  • Ukraine: Introducing Falun Dafa at the "Window of Folk-Custom" Festival in Kiev

    On June the 19th 2004, Ukrainian practitioners joined the “Window of Folk-Custom” festival celebrations in Kiev. Practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises and performed a dance. We also hung a golden banner with the words “Falun Dafa” and “Zhen (Truthfulness), Shan (Compassion), Ren (Tolerance)”.

  • Parade in Vienna Captured the Hearts of Many Onlookers

    The parade through the centre of Vienna attracted the attention of many people as it made its way through the crowded streets on the 19th of June 2004. As they absorbed the unexpected display of traditional Chinese culture, thousands of people took leaflets and materials, and many stopped practitioners to ask them more about the significance of the parade, and about Falun Gong.
  • EFGIC: Torture Lawsuit Filed Against China’s Minister of Information During U.S. Visit

    LONDON (EFGIC) – A Chinese minister was served with legal papers Friday charging him with torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment. The papers were served upon a guard outside Wang Xudong’s hotel room within hours after the Minister of the Information Industry delivered a speech at an internet technology trade summit in Chicago. “[The] defendant’s acts and omissions were deliberate, wilful, intentional, wanton, malicious and oppressive, and should be punished..."
  • UK: Introducing Falun Dafa in Leeds

    On June the 19th 2004, a group of Falun Gong practitioners held activities in Leeds city centre to introduce Falun Dafa and tell people about the campaign of genocide that is being waged against practitioners in China. Many people enquired about Falun Gong and many immediately wrote down the details of local practise sites and expressed wishes to come and learn the exercises.
  • Morning Exercise Practise before the Experience Sharing Conference in Vienna

    Before the 2004 European Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference in Vienna, in the early morning of June 20th, about 150 of the conference attendees gathered to practise the Falun Gong exercises together. The scene was reminiscent of China before the persecution when people would gather together in the mornings to practise before work.

    When Falun Gong practitioners paraded through the city-centre of Vienna on June 19th, the residents were deeply moved. The second part of this parade was a dancing performance, which was composed of the lotus dance, the flower-basket dance, the fan dance, etc. performed by female Falun Gong practitioners in colourful Chinese costumes.
  • Interview with Zhao Ming in Vienna

    Zhao Ming is a former post-graduate student of Computer Science at Trinity College, Dublin. He now resides in Ireland as a refugee. Because he practises Falun Gong he was unlawfully arrested when he went back to China for Christmas in 1999. Zhao Ming was imprisoned for twenty two months and suffered unimaginable torture daily. In March 2002 he was released from prison and he returned to Dublin. Ever since then he has been informing the international community about the unlawful persecution in China.

    As the biggest city in Scotland, Glasgow holds an annual festival and invites different ethnic groups to participate in the activities to display the cultural diversity of Glasgow. This year Falun Gong was invited to take part in the festival, being symbolic of Chinese culture, and took the opportunity to let people know that the PLA has been invited to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

    On Valsavarenche Vale, 2,000 kilometres above sea level, Falun Gong practitioners joined the "Healing of Mother Earth" event at the invitation of the "Where Eagles Fly" Association. Afterwards, Anna, the activity organiser, expressed her gratitude to practitioners: “We will never forget the picture of these lotus flowers in full bloom on this snow-crested mountain.”

    While everyone was sitting in meditation, a team of reporters from a local TV station arrived. When the reporters discovered that it was Falun Gong, one of them said, “Yes, Falun Dafa. I know about Falun Gong, and I saw in the newspaper about the persecution of Falun Gong in China. It seems to be a very peaceful and quiet practise though.”
  • Russia: Moscow Residents Learn About Falun Dafa During a Celebration Hosted by the United Nations Refugee Council

    June 20th 2004 was World Refugee Day. The office of the United Nations Refugee Council in Moscow organised an outdoor celebration activity in the city’s Youth Palace and Falun Gong took part, distributing leaflets and demonstrating the exercises. Many people readily came to learn the truth about Falun Gong. The organiser of the programme said happily to practitioners, “It is such a wonderful cultivation way; I must learn it. Could you give me more materials so that I can share them with my friends and we could learn together.”
  • Fadu in Sweden (2): Appealing for the Children of Falun Dafa Practitioners Being Persecuted in China

    With only a few simple words and sentences, as well as hand-folded lotus flowers and peaceful Falun Gong exercises, Fadu appealed to Swedish children to assist in stopping the persecution of Falun Gong in China, and to rescue the children of the Falun Gong practitioners who are subjected to tremendous suffering.
