Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured and Killed at "Lanzhou Legal Training School"

In July, 2005, the "Lanzhou Legal Training School" locked practitioner Ms. Liu Zhifang, 48 years old, an actress at the Lanzhou Yu Opera, in a confinement cell in the south western corner of the labour camp. They first handcuffed Ms. Liu behind her back, then they hung her up. Ms. Liu ran a fever, so the doctor on duty gave her an IV (which usually contains unknown drugs). On a July night, Ms. Liu died. The Gongjawan Brainwashing Centre announced that Ms. Liu Zhifang committed "suicide"(including a document that was sent to all levels of government officials). They threatened people who knew the truth so they would not reveal it. To eliminate the evidence Ms. Liu's body was cremated without an autopsy. -
Practitioner Mr. Li Zengfeng of Guan County, Shandong Province Dies Shortly After Release from Brainwashing Centre
2008-08-11On March 7th, 2008, police and Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials arrested practitioner Mr. Li Zengfeng and his wife Ms. Xu Qiaoyun and sent them to the Guan County Detention Centre. Mr. Li Zengfeng was sentenced to forced labour and transferred to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp on April 11th, 2008. The officials at the labour camp refused to accept Mr. Li because he had high blood pressure and a heart disorder. His overall health was in poor condition and police sent Mr. Li to the Liaocheng brainwashing centre. Soon after his release from the brainwashing centre, Mr. Li became critically ill and died at the age of 44 years old. On July 13th, 2008, his body was cremated. -
Ms. Han Fenglan Dies after Suffering Mental Collapse as Result of Persecution
2008-08-10Ms. Han Fenglan, in her 50s, lived in Heilongjiang Province. Because she refused to give up her faith in Falun Gong, at the end of 2006, she was arrested twice by police officers from the town station and the county department. She was threatened and tortured in the Fuyu County Police Department, which caused her to suffer a mental collapse. After her release, she lived in terror, constantly telling others that officers were following her, and hid under a blanket in terror. She was found dead at her home on July 18th, 2008, apparently from a self-inflicted hanging. -
Ms. Yang Jinying, in Her Fifties, from Baoding City Dies as a Result of Persecution
2008-08-08Ms. Yang Jinying, a Falun Gong practitioner from Baoding City, Hebei Province, was arrested and persecuted many times for practising Falun Gong. On August 7th, 2005, she was arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police for tapping into a local television network to broadcast the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was brutally tortured physically and mentally. Later she escaped from the hospital after breaking out of handcuffs, and became destitute and homeless. Her health did not recover and she died on June 21st, 2008. -
Older Mr. Zhang Lizhu Dies as a Result of Persecution in Henan Province
2008-08-08Mr. Zhang Lizhu, 67, lived in a village in Henan Province. In March 2007, police arrested him and detained him in a detention centre. He was transferred to the Xinmi Prison at the end of 2007 and tortured until his life was in danger. On March 2nd, 2008, his family picked him up, but the Xinmi Prison Administration took him back into custody again after a month. He was later taken home due to his critical condition. He died on July 11th, 2008. -
Mr. Zhong Zhenfu Dies from Cruel Beating in Detention
2008-08-07On May 4th, 2008, Pingdu City 610 Office stormed into houses that were being rented by Falun Gong practitioners as sites producing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution. They arrested Mr. Zhong Zhenfu. The police forced interrogated him. When he refused to reveal any information the officers poured boiling water over his neck and body. At Pingdu City Detention Centre guards put shackles on Mr. Zhong Zhenfu and whipped him about the head with metal wires. His life was in danger after this abuse. He was then detained in a metal cage, and the guards ordered the criminal inmates to torture him and beat him. The guards sent Zhong Zhenfu to the hospital. The doctor told them that Mr. Zhong's injuries were very serious. He died on July 20th, 2008. -
Middle School Teacher Han Qingkun, in His Fifties, Dies from Torture in Forced Labour Camp
2008-08-07Mr. Han Qingkun was a teacher in Shandong Province. In 2006, he was doing the Falun Gong exercises in a motel when he was arrested by police and later sentenced to two years of forced labour, which he served in the Xuchang City Forced Labour Camp in Henan Province. During his first two months of detention, he was inhumanly tortured, causing him to develop cirrhosis of the liver. The camp administration didn't notify his family, nor did they allow him to be bailed out on medical parole. They released him when he was dying, on February 17th, 2007. His family could hardly recognize him. His hair and moustache were grey, his abdomen was bloated, and his buttocks flesh had an infected wound. His clothes were all in pieces. He had a high fever and remained unconscious. He died at home, one month after his release, on March 30th, 2007, at the age of fifty-two. -
64-Year-Old Mr. Liu Tingheng Dies After Being Tortured in Benxi City "Legal Centre" in Liaoning Province
2008-08-07Mr. Liu Tingheng, 64, was arrested and detained four times. In September 2001, he was detained in the Weining Forced Labour Camp of Benxi City. Guards locked him in a small cell, cuffed his hands behind his back, which cut into his flesh and caused his wrists and hands to swell the next day. He was bitten by mosquitoes all over his body and suffered incontinence. He was then tortured with the sitting board 13 hours per day, during which he was not allowed to talk or move. In April 2007, Mr. Liu was arrested for the last time and detained in Benxi City Forced Labour Camp. He was tortured until he was bedridden for a month, his chest became full of liquid, and the camp administration allowed his family to pick him up. Only twenty days after returning home, he died, on the early morning of June 9th, 2008. -
Ms. Liu Guoshu Dies from Injection of Unknown Drug in Sichuan Province
2008-07-31Ms. Liu Guoshu, 46, went to Beijing to appeal for an end to the persecution in 2000. Since then she was arrested multiple times and sent to brainwashing centres. On July 11th, 2008, police broke into her house. Four officers cruelly beat her and forced her to the floor. They then injected her with an unknown drug, which was extremely painful. On the morning of July 17th, Ms. Liu was going to a neighbour's house. Due to the unknown effects of the drug, she fell on the pavement. Neighbours found her and immediately took her to the hospital. On the way there she was dying, but managed to tell them, "Four officers injected poison in me." By the time their vehicle reached the hospital she had already died. -
Deng Yuqun and Deng Yulian, Two Sisters from Hunan Province, Passed Away Due to the Persecution
2008-07-29Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Deng Yuqun, 47 years old, died on March 3rd, 2008, from hardships related to being forced to live homeless for three years. When Deng Yuqun went home for the 2008 Lantern Festival, she was emaciated and barely recognizable. Her family members were afraid to send her to the hospital and tried to persuade her to tell the authorities that she had given up Falun Gong. Her sister Deng Yulian was sentenced to forced labour camp and suffered brutal persecution in Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou. She died on March 12th, 2007, only 42 years old. -
What Happened to Ms. Liu Aiying Before Her Death?
2008-07-28Ms. Liu Aiying, 51, gave her neighbour's child a Falun Gong leaflet exposing the persecution, and was reported to the police by her neighbour. On June 25th, 2008, police officers arrested and interrogated her at the police station, and then took her home and ransacked it. At around 3:00 p.m., while her home was being ransacked, and under the custody of many officers, she fell from the fourth floor of her apartment at the Car Parts Factory family housing, and died at around 7:00 p.m. the same day. The police said she committed suicide by jumping from the building. They concealed all information, and notified her long separated husband Li, and coerced him with threats into accepting the story that she committed suicide. -
Ms. Yu Xiuhua from Shandong Province, Ms. Chen Lianfeng from Beijing, and Others That Have Died as a Result of the Persecution
2008-07-27After the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, the officials at 64-year-old Ms. Chen Lianfeng's workplace forced her to go to brainwashing centres several times. Her family was under great stress. At the beginning of June 2008, Ms. Chen showed severe symptoms of illness and was not able to eat for several days. A week before she passed away, officials from her workplace went to her home to "educate" her and warned her to not cause trouble during the Olympics. This caused her even greater stress and she became weaker. After being persecuted for nine years, Ms. Chen passed away on June 26th, 2008. -
Details about Ms. Chen Yumei Being Beaten to Death by Police in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province

