Ms. Xu Chunxia Dies, Family Threatened to Keep Silent

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Chunxia, 58, passed away on December 2nd, 2014, after a one-year detention. She had been arrested for distributing calendars containing information about Falun Gong. Prison authorities demanded that her family not publish the news of her death. They also threatened them in attempt to get the name of the person who wrote the article about her situation, which was published on the Minghui website. They claimed that they would detain family members if they didn't cooperate. -
Ms. Liu Luxiang Dies in Prison with No Credible Explanation
2014-12-20Ms. Liu Luxiang, 49, from Anshan passed away on September 3rd, 2014, while serving a three-year prison sentence in Liaoning Women's Prison. She was sentenced for telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong. When her family were notified of her death they rushed to the prison. Ms. Liu was skin and bones, with one eye slightly open. All of her exposed skin was completely white. The guards claimed that Ms. Liu had died of illness. Ms. Liu's family demanded to see a medical report, especially since she was healthy before being admitted to the prison. The guards couldn't back up their claim. -
Liaoning Women's Prison: A Place for Torture, Death of Many Falun Gong Practitioners
2014-12-08In addition to the torture and brainwashing, Falun Gong practitioners have also become the Liaoning Women's Prison's forced labourers—making clothes, textiles, and handcrafts for both domestic consumption and export. Each person has to work long hours—sometimes more than 14 hours a day, including weekends. If one refuses to do this kind of labour or is unable to fill their quota, the guards will shock them with electric batons, expose them to freezing temperatures, or subject them to other forms of torture. -
Man Dies 16 Months after Arrest for Wearing a Falun Gong Badge
2014-12-08Mr. Li Piyun from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province passed away on October 31st, 2014, at the age of 65, just 16 months after being arrested for expressing his belief in the peaceful meditation practice of Falun Gong. He was severely abused at the notorious Masanjia Prison until he became critically ill and had to be hospitalized. -
Wuhan City Brainwashing Centre: Our Job Is to Make You Lose Your Mind
2014-12-02Twenty-four year old Falun Gong practitioner Wang Yujie was injected in her right arm by agents at the brainwashing centre. Upon returning home, she started foaming at the mouth and vomiting. She could not keep any food or water down. Her whole body hurt so much that she could not stop crying. She became blind and gradually deaf, as well. Her hands became curled up and after four months of agony, she passed away in September 2011. -
Practitioner Diagnosed with Cancer Recurrence Dies Within a Short Time
2014-11-22Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ren Shuwen was told that her lung cancer had recurred shortly after local police pricked her finger and used the bloody fingers for fingerprinting in August. She passed away at 5 a.m. on October 1st, 2014, at the age of 67. Ms. Ren was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 1996 and went into remission after practising Falun Gong. She became a target of the local authorities from the onset of the persecution of Falun Gong for not renouncing the practice. Her cancer recurred twice. -
Mr. Zheng Guolin, 74, Passes Away after Being Imprisoned for 3 1/2 Years
2014-11-17After three and a half years of incarceration, 74-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zheng Guolin was released on January 6th, 2014. He was extremely weak and thin as a result of being tortured in prison. His health deteriorated sharply at the end of October. His family took him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with heart and lung failure. He passed away on November 2nd, 2014. -
Harassed after Four Years in Prison, Mr. Li Hailong Dies at Home
2014-11-17Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Hailong, 42, passed away in September 2014. He had been imprisoned for four years, and was arrested again on October 18th, 2013. The police took him to the local police station and threatened him. Mr. Li was released after the police extorted 2,000 yuan from him. His health deteriorated and he became emaciated. -
Ms. Cui Zhanyun, 69, Dies Less Than Two Months after Release
2014-11-14Ms. Cui Zhanyun died on November 3rd, 2014, less than two months after being released from a brainwashing centre. She was 69 years old. When she got home, she couldn't eat due to the severe pain in her arms, neck, and back. She told her family that her injuries were the result of being tortured and force-fed unknown drugs. Ms. Cui had been arrested 14 times and put in forced labour camps twice since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. -
Family of Six Imprisoned for a Total of 41 Years – Father Tortured to Death, Daughter Recently Tried
2014-11-14Simply for upholding their belief in Falun Gong, a family of six in Tongliao, Inner Mongolia has been repeatedly arrested since the Chinese Communist Party launched a nationwide campaign against the peaceful self-cultivation practice in 1999. The six family members have spent a total of 41 years in detention at the time of this writing. The father was tortured to death back in December 2009. Most recently, the middle daughter was put on trial for possessing Falun Gong books. -
Primary School Teacher Dies from Breast Cancer That First Appeared in Prison
2014-11-10Ms. Wang Min, 60, a teacher from Shenyang, died from breast cancer on November 1st, 2014. The cancer first appeared while she imprisoned for five years, from 2001 to 2006. After years of torture in prison, Ms. Wang developed a mammary gland tumour in 2004, the initial stage of breast cancer. When she was released in 2006, the tumour had grown and was festering. -
Mother Dies Shortly After Police Harassment While Daughter was Detained
2014-11-10Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ning Qin's ill mother passed away on October 24th, 2014, after police harassment, and being forced to make a false statement against her daughter. Ms. Ning was not allowed to attend her mother's funeral. The family holds Fu Shuhua and Zeng Shuchuan responsible for Ms. Zhou's death. -
Doctor Dies after Protest Hunger Strike, Authorities' Refusal of Medical Parole
2014-11-06Falun Gong practitioner Dr. Kong Qiuge, 67, from Urumqi passed away on October 22nd, 2014, at Urumqi Prison Hospital in Xinjiang. Dr. Kong was arrested by two dozen police officers on June 21st, because she was a Falun Gong practitioner. Immediately after she was arrested, Dr. Kong went on a hunger strike to protest the arrest. Police threatened her, saying that they would not release her even if she died. Her condition deteriorated rapidly until her death in Urumqi Prison Hospital. -
Mr. Li Guangfan, 59, Dies as a Result of Long Term Persecution
2014-11-05Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Guangfan passed away on September 18th, 2014, after long term persecution. He was 59 years old. His wife, Ms. Wu Fengyan, passed away at the age of 51 in 2010. She had also been repeatedly persecuted for her belief in Falun Gong. Mr. Li agonised over his wife's death, and the frequent harassment by the police increased his mental stress. He became paralysed and bedridden in the beginning of September, but the police continued to harass him at home. -
Guizhou Woman Dies after 10 Years of Suffering, Family Suspects Forced Drug Administration in Labour Camp
2014-11-01Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Jun, 42, died on September 18th, 2014, after 10 years of suffering from mental and physical disabilities. Family and friends suspected that she was fed or injected with drugs while being held at the Guizhou Province Women's Forced Labour Camp. Her lips, ears, and fingers turned black upon her death. Ms. Zhang was arrested in 2000, for sending appeal letters to the local government calling for justice for Falun Gong.
