Mr. Yang Guiquan Dies in Custody in Liaoning Province
2009-07-28
Mr. Yang Guiquan, 45, was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in a shopping mall when he was reportedly arrested by police on June 20th, 2009. The police locked him up in the Xindi Detention Centre. His family went to request his release but the police refused their request. Mr. Yang began a hunger strike when he entered the detention centre, and was brutally force-fed by the guards. On July 5th, Mr. Yang appeared to be very ill, and was taken for emergency treatment to the Fuxin City Mining General Hospital, where he died at 3:00 p.m. on the same day. His family was notified that his "death was due to a heart attack". -
Commemorating Mr. Lu Zhen, a Falun Gong Practitioner Greatly Admired by Everyone Who Met Him
2009-07-27I was shocked to hear that fellow practitioner Mr. Lu Zhen had been tortured to death, I was speechless and choked up. How can this be possible? Mr. Lu Zhen, that young, healthy, talented man who nobly spoke out for justice for Falun Gong--how could he have "become mentally disordered and died?" Unless he had been overworked in a forced labour camp and tortured physically and mentally, what else could be the reason? In present day China, those that have participated in persecuting practitioners must know how ridiculous, unreasonable, and miserable this persecution is. What a bitter tragedy! -
Sixty-Year-Old Ms. Teng Wenzhi from Dalian City Persecuted by the Chinese Communist Regime
2009-07-27Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Teng Wenzhi, 60, was arrested by the Chinese Communist regime's police, and she was sentenced to three years in prison. During the time Ms. Teng was held in prison, police, along with 610 Office personnel, tried to locate and arrest her husband as well. During the long-term persecution by the Chinese Communist regime, Ms. Teng's husband's health deteriorated, and he passed away on December 24th, 2007. The couple did not get to see each other before he died. -
A Good Person Is Persecuted to Death; a Great Spirit Remains in the World Forever
2009-07-26 In July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to brutally persecute Falun Gong. Ms. Guo Henghong went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong a few times and was arrested, detained, brainwashed, tortured, and beaten by the police. Guo Henghong went on hunger strike many times in the detention centre to protest the persecution and demand the restoration of Falun Gong practitioners' good reputation. Her longest hunger strike lasted for nine days without eating and drinking anything, but the police from the 610 Office, the national security team, and the detention centre not only did not release her, but tied her to the long bench, fixed her hands and feet, and force-fed her food through a thick, long rubber tube. The brutal persecution caused her death in July 2002 at the age of 36. -
Seventy Year-old Ms. Li Mengshu Dies as a Result of Imprisonment in Sichuan Province
2009-07-26Ms. Li Mengshu, 70, went to a small town to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, and was reported and arrested by police. She was detained in the Jianyang City Detention Centre. Her family went to request her release, but Domestic Security refused them. Ms. Li's husband could not take the stress. He got sick and died on April 22nd, 2007. On June 8th, 2007, Ms. Li was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and sent secretly to the Chengdu City Women Prison. The guards did not allow her to practise Falun Gong and brutally tortured her until her life was in danger several times. The prison had to take her home in January 2009. She died on April 21st. -
Torture at Mudanjiang Prison Has Caused Over Ten Deaths and Numerous Disabilities
2009-07-23Mudanjiang Prison in Heilongjiang Province has 22 wards, and imprisons over 100 practitioners. Aside from forcing the practitioners to work overtime at hard labour, the prison openly tortures practitioners in order to improve the "transformation" rate. They subject practitioners to a variety of torture methods, including electrical baton shocks, beatings, force-feeding, hanging, tying, freezing, stabbing with awls, solitary confinement, and coercing other inmates to beat them. Many practitioners have been disabled or killed by the torture. The number known to have been killed is over ten. -
Partial Account of the Persecution of Mr. Lu Zhen Before His Death
2009-07-23Practitioner Mr. Lu Zhen died due to persecution in the First Prison of Shandong Province on June 22nd, 2009. His family was told that he died from a heart attack. His body is stored at the Shandong University Medical School Hospital. It was reported that his neck and hips were covered with bruises. Mr. Lu had excellent health, and no one in his family had any history of heart disease. Not long ago, the 610 Office in Linyi, Mengyin spread the rumour that he was insane. His family was not notified of anything until the day they were told that he had died. Mr. Lu had been seriously persecuted in Shandong Prison. The possibility that he might have died as a result of electric baton shocks or psychiatric drug injections cannot be ruled out. -
Crimes Committed by the 610 Office of Guan County, Shandong Province in June 2009
