  • The Chinese Communist Party’s Persecution of Practitioners Who Work in Engineering

    Since 2000, because he has refused to give up practising Falun Gong, Mr. Huang Liqiao has been detained in a forced labour camp three times for a total of seven years. In the labour camp, he was tortured with electric batons; beaten with a wooden club, had his limbs forcefully stretched on what is called a tiger bench, and was hung up by handcuffs. In addition, he was deprived of sleep for long periods of time and forced to sleep naked on a wooden bed without a blanket in the winter. The guards poured cold water on him with the windows wide open, and in the summer he was covered with a heavy insulated quilt.
  • Systematised and Institutionalised Persecution in Gansu Prison

    As soon as practitioners enter Jiuquan Prison, prison authorities arrange for four to eight personal monitors to watch each practitioner in an isolated cell. They initiate conversations with the practitioner to obtain basic personal information, including the cultivation situation, personality, education, social background, psychological weaknesses, and the attitude of other family members towards Falun Gong. This process sometimes lasts one to two months. They finalise the monitoring group members and guards and establish a dedicated file on the practitioner including: the verdict, basic personal situation, social relations, health, the information collected by the assigned monitors, the “transformation” plan, and the “reform” agreement signed by the threatened and deceived families of practitioners.
  • Ms. Liang Xiuying from Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Arrested for Writing Letters to Advise Officials to Do Good

    Police suddenly arrested 67-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liang Xiuying on November 9th. The police used the excuse that Ms. Liang had written letters to related government agencies and officials asking them not to persecute Falun Gong practitioners who believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and to stop the persecution and do good deeds. The community was surprised that Ms. Liang was arrested for kindly advising regime authorities to stop committing crimes. She was taken to a detention centre and her home was ransacked. The police charged Ms. Liang with “disrupting public order.”
  • Suizhong Economist Sent to Forced Labour Camp for the Third Time

    Ms. Li Xiaoyan was arrested by officials on October 23rd, and was recently sent to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp for the third time for practising Falun Gong. Earlier, in 1999, Ms. Li spent three years in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp because she had written appeal letters to explain the facts about Falun Gong. In the summer of 2002, she was released on bail for medical treatment because she was in very weak condition as a result of persecution. While she was in the camp, the Suizhong Agriculture Bureau fired her. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel often harassed her after she was released, and her husband divorced her because he could not endure the enormous pressure from the authorities.
  • Hebei Energy Technology Institute Teacher Sent to Forced Labour Camp Again

    Mr. Wang Xiaojun has been persecuted since 1999. In 2001, police arrested Mr. Wang, detained him in the Xishandao Police Station, and his home was ransacked. The police hit and kicked him. They slapped him in the face with shoes, and he lost hearing in one of his ears. He can no longer hear out of that ear. Later on, he was held in Hehuakeng Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan for one year. On June 10th, 2011, Mr. Wang was seized by police while he was in his office. His home was ransacked. The police took away Falun Gong books and materials. He is now held in Kaiping Forced Labour Camp.
  • Gaozhou Father and Son Sentenced and Sent to Forced Labour Camp

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Zuqiang was arrested by three police officers on October 25th, 2010. The Maoming 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) dispatched two vehicles to escort Mr. Wu to his home. They surrounded the home and removed his computer, printer, motorcycle, Falun Gong materials, and other personal items. The police pilfered almost everything in the house, including about 26,000 yuan in cash. Mr. Wu's son, Wu Xianjin, was at home at the time and was arrested. On July 18th, Gaozhou Court sentenced Mr. Wu, who is in his sixties, to eight years in prison.
  • Practitioners That Benefit from Falun Gong Are Persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party

    During the past 12 years, Mr. Zhou Jingcheng, 51, has been firm in his belief in Falun Gong and tells people about his cultivation experiences as well as how he has benefited from Falun Gong. As a result, he has been detained eight times, sentenced to forced labour twice, and sent to prison once. He suffered violent beatings and cruel torture in the detention centre, labour camp, and prison.
  • Wang Xinchun from Heilongjiang Province, Who Lost Both Legs from Persecution, Is Arrested Again

