Mr. Wu Zuqiang from Gaozhou, Guangdong Province, was arrested by three police officers on the afternoon of October 25th, 2010. The Maoming 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) dispatched two vehicles to escort Mr. Wu to his home. They surrounded the home and removed his computer, printer, motorcycle, Falun Gong materials, and other personal items. The police pilfered almost everything in the house, including about 26,000 yuan1 in cash. Mr. Wu's son, Wu Xianjin, was at home at the time and was arrested.

Mr. Wu and his son were detained in the “Legal System School” (a brainwashing centre) in Maoming between October 26th, 2010 and December 21st. Mr. Wu and his son were then transferred to the Gaozhou Detention Centre on December 22nd.

On April 22nd, 2011, the Gaozhou Court put Mr. Wu, who is in his sixties, on trial. On July 18th, the court sentenced him to eight years in prison. Mr. Wu promptly submitted an appeal to the Maoming Intermediate Court. On September 5th, that court upheld the original verdict. Mr. Wu is still being detained in the Gaozhou Detention Centre.

Mr. Wu Xianjin was sentenced to one year of forced labour, and sent to Sanshui Forced Labour Camp in February 2011.
