  • Ms. Xu Zhen Murdered in Chongqing Women's Forced Labour Camp

    Ms. Xu Zhen, 46, was arrested in a residential area on September 20th for distributing pamphlets about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Chongqing Women's Forced Labour Camp on September 26th. As Ms. Xu refused to cooperate, the camp guards took her to the fourth floor and instigated a group of inmates to torture her. Guard Yu praised the inmates who beat Ms. Xu, telling them that they were accumulating merit by doing so, and that the more severe the torture, the better. They taped her mouth and feet, punched and kicked her, and continued to torture her with various means. On October 19th, she was tortured to death.
  • Sixty-Eight-Year-Old Ms. Zheng Hongying from Fushun City, Liaoning Province Put on Trial, Villagers Call for Her Release

    Ms. Zheng Hongying, 68, was arrested on September 6th, 2011 as she spoke with people about Falun Gong in Wangjiabu Village. Participating in the arrest were the Nankouqian Police Station head and two officers. They punched Ms. Zheng in the chest very hard, causing her severe chest pain from which she still hasn't recovered. Qingyuan County Court officials tried Ms. Zheng on November 18th, in an attempt to imprison her. Ms. Zheng was taken to the Fushun City Detention Centre following her arrest. After more than two months, she is in very poor health as a result of the physical abuse and mistreatment she suffered while in detention.
  • Ms. Zhang Yuqin and Ms. Yin Xueli from Shenqiu County, Henan Province, Sentenced to Forced Labour; Overcome with Grief, Ms. Zhang's Husband Dies

    Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhang Yuqin and Ms. Yin Xueli, Falun Gong practitioners were arrested on May 1st, 2011, as they spoke with people about Falun Gong. They were now in the Shenqiu Detention Centre. Ms. Zhang and Ms. Yin stood trial on September 21st and were informed on November 9th that Ms. Zhang had been sentenced to three and a half years of forced labour, and Ms. Yin to three years. While being detained, Ms. Zhang was subjected to different forms of persecution, and her health was poor. She could only walk with assistance and entered the courtroom with others holding her up by her arms.
  • Mr. Lin Hai from Zhijiang City, Hubei Province, Taken to Wuhan City Brainwashing Centre

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lin Hai was arrested at work on November 17th, by police and officials. The following day Mr. Lin was transferred to the Wuhan City Brainwashing Centre. The arrest was orchestrated by Zhijiang City 610 Office head (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) Xiong Jianming and had been planned for a long time. On National Day in early October, Xiong had planned to set up a brainwashing centre in Zhijiang City to persecute Mr. Lin, but the scheme ultimately failed.
  • After Being Arrested Eight Times, Ms. Chen Shuqin Dies in Changchun Women's Prison

    During the past 12 years of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) suppression of Falun Gong, Ms. Chen Shuqin had been telling people about her own experiences to affirm the goodness of Falun Gong. She was arrested eight times, served a one-year term in a forced labour camp, and was sentenced to five years in prison. During her time in detention, she was subjected to severe physical and mental abuse, she became emaciated, and her back was hunched over to a 90 degree angle. She died in Changchun Women's Prison in February 2011. Her head was swollen when she died. The prison paid 50,000 yuan to her family to settle her death quietly.
  • Schoolteacher Ms. Yang Fang from Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province Detained for Nearly Six Months

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Fang, 45, has been detained for nearly six months. Ms. Yang was followed and arrested by police when she posted Falun Gong materials on the evening of June 21st, 2011. A gang of police officers ransacked her home the following morning and took away Falun Gong materials, a printer, cash, bank deposit books and her other personal belongings. Police took Ms. Yang to the Ganyu County Detention Centre. Before this, Ms. Yang was taken into custody in 2005 and sentenced to four years in prison because she remained steadfast in her spiritual belief, Falun Gong.
  • Retired Government Employee Facing Another Unjust Sentence for Practising Falun Gong

    Mr. Wang Shengli, almost 80 years old, is a former Propaganda Department Head in Fuyang City, Anhui Province. He has been detained for nearly one year and is facing an unjust sentence. He was once sentenced to four years in 2004. After Jiang Zemin, [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] regime started to persecute practitioners in 1999, Mr. Wang was subjected to numerous mistreatments. In 2002, police took Mr. Wang to Fuyang City Detention Centre and kept him there. His two daughters, Ms. Wang Gehong and Ms. Wang Gehua, were also arrested and later kept at the Fuyang City Detention Centre.
  • Recent Persecution of Jiamusi City Practitioner Ms. Chen Fengmin

