  • Two Practitioners Die in December as a Result of Persecution

    Ms. Fei Jinrong, a practitioner from Shuangyashan City of Heilongjiang Province and a former chief auditor from Shuangyashan City Auditory Bureau, was persecuted until she suffered a complete mental collapse. On December 12th, she passed away at the age of 61. Ms. Liu Wei, 55, was a practitioner in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. She was released from a forced labour camp in March 2010. Unfortunately, her health had been significantly compromised by the maltreatment she received, and she passed away on December 10th.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Brutally Tortured in Gangbei Prison in Tianjin

    Because Mr. Liu Huijiang, 42, persisted in practising Falun Gong, he was arrested on November 30th, 2008. He was sentenced on August 31st, 2010, and detained in Gangbei Prison. After arriving at the prison in a car, he shouted, "Falun Gong is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!" He was then taken to a cell and beaten by police. He was subsequently handcuffed and shackled by police officer. For each meal he was given only a piece of bread and some water. The guards forced him to sit on a small stool only 20 cm (8 in.) high. His handcuffs and shackles were connected to an iron hoop on the ground so that he could not straighten his body. He had to lie on the floor to eat. He could only use the toilet at a set time.
  • Ms. Feng Angui from Qijiang County, Chongqing City, Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

    When Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Feng Angui went shopping on May 10th, 2010 police arrested her. Later, other police officers ransacked her house. While doing so, they arrested her husband, Mr. Li Zongyue, and took him to the Qijiang County Detention Centre. He was later released. The Qijiang County Court secretly tried Ms. Feng in August 2010 without informing her family. On December 13th, during another court proceeding, she was sentenced to three years in prison.
  • Officers and Guards Cruelly Torture Ms. Cui Yutao in Datong City, Shanxi Province

    Last June, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cui Yutao went to a police station seeking information regarding a fellow practitioner who had been arrested, and was herself arrested. She was arrested again in December. Officers tied Ms. Cui Yutao to the interrogation chair upon her arrival. She shouted, “Falun Gong is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!" The deputy director of the city police department came, heard her shouting, then whipped her face with a black plastic-covered notebook over ten times. When the notebook broke, he used the black cover to continue to whip her. Those present were shocked to see his cruelty. Ms. Cui's eyes were watering and swollen. On January 6th, 2011, Ms. Cui Yutao was dying and had low blood pressure, so her family picked her up. Her condition is critical.
  • Hotel Manager Ms. Sun Shufen Persecuted to Death

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Shufen went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in December 2000, but was arrested. Ms. Sun was subjected to brainwashing at the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents tried to force her to write the three statements to denounce Falun Gong. Because she refused to write such statements, she was shocked by the guards with electric batons. On one night, guard Hou Zhihong shocked her on the neck for three hours. Inmate Liu Dongjiao was instructed to deprive Ms. Sun of sleep by forcing her to stand still with her head bent downward. In 2003 Ms. Sun was arrested and sentenced to two years again and was severely tortured. Ms. Sun's health deteriorated due to constant bleeding that had started at the forced labour camp. She passed away on September 13th, 2009.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Lu Dongmei of Jining City, Shandong Province, Tortured

    On September 14th, 2010, when Ms. Lu Dongmei was working she was again arrested by police. They pushed her into the vehicle, without identifying themselves or presenting an arrest warrant and did not notify her family. Ms. Lu was taken to a brainwashing centre to force her to renounce her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She was also fired from her job. Previously, Ms. Lu was once taken to a mental hospital by police for practising Falun Gong. She was injected with unknown drugs, entered a vegetative state, and could no longer take care of herself.
  • Police from Huachuan County, Heilongjiang Province, Frame Innocent Woman

    On December 13th, 2010, police arrested Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Liu Fengping and her daughter, Ms. Wang Dan. The two had gone to visit their relatives in Hengtoushan Town. The police tried to have Ms. Wang sentenced to a jail term. They fabricated evidence and forced her colleagues to perjure themselves in their testimonies. Ms. Wang Dan has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because of her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. While she was in high school, her mother was detained twice and the police constantly went to her school to harass her. The mental pressure and financial problems created by her mother’s detention forced Wang Dan to discontinue her high school education so that she could support herself.
  • An Excellent Tangshan Steel Company Employee Arrested

    On November 24th, 2010, Mr. Tang Tieyong was arrested by police and taken to the Second Detention Centre solely because he had viewed the Clearwisdom website (a Falun Gong website). His home was also ransacked. In 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong for the third time. Police identified him while he was on the train and detained him in Tangshan Brainwashing Centre. Mr. Tang was not released until authorities had extorted 6000 yuan from his family.
  • Ms. Duan Linxia, Victim of Ongoing Detention and Extortion

