Ms. Song Guifen from Huadian City Is Arrested Again

Ms. Song Guifen started practising Falun Gong in 1996. She has been frequently arrested since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong in 1999. She went to Beijing to appeal in July 1999. She was arrested and held at the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City, for one year. In 2001, police arrested her again. Police handcuffed her to a wall, punched and kicked her, and smashed her head against the wall. She was also shocked with electric batons, and a plastic bag was put over her head to suffocate her. Ms. Song was later taken to the Huadian Detention Centre, and was then sentenced to two years in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp. Her eyesight deteriorated significantly and her vision became blurred. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Yang Guifang and Daughter from Gucheng County, Hebei Province Both Sentenced to Labour Camp
2011-01-02Falun Gong practitioner Yang Guifang and her family live in Beijing. They make their living as labourers. From January 23rd-25th, 2008, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel in Beijing suddenly arrested over 40 practitioners. Yang Guifang and her oldest daughter Liu Yan were arrested by police from Beijing's Dongcheng District Public Security Bureau. They were held for two months in Beijing and were sentenced to a labour camp. Yang was sentenced to two and a half years, and her daughter was sentenced to two years. They were then transferred to the Hohhot Women's Labour Camp in Inner Mongolia. -
Shandong Zhaoyuan 610 Office Refuses to Allow Falun Gong Practitioners to Hire Lawyers
2010-12-31Zhaoyuan City Court recently tried seven Falun Gong practitioners. The practitioners' families hired lawyers from Beijing to defend them, but Zhaoyuan police, court officials, Procuratorate agents and those from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) worked together to harass, intimidate, and prevent the lawyers from defending the practitioners. When one lawyer first arrived in Zhaoyuan, 610 Office personnel went to the practitioners’ village and told the village head that the lawyer was a reporter, "digging for village gossip." The 610 Office agents told the village official to send two men to the village entrance and beat up the lawyer when he showed up. -
Older Practitioner Mr. Meng Fei from Shandong Province Persecuted for 10 Years (Part 1)
2010-12-30Mr. Meng Fei received many awards for being an outstanding teacher during his 32-year career in education. Over the past 10 years, Mr. Meng was arrested twice and detained in a forced labour camp. Guards picked Mr. Meng up, threw him to the cement floor, kicked him between his legs, grabbed his hair and hit his head against the wall. Then they handcuffed him to an iron chair and stood on his legs so that the iron handles dug into his legs. A guard hit his head, chest, and ribs until blood came out from his nose and mouth. Mr. Meng was tortured to near death, as a result of which his physical condition has severely deteriorated and he now suffers from constant headaches, stomach aches, dry eyes, ringing in his ears, and short-term memory loss. -
Jinan Practitioner Mr. Wu Yuliang Arrested Last Year, His Whereabouts Unknown
2010-12-29Mr. Wu Yuliang is a Falun Gong practitioner in Yanshan Community in the Lixia District in Jinan City, Shandong Province. When he was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong near the Yanshan Community on July 4th, 2009, police arrested him and took him to the Liuchangshan Brainwashing Centre. Since then his whereabouts have been unknown. Many people said he was one of the few good people in the neighbourhood and it was totally wrong for an innocent man to be sent to a forced labour camp. -
Which Law Did I Break When I Told the Truth?
2010-12-29I am an elderly female Falun Gong practitioner. I would like to tell how the officers from Zhonghualu Police Station and Erzhigou Detention Centre persecuted me. On November 13th, right after I finished shopping at Hualian Supermarket two security guards in the market wanted to check my bag. They pulled me into the security office, where they found Falun Gong informational materials in my bag and called the police. Police interrogated me at the police station and asked for my name and address. I refused to answer all their questions. A policewoman, Wang Dan, did not allow me to use the toilet. I was taken the the Erzhigou Detention Centre. I exposed the fact that the police station and the detention centre arrested me in order to extort money from me. Because of this I was not not given any food. On the 10th night, my health deteriorated. I threw up blood and felt that I could not breathe. -
Several Falun Gong Practitioners in Xinjiang Repeatedly Arrested and Sentenced
2010-12-28Ms. Chen Meng and Ms. Fan Baoming were arrested by police in August 2009 for printing Falun Gong materials. Both practitioners have been persecuted in forced labour camps before. In November 2010, they were sentenced to eight years in prison without being given a trial. Another practitioner, Ms. Dong Xiuyun, was also sentenced to seven years in prison at the same time. They are imprisoned at the Second Women's Prison in Xinjiang. The Women's Prison in Xinjiang has a notoriously long history of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Zhao Shuyuan, a practitioner from Urumqi City in Xinjiang has been imprisoned there since July 2004. Though she was tortured, she refused to give up her belief and practice of Falun Gong. -
An Account of the Persecution Suffered by Ms. Tan Shaowei from Guangzhou (Part 2)
2010-12-27It was in the middle of the night in a classroom when they tried to pressure me to give up practising Falun Gong. When I refused, they forced me to do a half squat while watching a video that slandered the practice. They also beat me with a pole whenever I failed to do exactly what they ordered. In two days, my arms and legs were all swollen. They also burned a lot of mosquito repellant incense in front of me and forced me to inhale the smoke. If I refused to write the three statements to renounce practising Falun Gong, they were going to torture me more viciously. -
