Commemorating Mr. Lu Zhen, a Falun Gong Practitioner Greatly Admired by Everyone Who Met Him

I was shocked to hear that fellow practitioner Mr. Lu Zhen had been tortured to death, I was speechless and choked up. I could hardly contain myself when I stared at this news on the Minghui website (the Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net). How can this be possible? Mr. Lu Zhen, that young, healthy, talented man who nobly spoke out for justice for Falun Gong--how could he have "become mentally disordered and died?" Unless he had been overworked in a forced labour camp and tortured physically and mentally, what else could be the reason?

One winter morning when I had travelled some distance to the distribution place to get leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, I saw Mr. Lu Zhen sitting on the ground, reading the Falun Gong book, Zhuan Falun very carefully. Numerous arrests of practitioners were taking place around us, and material centres were being destroyed one after another, so I was feeling scared. I asked Mr. Lu whether he felt the hardships, and he smiled and said "Whoever we chat with are talented scholars and whoever we have contact with are never unrefined persons."

I still recall the spring of 2001, when I met Mr. Lu Zhen. At that time, I had quit practising because of the persecution. I had sunk into the worries of this human world. Another practitioner took me to meet him, and Mr. Lu Zhen very politely stood up to greet me. Because it was very hot, he had rolled-up his sleeves. I saw on his arm a very deep scar. When we all sat down, I noticed a very deep scar on the top of his head, and no hair grew around it. I could not help shedding tears over the fact that he was still so very young. He said in return, after trying to hold back his own tears, "Don't be like this."

From our conversation, I learned that he had just been released from a forced labour camp. He had learned Falun Gong when he was studying at Chongqing University. He fully appreciated how precious Falun Gong is. In facing the overwhelming defamation of Falun Gong, he was detained for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He was again jailed and sent to a forced labour camp since he refused to give up his belief. He was severely tortured at the forced labour camp when he worked hard with fellow practitioners to create an environment for practising Falun Gong. His scars were obtained at that time. After he came home from the labour camp, he still had no peace in his life. Every day, the loudspeaker called out his name in his local village, telling the local residents not to have any contact with him. His family suffered from great pressure. As a result, Mr. Lu had to leave his home.

Mr. Lu Zhen was strict with himself. He would not buy any new clothing for himself unless fellow practitioners objected to how poorly he was dressed. I still recall one very hot summer afternoon. He came to give me some materials. I saw he wore a big straw hat and a pair of very long, thick trousers. Since it was so hot, he had his trouser legs rolled up very high. His bare feet were in very old slippers, and he was sun-tanned all over. My colleague could not understand why I had contact with a person who dressed so miserably and shabbily. I told my colleague, "You should not judge a person by his appearance. You will understand after you talk to him." After he talked briefly to Mr. Lu, my colleague was very surprised and said, "He is so profound."

Not only this friend of mine, but among all who had contact with Mr. Lu Zhen, very few of them failed to admire him when he shared his understanding of Falun Gong. I also very much admired such a practitioner who fearlessly braved the evil persecution, rain or shine. It is difficult for me to accept that now, in this human world, we can no longer see him, a person so impressive when he carried large cloth bags filled with leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong materials to help people understand the truth of how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) deceived the Chinese people.

I also heard that, in the past when Mr. Lu Zhen returned home to his village, the older people on the street would run over as if they had seen a relative, and they would always hold his hands. Under any circumstance, those who follow the teachings are the most beneficial, most approachable, most admirable, and most trustworthy. It is difficult to imagine that such a precious life was described by the Lingyi and Mengyin "610 Offices1" as "mentally disordered." They had squandered great financial and physical resources to arrest and sentence him wrongfully to eleven years. Eventually, he became mentally disordered and died as result of torture. In present day China, those that have participated in persecuting practitioners must know how ridiculous, unreasonable, and miserable this persecution is. How could such a young and precious life be tortured to mental disorder and death? What a bitter tragedy!

Mr. Lu Zhen died young but his life was filled with meaning. Now that Falun Gong has spread to over one hundred countries around the world, and the truth about the persecution is clear to most of the human world, the demand for an end the persecution runs high. Those kind Chinese that have remained true to their conscience are aware of the true nature of the Chinese Communist Party and stay away from or quit it and its affiliated organizations. Heavenly punishment awaits those who have participated in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. They will be held responsible for what they have done.

Note

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