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Duan Linxia was most recently arrested on the morning of December 17th, when she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong at a market in Qianan City. Ms. Duan was first detained at the Shaheyi Town Police Station. In the afternoon, she was taken to the Qianan Police Department. Ms. Duan's husband, Mr. Liu Jianhua, was arrested in the afternoon. Her home was ransacked, and police confiscated the family's new car. Ms. Duan's husband was released that night. Ms. Duan is still being held at the Qianan Detention Centre.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Chunxiang from Ningde City in Fujian Province Persecuted to Death

    On September 22nd, 2009, Ms. Li Chunxiang was arrested at her home and brutally beaten by police. Ms. Li was forced to perform manual labour during her imprisonment in Ningde City Detention Centre. A guard named struck Ms. Li in the head with such force that she sustained a concussion and was paralysed as a result. She lay in bed and was unable to move at all. On November 20th, Ms. Li was carried out of the detention centre on a stretcher, paralysed. At home, police threatened her on the phone by saying that she would be imprisoned in the forced labour camp if she practised Falun Gong again. Ms. Li’s condition deteriorated sharply due to the stress. On November 22nd, 2010, she died in Jiaxing Armed Police Hospital in Shanghai.
  • Several Employees of Chengdu Computer City Detained for Eighteen Months

    Seven Falun Gong practitioners, employed at the company Chengdu Computer City, were arrested by police in July 2009 and are still detained. Their case has been pushed back and forth between the court and police at least twice because of insufficient evidence. Attorneys of the practitioners said the process severely violates the law. The litigants have been detained for an unreasonable length of time according to the criminal law article 74 and article 75. Thus, Wuhou District Court should release the seven litigants.
  • Chinese Communist Party Personnel from Qinglong County, Hebei Province, Order the Arrests of Practitioners

    Li Xuemin, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) secretary of Qinglong Manchu Autonomous County, Qingdao City, Hebei Province, ordered the government offices of different levels to arrest more than ten practitioners and force them to undergo brainwashing. Police went to Mr. Chen Youtian's home and ransacked it on December 13th. They confiscated many of Mr. Chen's personal belongings, including a computer, a printer, a mobile phone, DVD discs, and a personal bank book that totalled over sixty thousand yuan. They also arrested his wife, Ms. Guo Kunlan. Mr. Chen was not home at the time and has now been forced into homelessness to avoid further persecution.
  • The Persecution of Ms. Hou Guimin, from Shanhaiguan Shipyard in Hebei Province, Prior to Her Death

    Ms. Hou Guimin had practised Falun Gong since 1997, and everyone in the company knew that she was a good person. The general manager once said, “If everyone practised Falun Gong, it would be easy for me to run this company!” On July 25th, 2001, police besieged her home and began battering down the door. Suddenly and unexpectedly faced with such a terrifying situation, she felt that she had no other choice but to try and escape through the window. Unfortunately, she fell from the building and lost her life. She was only 44 years old.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Lin Wenwei in Critical Condition After Being Tortured

    In early November 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lin Wenwei was tortured at Fuqing Prison until he was in critical condition. Guards took him to Fuzhou Hospital and notified his family only after his condition failed to improve. Mr. Lin's sister and her husband went to Fuzhou Hospital and found that his entire body was black and blue. They asked the hospital officials for his release, so that they could take him back to Xiamen City for treatment. Mr. Lin was then brought to the Haichang Number 2 Hospital in Xiamen by ambulance. After a few days of treatment, Mr. Lin regained consciousness, but he couldn't think or speak clearly, nor could he remember the details of his ordeal at Fuqing Prison. His internal organs were damaged and he showed symptoms of brain atrophy.
  • Family Loses Contact with Imprisoned Mr. Cao Dong

    Mr. Cao Dong has been detained at Tianshui Prison in Gansu Province. His family has not heard from him by phone or through mail since August 2010. They mailed him money to pay for daily necessities at the prison in August, September, and October of 2010, but have not been able to confirm that he received it. They called the prison in November and were told by Liu, the section chief in charge of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, that Mr. Cao “is doing well and will be released soon.” No details about Mr. Cao's current condition were provided. In his effort to rescue his imprisoned wife, Ms. Yang Xiaojing, Mr. Cao met with the vice president of the European Parliament, Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, on May 21st, 2006. Police arrested him while he was on his way home after the meeting.
