  • Twenty Thousand Yuan for a Life

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Luxiang, 49, from Anshan passed away in Liaoning Women's Prison on September 3rd, 2014. The prison officials offered to pay her family 50,000 yuan in compensation, if they signed the cremation papers. After the cremation, the family was paid 20,000 yuan. Ms. Liu's son tried to argue for his rights, but was told by the guards that he would be arrested if he continued making trouble.
  • Woman Dies One Month After 5.5-Year Imprisonment for Practising Falun Gong

    Ms. Dong Shaotai was released in April after spending five and a half years in prison for talking to the public about Falun Gong. Her family could not enjoy her newfound freedom, however. Ms. Dong died one month later on May 19th, as a result of the multiple organ failure she developed due to abuse she suffered at the hands of prison guards during her imprisonment. She was 74.
  • Husband Persecuted to Death, Ms. Li Mingyue Arrested Again

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Yinsuo passed away in August 2010, after enduring constant police threats and harassment. Mr. Zhang was arrested in 2001 by police. In the She County Detention Centre, the guards slapped his face, would not let him use the toilet, and put shackles normally worn by death row inmates on him for a week. They chained the handcuffs and leg irons together, keeping him bent over.
  • Shaanxi Province Hospital Offers Patient Choice of Three Liver Transplant “Donors”

    A doctor at Xi'an Xijing Hospital in Shaanxi Province suggested in November 2014 that a friend of mine get a liver transplant, and that there was a compatible organ available. The transplant was done the next day. It seems as if liver matches were waiting for patients, and ready whenever the patients were. I was told by Li Chaoyong at Deyang Prison, Sichuan Province, in 2005, that, “Our superiors' orders are that we carry out blood tests. We must conduct blood tests on 100% of [Falun Gong practitioners].”
  • Space Scientist Faces Trial, Wife Passed Away

    A couple in Tianjin who were accomplished space scientists have been repeatedly arrested for practising Falun Gong over the past 15 years. Detainee Mr. Xiong Huifeng was not allowed to see his wife-Ms. Liu Yuanjie one last time before her death. Years of police harassment, multiple arrests, and home searches have taken a toll on Ms. Liu. After her husband's last arrest she suffered a mental breakdown and her health began to deteriorate. She died at the age of 79 on March 3rd, 2015.
  • Belated News: Man, 55, Dies from Multiple Organ Failure Caused by Labour Camp Torture

    Mr. Chi Yaocai died as a result of multiple organ failure on February 11th, 2015. He was 55 years old. Mr. Cai was arrested on September 2nd, 2011 for exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. He was soon given two years of forced labour and sent to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp, a detention centre notorious for its maltreatment of Falun Gong practitioners.
  • Hebei Practitioner Abused in Detention Dies Shortly After Release

    Ms. Chu Lianrong suffered a mental collapse while detained for more than three months. She died on April 12th, 2015, 19 days after her release, at the age of 50. Ms. Chu was arrested on December 13th, 2014 for hanging banners with information about the persecution of Falun Gong. Police officers notified her brother to take her home on March 24th, 2015, claiming that she was on a hunger strike. Ms. Chu was emaciated, could not lift her head, and had several injuries on her face. She could not eat, drink, talk, or open her eyes.
  • Forced Administration of Drugs in Prison Hospital Suspected in Death of Elderly Practitioner

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Chuming died on March 17th, 2015, at 71 years of age. Mr. Zhou had been imprisoned for almost three years for upholding his belief in Falun Gong. His health declined precipitously after he was forced to take unidentified drugs at the prison hospital for four months in 2010. His health continued to deteriorate after his release. It is strongly suspected that the drugs were instrumental in contributing to Mr. Zhou's decline and eventual death.

    Ms. Zhu Yulan's husband and daughter were busy at home, preparing for her return, after four years of unjustified imprisonment for believing in Falun Gong. Only five days before the big day of their reunion, they received the most disheartening news, that Ms. Zhu had passed away in prison on April 5th, 2015. She was 69.

  • Thirty Death Cases of Falun Gong Practitioners Confirmed in 2015

    Fourteen Falun Gong practitioners are confirmed to have been tortured to death in the first three months of 2015. In addition, 16 death cases that occurred between 2007 and 2014 have been recently confirmed. All of the practitioners experienced severe torture before death, including being subjected to brainwashing, brutal beatings, sleep deprivation, and electric shocks.
  • Older Falun Gong Practitioner Dies 4 Months after Release from Prison

    Mr. Yun Zhengqun died on February 13th, four months after his release from years of imprisonment for his belief in Falun Gong, a spiritual practice being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party. The 64-year-old man was arrested on April 12th, 2007 after a group of police officers broke into his house in the middle of the night. He was later sentenced to seven and a half years. Mr. Yun was brutally tortured while serving his time at Dongling Prison in the city of Shenyang.

    “The guards forced me to sit on the floor and pushed my head down,” recalled Mr. Zheng Shoujun. “They next tied my neck to my calves in an angle such that my face and stomach both touched the floor. I was about 200 pounds at the time, and my big belly felt like bursting in this posture.” I was in so much pain that I sweated profusely. For three months, I couldn't walk normally, since my feet and legs were dislocated.” The above is what Mr. Zheng went through at Zhangshi Labour Camp in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. He died as a result of torture a few years later in prison.
  • 69-Year-Old Woman Dies 6 Months After Release on Medical Parole

    “I don't want to die. I still want to live.” This is what Ms. Zhao Yaling said to her family during her final days. She died on January 12th, 2015, six months after her release on medical parole. She was 69. Ms. Zhao and ten other Falun Gong practitioners were arrested over a five-day period last March. Their case was considered a major one by the Ministry of Public Security. The arrest was preceded by months of police monitoring and planning.
  • Husband Cremated Alive, Wife Wanted by Police for Practising Falun Gong

    Ms. Luo Zehui and her husband Mr. Jiang Xiqing were arrested together in 2008 for telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was sentenced to eight years and her husband given one year of forced labour. Mr. Jiang was cremated alive in January 2009 after being in critical condition due to brutal torture. His attorneys were beaten by the police for seeking justice for him, and his son was forced to provide false evidence in favour of the labour camp guards.
