  • Mr. Jiang Shanliang and Ms. Tong Li from Shenzhen Face Trial

    Mr. Jiang Shanliang and his wife Ms. Tong Lin were recently married. Ms. Tong found a good job due to her outstanding work performance and talent. She is friendly and the company staff think highly of her. Ms. Tong and another Falun Gong practitioner were arrested on the afternoon of January 12th, 2008 by police. Police took them to the Bao'an Detention Centre. Ms. Tong was released in early 2009. Ms. Tong and her husband were again arrested at home on September 12th, 2009. The couple is currently being held at the Jiuwei Detention Centre. The authorities were scheduled to try them at the Bao'an District Court on January 18th, 2010.
  • Persecution of Ms. Shi Yan'e from Anyang City, Henan Province

    Police broke into Ms. Shi Yan'e's home on September 23rd, 2009. They arrested Ms. Shi and Ms. Wu Qingchai, who was at her home. An eyewitness said that more than a dozen police officers in several police vehicles arrived at Ms. Shi's home. They also called for a locksmith to force open the door, and took a computer and other items. An officer body-searched Ms. Wu and confiscated the key to her home, and then ransacked her home when nobody in her family was present. Ms. Shi's husband had suffered tremendous mental torment because of the persecution. He suddenly fell ill about two weeks ago and died. Ms. Shi and Ms. Wu have been held at the Anyang Detention Centre for over three months.
  • Ms. Han Shujuan Arrested at Home, Sick Father in His 70s Left Unattended

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Han Shujuan from Jianshanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province was with her sick father at home on January 10th, 2010, when more than a dozen police officers suddenly broke in and attempted to arrest her. Ms. Han resisted the arrest. An officer beat her, and Ms. Han shouted loudly, "Police beat good people." The police eventually took her away, and her paralysed father was left home with no one to look after him. Ms. Han's husband was not home. Ms. Han is now being held at the Beihao Detention Centre (also a brainwashing facility).
  • Li Yuhua from Yilan Town of Heilongjiang Tortured Brutally

    Li Yuhua has been detained four times since 1999. She was detained in the No.2 Detention Centre of Yilan Town for 267 days, where the food, such as corn buns and cabbage soup, was dirty and contained grass, soil, rat faeces, flies and other contaminants. She was also sentenced to a four-year term at the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province. Between 1999 and 2003, she was detained at a detention centre or forced labour camp. In a detention centre she was force-fed. She recounts: "Two prisoners held my hands and others pinched my nose to stop my breathing through the nose. Another pinched my face. One used a chopstick to probe my teeth and another brushed my throat with a tooth brush. Then, they poured salt water into my mouth and I was almost asphyxiated."
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Lai Jinming Arrested

    Ms. Lai Jinming enjoyed a peaceful and happy life with her husband and daughter after her retirement. Because of her belief in Falun Gong, and its central principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, her life was destroyed by the Chinese Communist Party. On December 29th, 2009, Ms. Lai was talking to people about the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong, when she was arrested by police. On January 3rd, Ms. Lai's family members again went to the Chaoyang Police Station. When they asked a policeman, Li, when they planned to release Ms. Lai, Li simply asked, "How long was her sentence last time?" "One and a half years," was the reply. Li said, "So this time it it will be two years."
  • Police in Handan City Arrest Mr. Ji Ruiling and His Sister Ms. Ji Junyun and Extort Large Sum of Money from Family

    On September 18th, police arrested Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Ji Ruiling and his sister Ms. Ji Junyun, as well as Mr. Ji's wife and son. The police took away more than 5,200 yuan in cash and a bankbook from Mr. Ji Ruiling's home. They confiscated two computers, a printer from Ms. Ji Junyun's home, as well as about 5,000 yuan in cash. On September 19th, the police sent Mr. Ji Ruiling and Ms. Ji Junyun to the Handan No. 2 Detention Centre, and they have been detained there ever since.
  • Senior Citizen Mr. Liu Tingheng Dies as a Result of Persecution in Benxi Forced Labour Camp

    After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Liu Tingheng was arrested four times. Due to long term persecution, his health suffered severely and he passed away in the spring of 2008. In 2007 he was sent to the Legal Centre of Benxi Forced Labour Camp to force him to renounce Falun Gong. The guards used all sorts of methods, both harsh and soft approaches, to undermine practitioners' resolve. During the night, guards came to harass practitioners, reading out loud articles that slandered Falun Gong. The guards also forced practitioners to watch TV and videos filled with lies about Falun Gong. They did not hesitate to use violence on anyone that did not agree with their propaganda.
  • Qufu District Court Tries Mr. Zhao Genfa

