Older Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Guo Wenying from Lanzhou Persecuted

Since July 20th, 1999, Ms. Guo Wenying has been subjected to long term detentions and persecution for not giving up her belief. She was sentenced to six years of imprisonment in 2003, suffered all kinds of torture in the Gansu Women's Prison, and was held in solitary confinement for over four months. Ms. Guo was hung up by her handcuffs on a steel roller door, with her toe tips just barely touching the ground. The guards sent prisoners to frequently ask her whether she would still practise. When she did not answer, they tortured her with several high voltage electric batons, leaving bloody wounds everywhere on her face and head. -
Chenzhou 610 Office Arrested Ms. Chen Binge and Extorted Money from Her Daughter
2011-01-31On October 12th, 2010, police broke into Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Binge’s home, arrested her and forced to attend a brainwashing session. In the class, several CCP members dragged her by her arms, causing severe bruising. When she asked them why they were being so rough, they replied, “It’s because you should not study Falun Gong.” Ms. Chen went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. They tried everything, including threats and promises to release her, to get Ms. Chen to write a pledge to not practise Falun Gong anymore. Ms. Chen refused to sign, so they extorted 1,824 yuan from her daughter. -
Dandong City Procuratorate Persecutes the Shao Sisters
2011-01-31Zhenxing District Court in Dandong City, Liaoning Province tried practitioners Ms. Shao Changfen and Shao Changhua on December 24th. During their defence of the practitioners, two Beijing lawyers pointed out that practising Falun Gong is exercising their freedom of belief. Freedom of belief is a basic human right. The court could not dispute the lawyers' justifiable defence. The judge announced a recess until further notice. Ten days later, the court sentenced Shao Changfen and Shao Changhua to seven years and four years of prison, respectively, without holding another open hearing. -
Shiling Prison Refusing to Release Liu Dapeng
2011-01-30Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Dapeng has been held in Shiling Prison for eight full years. According to the rules on accumulating points for working at the prison, he should have been released on December 20th, 2010, but Shiling Prison has not released him. Liu Dapeng’s family is now making an all-out effort to rescue him. Before the persecution started on July 20th, 1999, Liu Dapeng was the local Falun Gong practice site coordinator. He was arrested while on his way to Beijing to appeal in December 1999. He was then sentenced to one year in prison. -
Suining Police Torture Elderly Practitioners
2011-01-30On July 5th and 16th, 2009, officers from the Wanglin Police Station arrested Mr. Shao Kailian and Mr. Zhang Buhue both of whom are in their 60s. The police ransacked their homes, and the two elderly practitioners were taken to the police station and beaten. In order to force the two practitioners to give in and renounce their faith, the police officers put sand bags on their necks. The two practitioners fainted soon after because of the burning pain from the 50 lb load. The police then put them down and poured cold water on their heads. After the elderly practitioners awoke, the police continued torturing them. During the torture, Yan Dong boasted about how brutal he had been when previously torturing female Falun Gong practitioners. -
Persecution of Ms. Li Yumei from Shuangcheng, Heilongjiang Province
2011-01-30Ms. Li Yumei was persecuted many times by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because she refused to renounce practising Falun Gong. She recounts her experience: "On January 17th, 2001, I went to appeal in Beijing and displayed a banner that read “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” at Tiananmen Square. I was arrested there and sent to Daxing County Detention Centre, where I went on a hunger strike. The authorities intravenously injected me every two days. I would not cooperate, and was kicked and beaten by criminals. I was then shackled, and dragged out and tied to a bed to be connected to the IV. My weight declined rapidly, my mouth was dry, and my gums bled. My mouth foamed when I talked, and I fainted once because my blood pressure was so low." -
Husband Dies in Anguish While 70-year-old Wife is Jailed in Penglai City
2011-01-30Elderly Ms. Men Hongfen was sentenced to a four-year prison term in January 2011. Her husband, Chi Weiguo, died on January 16th as a result of grief. Ms. Men wouldn't give up practising Falun Gong and told people the facts about it. She was arrested many times by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents, and has been arrested three times by the Daxingdian Police Department since 2005, and forcibly taken to brainwashing centres. -
Ms. Chen Shulan Jailed for Eight Years, Daughter Still Missing