    Jiamusi City practitioner Ms. Chen Fengmin was arrested at home on October 18th. With her family's help, Ms. Chen was released from the brainwashing centre 17 days later. Since being detained, she has become very weak and is often in a befuddled mental state. Apparently, she had been mentally abused in the brainwashing centre.
  • Four Chief Nurses at Huaian City Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Jiangsu Persecuted Relentlessly Over Many Years

    Four chief nurses at the Huaian City Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Jiangsu, Ms. He Cuiping, Ms. Zhou Ling, Ms. Hu Yunqin and Ms. Li Jiuping, have been persecuted mentally, physically and financially by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) over the past 12 years for their perseverance in practising Falun Gong. They have been arrested, detained, tortured, forced to go through brainwashing and had various amounts wrongly withheld from their pay checks. Their families and friends were also harmed.
  • Former Kindergarten Teacher Ms. Jia Guirong Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jia Guirong from Baicheng City, Jilin Province was arrested by officers from Baicheng City and Qinhuangdao City on September 1st, 2011 at her rented residence in Qinhuangdao City. Two months later, Baicheng City Court officials sentenced Ms. Jia to four years in prison. Ms. Jia has been persecuted many times for having remained steadfast in her spiritual belief, Falun Gong.
  • Bakery Owner, Known for Her Kindness, Persecuted for Practising Falun Gong

    Ms. Wang Shuzhen was sentenced to a forced labour camp for three years because she practised Falun Gong. In 2011, she was arrested again by the Pingxin Town Police Station and sent to Harbin No. 2 Detention Centre. She did not pass the physical examination and was sent home, but she is still being harassed frequently.
  • Villagers Co-sign a Letter Demanding the Release of Mr. Zhang Guoxiang

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Guoxiang was arrested on June 29th, 2011 by police. Villagers from his hometown accompanied his mother to travel the long distance to Jinzhou. They presented a letter to the officials at the Jinzhou Domestic Security Division, to demand Mr. Zhang's release. The letter was co-signed by villagers and was stamped with their village seal. They also demanded the return of 6,000 yuan which the police had confiscated. However, the officials ignored their request. Mr. Zhang is currently being held in Fushun Brainwashing Centre.
  • Changping District Police in Beijing Arrest 16 Practitioners in Last Three Months

    Over the past three months, police have arrested at least 16 practitioners from the Tiantongyuan community on four subsequent arrests. The officers who participated in the arrests did not wear police uniforms or park their police cars nearby. They threatened the arrested practitioners with forced labour sentences. The police have refused to let the practitioners meet with either their families or their attorneys. They have threatened to revoke the licence of any attorney who accepts a practitioner's case. They have also declared that all arrested practitioners will be punished with forced labour sentences.
  • Ms. Wang Ruihua Arrested and Police Attempted to Sexually Assault Her, Her Family Files Complaint

    Ms. Wang Ruihua was arrested by police on February 26th, 2011. She was sent to a forced labour camp. In the Shengli Police Station, policeman Wang Conghe hit and kicked Ms. Wang. He also beat her with a stick and did not stop until the stick was broken. Afterwards, Wang Conghe tried to take off Ms. Wang's trousers with the intent to sexually assault her. Ms. Wang fought back and Wang Conghe stopped. Two other policemen stood by and witnessed the entire episode and a police official watched through a door gap but he did not stop Wang Conghe. Ms. Wang's family then filed a complaint against the Shengli Police Station.
  • Horticulturalist Held in Forced Labour Camp Facing Trial

    On November 9th, Mr. Wang Weidong, who was being held in the Handan Forced Labour Camp, was transferred to the Tangshan City No. 2 Detention Centre by police. The police arrested him on a trumped-up charge and attempted to send him to prison. The Chinese Communist Party started to suppress Falun Gong in 1999. Mr. Wang and his wife, Ms. Li, were detained because of their belief. They were later monitored for an extended period of time. More than 100,000 yuan was taken from their salaries.
