Practitioner Liu Wei of Shijianzhuang City Persecuted to Death

Ms. Liu Wei, 55, was a practitioner in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. She was released from a forced labour camp in March 2010. Unfortunately, her health had been significantly compromised by the maltreatment she received, and she passed away on December 10th.

Ms. Liu had been arrested by officers from Yuhua Street Police Station of Shijiazhuang and detained at Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp. During the detention she was locked in a solitary cell, denied use of the toilet, pinned to the ground and pinched by other inmates, and forced to undergo brainwashing by Chinese Communist Party agents and camp inmates.

The unrelenting suffering she endured severely affected her physical and mental well-being. Before the incarceration, she was 175 cm tall (5 ft. 9 in.) and weighed 75 kilograms (165 lb.). Ms. Liu was in good physical condition and enjoyed a head of healthy black hair. When released from detention her blood pressure was abnormally high, her weight had dropped to 55 kilograms (110 lb.), and her hair had turned completely white. Sadly, she never regained her health.