2011-01-29Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen on September 16th, 2002. She was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison and detained in the Beijing Women's Prison, where she was badly mistreated. She was released on March 17th, 2010, after serving her full term. That same day, however, she was arrested again and taken to the Changping District Brainwashing Centre where she was subjected to 70 days of brainwashing before finally being released at the end of May 2010. Her 10 year-old daughter is still missing. Ms. Chen brother Chen Aizhong was tortured to death at the Hehuakeng Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City on September 20th, 2001. Ms. Chen's sister, Chen Hongping, was taken to a forced labour camp; both of her legs were broken by communist officials and she was tortured to death at the Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp on March 5th, 2003. -
First-Hand Account of Persecution as Told by a 54-Year-Old Woman from Jinzhou, Liaoning Province
2011-01-29I am a 54-year-old Falun Gong practitioner. Because of my belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I was repeatedly arrested and tortured. In 2001, I was detained again and I protested by going on a hunger strike. Seven or eight criminal detainees participated in force-feeding me under the instigation of the police. They put me down on a "tiger bench" and tied me up with metal wire, twisting the wire with a pair of pliers until it cut into my flesh, causing excruciating pain. My arms turned black and blue. Then the police inserted a tube (the width of a finger) into my throat. Blood instantly gushed from it. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Severely Abused in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp, Changchun City, Jilin Province
2011-01-29On January 4th, 2011, in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp, team chief Ding cruelly beat Ms. Zhang Li because she refused to give up or renounce Falun Gong. To make the practitioners suffer more, Ding made many regulations. For instance, practitioners must report to and ask permission from the chief guards if they want to go to the toilet. In many cases they were not given permission and had to use a bucket in their room as a toilet. Their room could be very cold in the winter because the radiator was broken, but they were forced to keep their door open during the daytime. -
Details on the Persecution of Practitioners from Qujing City, Yunnan Province
2011-01-29Practitioners Ms. Huang Xilan, Ms. Rao Xue, Mr. Liang Yun and his wife (name unknown), Su, and Wang were arrested and taken to the Domestic Security Division of Qujing Police Department on June 22nd, 2010. In October practitioners Su and Zhao Li were arrested and taken to a forced labour camp. Police ransacked Huang Xilan's home on January 30th, 2000 and she was then sentenced to 2 years of forced labour. In 2005, police put her in the Yunnan Women's Forced Labour Camp for 2 years and 9 months for practising Falun Gong. -
Ms. Yang Jinying Persecuted to Death Seven Years Ago; Her Son Recently Files an Indictment
2011-01-28Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Jinying was persecuted to death at the age of only 53 in November 2003. She was subjected to so much torture that she became paralyzed and lost control of her bodily functions. Even though her condition was critical, the police still sentenced her to three years of imprisonment. Her two sons were attending middle school at the time. Mr. Wang Lei, Ms. Yang's older son, recently filed an indictment against the Qiaocheng District Police Department for persecuting his mother to death. He requested an investigation and the prosecution of those responsible. -
Former Bully Now Bullied by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for Practising Falun Gong
2011-01-28From a very young age, Mr. Ding Xuesen was aggressive, and he smoked and drank. He was a bully in school and often involved in group fights. After practising Falun Gong, he was no longer aggressive and became a person with high morals. However, after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Ding was brutally tortured because he believed in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. -
Mr. Yang Jianpo Arrested Again; His Wife Tries to Reason With the Prison Guards
2011-01-28On December 28th, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Jianpo was arrested again. His wife wrote a letter to the prison officers in Jidong Prison in the hopes that they would be able to realize that they were taking part in the persecution of good people. Mr. Yang was arrested before—in 2006—and sentenced to six years in prison. He resisted the persecution and went on a hunger strike for two years and eight months. On September 29th, 2008, he was released and taken home by people from Jidong Prison. When he came back, he was extremely emaciated and weak, and his internal organs were barely functioning. -
Former Court Vice-President Persecuted until Emaciated
2011-01-28Mr. Wang Zhansuo was formerly vice-president of the Intermediate People's Court of Agriculture in the Seventh Division of the Xinjiang Production & Construction Army Corps. He was known to be a very competent judge. Despite this, he was arrested and sentenced to four years in prison just because he practised Falun Gong. He has been imprisoned for more than ten months. As a result of persecution, he has become emaciated and very weak. He has difficulty eating and can barely walk by himself.