    Practitioner Wang Xinchun, 35, had previously been tortured by the police and as a result lost both of his legs. On October 26th, Mr. Wang was arrested again by police. His father was harassed and left feeling terribly frightened. Mr. Wang was taken to the vice squad interrogation room at the Yichun District Police Department. They confiscated his mobile phone and physically abused him. Police also ransacked Mr. Wang’s home.
  • Four Practitioners Secretly Sentenced by Yushu City Court in Jilin Province

    Four Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to a pre-trial by Yushu City Court on August 23rd after being detained in the Yushu Detention Centre for more than 100 days. The whole trial was conducted under the control of the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). Afterwards, the practitioners were detained for another two months. Their families were forbidden to visit them and knew nothing about their cases until late October, at which time the practitioners were secretly sentenced. Ms. Yang, Ms. Xu and Ms. Sun were each sentenced to three years in prison. Ms. Guo was given a term of three and a half years.
  • Engineer and His Daughter Arrested Again After His Wife Was Brutally Tortured to Death

    Mr. Zhang Qingshen, 56, is a Falun Gong practitioner. His family, including his wife Sun Yuhua and daughter Zhang Hui have been subjected to the persecution because they remain steadfast in their spiritual belief, Falun Gong. His wife was brutally beaten, tortured and subjected to forced feedings for 55 days; the severe abuse caused her death at the young age of 48. Recently he and his daughter were arrested again. Police took away 50,000 yuan in cash, two laptops and other personal property.
  • Exposing the Crimes of the Mishan City Brainwashing Centre in Heilongjiang Province

    At the Mishan City Brainwashing Centre a carrot and stick approach is used to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] detained practitioners. They are first pressured with verbal persuasion to give up the practice of Falun Gong. If this fails, then they are verbally abused and intimidated. Subsequently, they are beaten up and finally tortured in order to force them to give up their belief. An officer from the Political and Legal Committee is rewarded with 20,000 yuan for successfully “transforming” a practitioner.

    On March 5th, 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Xiangyang was arrested and taken to Tianjin City Guangbei Prison for a second time. Police officers in the prison tortured him brutally, including attaching him to an iron ring and shocking him with electric batons. In Mr. Zhou's hometown, Changli County in Qingdao City, 2,300 villagers signed petition letters to help him. This was reported overseas and generated a lot of attention. The Chinese authorities, afraid that the public would learn the truth about the persecution, instigated police officers to harass those who signed the petitions.

    As a result of the persecution of Falun Gong I was arrested eight times and put into a forced labor camp four times. I was shocked so severely with electric needles at the Dongcheng Detention Centre in Beijing that I became dysfunctional, lost my memory, and could not speak or take care of myself. At the Heitong Detention Centre I went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. On the third day of my hunger strike I was force-fed. Several people held me down and inserted a thick rubber tube into my nose, leading to my stomach, and affixed it with adhesive tape that was never removed. I felt as if I was going to suffocate. I was force-fed four times per day with cornmeal gruel.

    Ms. He Yanhua is a teacher at Shanhe High School. While she was teaching on the afternoon of October 21st, Lu Fengliang from the Yangjiao Party Committee led personnel from the Yangjiao Town government, Yangjiao Police Station, and the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) to forcibly carry her out of the school to a vehicle, which took her to the Maoming Brainwashing Centre. In the past years, Ms. He has been well-liked by her students and praised by her colleagues. Ms. He was tortured and sent to a forced labour camp because she practises Falun Gong.
  • The 610 Office in Fuzhou City Orders the Justice Bureau to Pressure Attorney

    On January 19th, 2011, Mr. Zuo Fusheng was arrested on his way to work by police. The officers later ransacked Mr. Zuo's home and approved his arrest. The 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Fuzhou City directed the Cangshan District Procuratorate and Court to escalate the persecution of Mr. Zuo. The Cangshan District Court created many obstacles to interfere with the attorney in reading the case files and meeting with his client. In the meantime, the 610 Office ordered the Justice Bureau in the attorney's city to pressure the attorney to not attend the trial.