Lecturer from Communication University of China Tortured in Forced Labour Camp
2010-12-27On July 17th, 2008, I was transferred to the Xindian Women's Forced Labour Camp after nine months of detention at the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp. They extended my term for another three months for “hiding Falun Gong articles.” I was brutally beaten, verbally abused, and locked in solitary confinement. I was forced to sit on a small stool in front of a surveillance camera all day. I was not allowed to take a shower for six months. After four months of solitary confinement, I wrote letters to the director of the labour camp, demanding an end to the solitary confinement. My requests went unanswered. Drug addicts broke into my room while I was writing a letter and hit me in the face and head. They also kicked my legs. The beating lasted for about 50 minutes. -
Nearly 20 Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Tangshan
2010-12-27On November 24th, 12 or more Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in and around Tangshan. From November 17th to November 24th, nearly 20 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in the same area. on November 17th, Ms. Zhang Haiyan's house was ransacked by the Yutian County Domestic Security Division. They took a computer and personal items and arrested her, her husband, Mr. Huang Kejun, and their child, who is not a practitioner. They released the child, alone, in the middle of the night. Mr. Huang and Ms. Zhang were transferred to the Yutian Detention Centre on November 19th. Han Xiuying was arrested for going to Falun Gong websites and the house ransacked by the Fengrun District Police Department. While Mr. Li Shaohui from Xinqu was talking to people about Falun Gong, he was arrested by police. -
Jiangsu Province Falun Gong Practitioner Xu Ming Imprisoned for the Second Time
2010-12-26On May 26th, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Xu Ming was arrested by the Changzhou City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) while on his way to work. He was taken to prison, where he endured several brainwashing sessions conducted by the officers there. He was later sent to Xilin Detention Centre in Changzhou, where he has been held ever since. Xu Ming's captors attempted to force a confession by torturing him. His family hired a local lawyer to defend him. The 610 Office found out about this, and started harassing the lawyer. They flatly told the lawyer that he was not allowed to defend Falun Gong practitioners. -
Domestic Security Brigade Officer in Hebei Province Forges Evidence to Frame Ms. Liu Shunxian
2010-12-26On August 16th, 2010, police officers broke into Ms. Liu Shunxian's house in Wazi Village. They arrested Ms. Liu and confiscated her computer, printer, MP3 player and Falun Gong books. Ms. Liu was held at the Quyang County Detention Centre. The next day, the officers took Ms. Liu to the Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp. The labour camp refused to take her because of her physical condition. In October 2009, the Procuratorate returned the case to the police because of insufficient evidence. The head of the Lingshan Town Police Station followed orders from his superiors and had a false witness testify against Ms. Liu. Chen Jianwen, head of the Domestic Security Brigade, then forged evidence and took the case to the Procuratorate again. -
An Account of the Persecution Suffered by Ms. Tan Shaowei from Guangzhou (Part 1)
2010-12-25I was arrested and taken to the Hongshan Addiction Treatment Centre in July 2002. After arriving at the brainwashing centre, several employees threatened me, saying, “If you still keep your faith, we want you to know what you're going to suffer. We'll get a psychiatrist to certify that you're ill and you'll be taken to a mental hospital, where you'll get electric shocks. Your husband will be ordered to divorce you. We'll say that you committed suicide if we throw you out the window. We'll hang you up from the ceiling.” -
Ms. Sun Fudi Repeatedly Arrested and Tortured Since July 20th, 1999
2010-12-25Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Fudi, 57, was arrested by village Communist Party officials and police in June 2009. The officers searched her home and took away valuables. She was sentenced to two years of forced labour and taken to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City. In the labour camp, Ms. Sun refused to be “transformed” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong]. They forced her to squat down and bend over for extended hours. She was also handcuffed and hit in the face. The guards also used an MP3 player to blast slanderous propaganda into her ears with ear buds. In March 2010, Ms. Sun suffered from ascites resulting from a bladder expansion due to torture she endured in the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. She was released and returned home on April 20th, 2010. -
Additional Information on the Arrest of Ms. Geng Caixia from Luan County, Hebei Province
2010-12-25Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Geng Caixia was reported to the police when she went to the Xiaomazhuang area to tell people the facts about Falun Gong on July 7th, 2010. Police arrested her and took her to the police station for interrogation. Police demanded information about her son and her mother. Ms. Geng didn’t tell them anything. Then one officer slapped her face three times and grabbed her hair, trying to lift her. Two other officers also got involved. One used his legs to immobilise Ms. Geng’s head while the other one used rope and wrapped it around her head, binding it so tightly that she had difficulty breathing.