    On December 29th, 2009, the trial of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Genfa took place in the First Criminal Court of Jining City in the Zhong District Court, Shandong Province. In the preceding days, Qufu Court officials changed the trial venue several times. This was not a case of an official need for a trial in a "different location." Qufu Court officials simply arranged to "borrow" a small courtroom that could only accommodate 20 to 30 people from the First Criminal Court of the Zhong District Court. These changes and postponements by Qufu Court officials suggest that they were trying to hide something, because this was the first time a Falun Gong practitioner had ever been tried in Qufu. It wasn't clear what kind of charges were to be filed against Mr. Zhao.
  • Mr. Wang Fangpu Sentenced to Forced Labour, Elderly Father Passes Away in Grief

    On September 15th, 2009 Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Fangpu was arrested by police at his home and was later sentenced to forced labour for two and a half years and held in the Tuanhe Labour Camp. Every day he was forced to work for 9 hours with other inmates to produce firecrackers. He was one of many Falun Gong practitioners arrested by police for the October 1st National Day. Mr. Wang's 80-year-old father, stricken by his arrest, passed away in November without being able to see his youngest son again.
  • Remembering Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Wang Gang

    When Mr. Wang was tortured in Boding Prison, he shouted "Falun Gong is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good." He refused to renounce the practice. He was locked in a confinement cell. Gao Ying, the head warden, tied him to a bed, and his legs were shackled and his hands were handcuffed. He wasn't allowed to talk for 10 days and he was only given a little bit of water to drink. A guard kicked Mr. Wang's legs causing a fracture. His muscles and blood vessels became necrotic and prison guards forced him to undergo amputation. Later he died.
  • Ninety-Three Year Old Practitioner and Her Two Daughters Persecuted in Changsha City

    Ms. Xiao is 93 and in good health, since she has been practising Falun Gong. However, since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, her family has suffered unjust persecution. Her daughter, Tang Yingxia, 62, was sentenced to three years in prison because she went to watch a Falun Gong DVD at a friend's house. She is now in Hunan Provincial Women's Prison, and is barred from being visited by her family members.
  • Yinmahe Labour Camp in Jilin Province Subjects Practitioners to Brutal Torture and Hard Labour

    While Mr. Yang Xingli was in the labour camp he was assigned to the "isolation division" where Falun Gong practitioners were closely monitored and brutally tortured. In order to force him to write the "four statements" promising to give up his Falun Gong practice, the guards first made him sit on a small bench for extended periods of time. At night, detainees assigned to monitor him showered him with fists and kicks. Seeing that he was not moved, they used sewing needles to prick his whole body, leaving needle pricks everywhere. The guards also beat Mr. Yang savagely on numerous occasions, three times being the worst.
  • Female Practitioner from Beijing Taken to Hubei Province to Serve One-Year Forced Labour Term

    Practitioner Ms. Lu Fulian was arrested and sentenced to forced labour. On July 9th, 2008, she was sent to the Hubei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp, where she was tortured until she became emaciated and was on the verge of death. Inside the forced labour camp, Falun Gong practitioners are forbidden from speaking or other forms of contact with other practitioners. If practitioners don't co-operate or don't give up practising Falun Gong, the inmates lock them up in dark rooms, beat them, strip off their clothes, hang them up, squeeze and grab their private parts, curse Falun Gong, write slanderous words on their bodies, and coerce them to write guarantee statements promising to give up their practice of Falun Gong.
  • Mr. Hao Yin Sent to Shuangkou Forced Labour Camp in Tianjin

    After many difficulties and setbacks, with the help of kind-hearted people, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hao Yin's three daughters have finally found out where he is. He was sentenced to two years and three months of forced labour and sent to Shuangkou Forced Labour Camp in Tianjin. The girls have travelled to the labour camp unsuccessfully three times trying to see their father. The girls' mother, Ms. Gao Yane, had been sentenced to three years in prison for speaking with people about Falun Gong and the persecution. She has lost the sight in one eye and hearing in one ear as a result of abuse.
  • Pilot Sun Li Sentenced to Seven Years--Wife Forced to Divorce Him

    In May 2009, Mr. Sun Li was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Nanqu Court in Qingdao City. On June 25th, he was sent to the Jinan Prison. Because he did not give up Falun Gong practice, he has been persecuted numerous times during the past ten years by officials at his workplace, the State Security Bureau, the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), the police, and more. His wife, a flight attendant, could not bear the intense pressure and had to divorce him.