Ms. Chen Yumei's body was cremated on July 6th, 2008. She was arrested on the evening of July 3rd, 2008, and brutally beaten by officers from Chang'an Police Station in Dadong District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province until she passed out. Ms. Chen was taken to hospital. The doctor found severe bleeding in her skull. Her family saw that her arms and legs were covered with bruises, and her body had severe scratches as a result of being dragged on the ground. The doctors said that the marks were caused by being beaten or dragged. She died on the evening of July 4th, 2008, at age 48. -
Mr. Qi Tingsong's Family Receives Compensation for His Death Due to Torture after Persistent Appeals

Mr. Qi Tingsong, a Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested on October 15th, 2007, by Laiwu police. By November 11th he was dead as a result of torture. Mr. Qi Tingsong's family members appealed this injustice to the relevant departments for six months, but no one paid any attention to them. Mr. Qi's wife hired a lawyer who insisted on seeking justice. Laiwu Police Department were in the wrong and had no recourse, so they had to comply with the lawyer's mediation to compensate Mr. Qi Tingsong's wife. -
Who Caused Mr. Liu Xiaozhao's Death?
2008-07-20In 2000, Liu Xiaozhao was taken to Laiwu Detention Centre by police. In order to resist the persecution and prove that belief in Falun Gong is not a crime, he went on a hunger strike for about eight or nine days without food and water. He became skin and bones. When he returned home, his wife had gone back to her parents because she could no longer bear the hardship. Liu Xiaozhao thought to himself how his wife and child were implicated because of him and didn't enjoy any of the good things in life with him. No one cared if they got food to eat or not under the dictatorship of the CCP, people were not allowed to practice qigong in order to gain a healthy body. What would be the end of this kind of life? Liu Xiaozhao had never been good at expressing himself since he was young and always kept his thoughts to himself. But no one imagined that he would choose death to end the suffering.
