  • As Rio Games Begin, Falun Gong in China Still Feel Impact of Beijing’s Pre-Olympics Clampdown

    Eight years after the Beijing Olympics and as the world prepares to watch the 2016 Games open today in Brazil, thousands of Falun Gong practitioners and their families in China are living with the aftermath of a Communist Party crackdown ahead of the 2008 sporting event. At least 150 people detained at the time are believed to still be imprisoned, according to a list compiled by the Falun Dafa Information Centre.

  • FDIC: Dozens of Falun Gong Practitioners Killed in First Third of 2011

    Over two dozen Falun Gong practitioners have died due to abuse in custody since January 1, 2011, according to reports received by the Falun Dafa Information Centre and published on Thursday. In a feature particular to the campaign against Falun Gong, several of the victims died after being held in makeshift "brainwashing centres" where torture and ingestion of unknown drugs were used to force people to renounce their practice of Falun Gong.
  • FDIC: Internal Communist Party Documents Disclose New Campaign to Forcibly "Transform" Millions of Falun Gong Practitioners in China

    A series of internal Communist Party documents, some of them posted online, reveal the details of a new three-year, multi-billion dollar campaign targeting Falun Gong practitioners across China. The campaign's stated goal is to "transform" 75 per cent of all known practitioners, who number in the tens of millions despite eleven years of brutal suppression. Specifically, the campaign calls upon security forces to go into "villages and households" to "educate and conquer" Falun Gong practitioners.

    "According to the presenting organisations, tickets for all seven shows were sold out within the first two weeks of sales. Though the visa requests for the travelling group were already made in October, on January 22, the Hong Kong Immigration Department has denied entry visas of seven of the company's core production team members, leaving the organizers with no choice but to cancel the shows in Hong Kong."

    "In an unprecedented decision, a Spanish judge has indicted five high-ranking Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials for their role in crimes of torture and genocide committed against Falun Gong practitioners. Among the defendants is former CCP head Jiang Zemin, widely acknowledged as the chief instigator of the campaign to “eradicate” the spiritual practice."
  • Reporters Without Borders Press Release - "European Satellite Operator Eutelsat Suppresses Independent Chinese-language TV Station NTDTV to Satisfy Beijing"

    Reporters Without Borders calls on Giuliano Berretta, the CEO of the European satellite company Eutelsat, to quickly reverse its decision to suspend independent Chinese-language broadcaster NTDTV's use of Eutelsat's W5 satellite to broadcast to Asia. Eutelsat claims it was forced to suspend NTDTV (New Tang Dynasty Television) on 16 June because of a technical problem but a recorded conversation with an employee of Eutelsat show it was a premeditated, politically-motivated decision violating the free flow of information and the convention under which Eutelsat operates."

    Agency France Presse reported on June 5th that two American congressmen accused the CCP regime of prompting the attack on the New York Falun Gong practitioners. They also appealed to the American government to raise an objection to the CCP. The report says, last month when Falun Gong practitioners were holding a CCP condemnation gathering and distributing flyers they were attacked.Agency France Presse quoted the local police’s words reported by the New York Times newspaper, saying there were six people arrested, three charged with assault offences and others accused of disturbing social order.
  • European Parliament (Press Release): Keep up human rights pressure on China in the run-up to 2008 Olympics

    With next year's Olympic Games in Beijing just around the corner, the world must keep up the pressure on China over its human rights record, a hearing of the European Parliament's Human Rights Subcommittee attended by over 200 people was told on Monday. Several NGOs, including a Chinese dissident speaking live via Internet telephone conference, described the widespread human rights violations still being perpetrated by the authorities.
  • German Press Release: Don’t Send Falun Gong Practitioner Back to Clutches of Chinese Communist Regime

    Mr. Wang arrived in Germany on 2/9/2001. Since March 2003, he has practised Falun Gong and actively exposed the persecution of Falun Gong in China. He filed a petition for asylum on 2/9/2004 but the asylum request was dismissed. Torture victim and friend of petitioner Zhen Wang said, “He can expect torture and possible loss of life if deported to China.”
  • Falun Dafa Information Centre: Olympic-Size Violations

    Beijing Olympic organizers have openly expressed a policy banning Falun Gong adherents from attending the 2008 summer Olympics, the Falun Dafa Information Centre reported Wednesday. Beijing's decision stands in stark violation to Articles 35 and 36 of China's own Constitution, which promise freedom of association and religious belief, as well as the International Olympic Committee's bylaws, which prohibit any form of discrimination - including that religious or political.

    "Wang experienced that peaceful people, who are seen by the Communist regime as a threat to their power, are dealt with worse than murderers and rapists in slave labour camps. At the slave labour camp, the guards ordered drug addicted inmates to monitor, humiliate and beat up Wang. On April 15th 2003, five inmates in his cell tortured him and broke both of his hip joints. The slave labour camp doctor gave Wang only a few pain-killers although he suffered from multiple broken bones and his body was covered with wounds from burning cigarettes."
