. We found that 746 (11%) experienced torture in brainwashing centres, and 367 deaths took place in the brainwashing centres. -
Ms. Huo Meilian Died Two Days after Her Home Was Ransacked
2014-03-24Ms. Huo Meilian passed away two days after the police invaded and ransacked her home. Ms. Huo was recovering from a serious illness at home when police officers entered. Ms. Huo’s husband, Mr. Chen Mingan, demanded that the intruding officers be held accountable and punished. Pan Li of the Domestic Security Division refused to shoulder any responsibility and threatened the family. Ms. Huo, 53, was healthy until she was diagnosed with an incurable anaemia. She was arrested and detained in a labour camp for a year in the past. -
Ms. Liu Guihong Dies as a Result of Delayed Breast Cancer Treatment and Abuses During Detention
2014-03-24Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Guihong died in February 2014, as a result of delay in breast cancer treatment and abuses during her detention in June 2013. Despite her repeated pleas to see a doctor, guards at the Wugongli Detention Centre denied her requests and yelled at her, “Does it hurt? Deal with it!” They demanded to see documentation of the diagnosis but refused to allow her to call her family to get a copy. -
Mr. Jin Lin Upholds His Belief in Falun Gong Throughout an Agonizing 10-Year Imprisonment
2014-03-18Throughout the 10 years of Mr. Jin Jilin's prison sentence, he was subjected to excruciating tortures and intense brainwashing in various detention facilities. Despite all this, Mr. Jin remained firm in his faith and refused to renounce Falun Gong. Mr. Jin, 48, was arrested after he was reported for informing people about the persecution Falun Gong. He was subsequently taken to court on trumped up charges and heavily sentenced. While in detention, his wife died and the prison officials did not inform him of her death, nor were his son or others allowed to visit him. -
Father and Son Persecuted to Death Years Ago
2014-03-16Falun Gong practitioner Tan Yanjun passed away on February 27th, 2005, nine years ago, after being tortured by the police. Mr. Tan’s family requested and paid for him to undergo a physical examination in 2004. It was confirmed that Mr. Tan had perforated eardrums, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis in the hip, tuberculosis, sinus tachycardia, and rheumatism and was paralysed from the waist down. The doctor said that he should be hospitalized immediately, but the police refused to do anything for Mr. Tan. He left behind two young children. His father, Tan Guoyi, also died as a result of the persecution seven months earlier. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Huang Weidong Tortured to Death Nine Years Ago
2014-03-16Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Weidong was tortured to death in a forced labour camp in 2005. This information has been recently verified. Police arrested Mr. Huang at the end of 2004 because he displayed banners that read, “Falun Gong is good.” He was taken to the Linchuan Hospital and injected with unknown substances, making him dull and disoriented. Mr. Huang was arrested again in early 2005 and taken to the Jiangxi Provincial No. 2 Forced Labour Camp where he died as a result of torture and abuse. -
Ms. Yang Shifen Dies as a Result of Persecution
2014-03-16Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Shifen died on March 9th, 2014, the day after being released from hospital, in custody. Ms. Yang was arrested by police on February 23rd for telling people the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution. She was admitted to Jiulongshan Detention Centre. When she fell ill in the detention centre, she was taken to the hospital, still in custody. She was released two days later. -
Additional Information Regarding Mr. Jin Lixin's Death in Zhejiang No. 2 Prison
2014-03-12Mr. Jin Lixin from Hangzhou City in Zhejiang Province was tortured to death in 2007 while held in Zhejiang No. 2 Prison. Three criminal inmates monitored him 24/7. They tried to force him to give up his belief in Falun Gong by making stand or sit for long periods of time, depriving him of sleep, etc. Inmate Yao Qi pushed him every 30 minutes to keep him awake. The prison informed Mr. Jin's family that he had committed suicide, but the family doesn't believe that he took his own life. They were only allowed to see his corpse wrapped in white cloth. -
Belated News: Young Attorney Li Jian Dies from Tortures in Henan Province Third Forced Labour Camp
2014-03-10The violence surrounding the death of a young attorney in China in 2002 provides insight into the scale of the persecution of Falun Gong at that time. Mr. Li Jian, an attorney from Zhengyang County, Henan Province, endured intensive physical labour and atrocities that precipitated his death at the Henan Province Third Forced Labour Camp in Xuchang City. At the age of 34, he died on April 26th, 2002. -
13 Years of Suffering: Mr. Qu Hui's Life and Death After Torture
2014-03-04Mr. Qu Hui, who was tortured to the point of being paralyzed 13 years ago at the Dalian City Forced Labour Camp, passed away quietly on February 19th, 2014, at the age of 45. He was finally relieved of the tremendous pain he endured during the last decade of his life. At the labour camp, Mr. Qu's genitals were shocked with electric batons, causing festering wounds. His cervical vertebrae had been fractured, and he was paralyzed as a result of the torture. -
Well-respected Doctor Gao Jie Dies of Complications of Stress-induced Stroke
2014-03-04After suffering complications from a stroke and being bedridden for over two years, Dr. Gao Jie, a Falun Gong practitioner passed away on January 15th, 2014, at the age of 45. Following her arrest for practising Falun Gong in 2007, Dr. Gao developed high blood pressure, blurred speech, and other stroke symptoms. After her release, she had to move from one place to another to keep from being re-arrested. Living in constant fear, she had a relapse of stroke in May 2010 and was arrested by police soon after. -
Ms. Pan Guiying Died in October 2013 as a Result of Physical and Mental Abuse in Prison
2014-03-04Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Pan Guiying died as a result of mental and physical abuse in the Heilongjiang Women's Prison in October 2013, just one year after she was released from prison. She was arrested in July 2008 and sentenced to four years in prison. In attempting to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] her, prison guards brutally tortured her. For example, she was forced to sit still on a small wooden bench. She was also forced to stand straight from 5:30 a.m. to several hours past midnight.