2009-07-22On June 12th, Li Ruyao, who was in her ninth month of pregnancy, was descended upon by more than twenty people from Guancheng Township government. They forcibly dragged her to the Maternal and Paediatric Health Centre for a forced abortion. Six men held her down on a bed and injected the medicine for induction. Li Ruyao attempted with all her might to break loose but to no avail. One hour later, both mother and the unborn infant were killed. More than a dozen of reporters from different TV stations and newspapers went to report on the tragic scene. Police officers were ordered to arrest anyone who dared any attempt to speak to reporters. -
Former Elementary School Principal Dies after Severe Persecution
2009-07-19Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Tan Deyi lived in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. At a forced labour camp, Mr. Tan was forced to make toothpicks. If he could not complete the daily work quota, he was not allowed to eat or sleep and had to work overtime. Mr. Tan resisted, so the guards tortured him by piercing his fingertips with sharp bamboo sticks, hanging him up, and other methods. As a result of gross abuse he suffered from recurring abdominal pain and was unable to do heavy work. Mr. Tan He died at home on June 25th, 2009, at the age of 59. -
Mourning the Loss of Practitioner Zhang Dezhen

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Dezhen, 38 years old, was persecuted to death a few years ago by the Mengyin County 610 Office in Shandong Province. On January 31st, 2003, doctors injected toxic drugs into Zhang Dezhen, which soon caused her death. Zhang Dezhen's family and friends strongly requested the Mengyin County Judicial Department to punish the murderers according to the law. But several years have passed, and they still haven't had any response. -
Two Sisters Imprisoned; Their Elderly Father Dies of a Broken Heart
2009-07-17Ms. Chen Yuxiang and Ms. Chen Yufen, sisters and Falun Gong practitioners from Laixi City, Qingdao, Shandong Province, were arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel and sentenced to five and three years of imprisonment, respectively. Their father was over 80 years old and in poor health. When he heard that his beloved daughters were jailed by the CCP simply because they believed in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and tried to be good, he could not bear the mental pressure and the heavy blow. His condition deteriorated and he passed away in the evening on May 19th, 2009. -
Two Women in Their Sixties Die as a Result of Ongoing Persecution
2009-07-15Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zheng Aihua, in her sixties, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong around July 20th, 1999 and was arrested and detained and several times later as well. In 2000, Ms. Zhen was detained for 105 days in the brainwashing centre. Yang Yulin ordered her family to beat her, causing her to pass out. She was released after her family had 1,600 yuan extorted from them. In 2001 police slapped her, punched her, and extorted money from her family. Her family could not bear the frequent arrests and harassment, and applied a great deal of pressure to Ms. Zheng to try to force her to give up Falun Gong. With constant pressure from her family and the ongoing persecution, Ms. Zheng's old disease recurred, and she died around 2006. -
Older Practitioner Ms. Lin Lisha Dies as a Result of Abuse in Custody in Sichuan Province
2009-07-14Ms. Lin Lisha, 51, lived in Leshan City, Sichuan Province. On January 22nd, 2001, the police persecuted Ms. Lin and 50 other fellow practitioners by tying them up, hanging a board on their necks, sentencing each of them from one to three years of forced labour, and broadcasting this whole process on TV for several days. Ms. Lin was arrested and imprisoned on two other occasions. In 2005 police had her sentenced to five years in prison. By the end of June 2009, Ms. Lin had been abused so much that she was thin to the point of deformity. The Prison Administration returned her to her family to avoid taking responsibility for her condition, but she died only a few days after being released. -
Ms. Sun Min Died in Police Custody, Police Fabricate Post mortem Examination Cover up
2009-07-12On April 22nd, 2009, Mr. Wu Yang and his wife, Ms. Sun Min were distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Beijing. The couple was taken to the Niujie District Police Station. On April 28th, the Fengtai Police Department sent Ms. Sun Min's family a "Death Notice" which stated that on April 23rd, Sun Min was found dead as a result of falling from a height. However when the family saw her body she had a wound on her forehead that looked like it was caused by teeth of an electric torture device affixed to the head. She also had other evidence of torture marks on her body. The so-called Post mortem Examination Report appears to be falsified. -
Mr. Lu Zhen Dies in Custody in Shandong Province Prison
2009-07-10Mr. Lu Zhen, 33, was arrested in early March 2004 and was subjected to numerous tortures in brainwashing sessions. The forced labour camp rejected him because he did not pass the health check-up. In December 2004, he was sentenced to eleven years in prison and sent to the Shandong Province Prison. Recently, the Linyi and Mengyin 610 Office spread rumours that Mr. Lu Zhen had mental problems, but they never officially notified his family. He had been brutally abused in prison because he firmly persisted in practising Falun Gong. On June 22nd, 2009, his family was notified that Mr. Lu suddenly died in the early morning of June 22nd, from heart disease. There are several obvious bruises on his neck and hip areas.
