  • Gansu Women's Prison: Practitioners Tortured and Hospitalized for Refusing to Be “Transformed”

    Over 40 Falun Gong practitioners are detained in the Gansu Women's Prison. They are subject to beatings and other tortures daily. Screaming can often be heard from different cells. These practitioners are tortured for not complying with “transformation” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] and refusing to abandon their beliefs. Ms. Lu Yueling had her right leg bone fractured. Ms. Lu Guihua has become disabled and mentally disoriented due to severe beatings.
  • At Least 614 Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in July 2014

    At least 614 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested between July 1st and July 24th across China, according to data collected as of July 27th. Liaoning, Shandong, Jilin, and Sichuan provinces have the most arrests, each with over 70. Most of the arrested practitioners were taken to brainwashing centres for short-term detentions. More than 30 large-scale arrests (of five or more practitioners) took place in July in 13th provinces and municipalities.
  • 70-Year-Old Female Practitioner from Chongqing Detained

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Yeyi, 70, has been detained at the Qianzhugou Brainwashing Centre for over a month. The intense brainwashing and mistreatment she has been subjected to has reportedly caused her to be disfigured. Since she refused to renounce her belief in Falun Gong, she is not allowed to have visitors. Officials at the brainwashing centre said that there will be no visitation rights until she “transforms” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong].
  • Eighty-Year-Old Woman Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

    Ms. Jia Changzhi, 80, was arrested in 2012 and secretly sentenced to three years in the Jilin Women's Prison. Ms. Jia had been arrested and tortured many times by the police since the persecution started in 1999, for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. In 2005, Ms. Jia was arrested by police and interrogated for over 10 hours, as she was carrying Falun Gong informational materials, and the police wanted to know who gave her them. She was tortured because she refused to tell them. Officer Zhang Naijiang claimed: “Despite your age, I shall find two beggars to rape you.” After 10 plus hours of torture, her body was covered with bruises. Even her feet turned black and blue. ThMs. Jia's hands were cuffed to the window frame and her feet were shackled. The top of her feet could barely touch the floor.
  • 13-Year-Old Boy: I Lost Three Family Members During the Persecution

    The following is a story from a 13-year-old boy, who used to have a happy family filled with love. However, during the last 15 years, his family has been through enormous hardships as they are persecuted for their belief: His dad wasarrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison, and he died one year after his release; his mum was sentenced to three years of forced labour when he was just over four years old; he spent the first seven years of his young life wandering from place to place; both his paternal grandparents were taken to forced labour camps for a year; his grandma and great grandma died one after another due to extreme anxiety.
  • Retired Military Officer Again Tortured to the Brink of Death; Wife Detained for the Third Time

    Retired military officer Mr. Yao Rongxuan has been persecuted for over a decade simply because of his faith in Falun Gong. He has been detained, imprisoned and persecuted financially. He was sentenced to seven months of forced labour and unjustly imprisoned for seven years from February 2001 to end of 2009. He was subjected to various forms of torture during his detention. As a consequence, he was severely persecuted physically as well as mentally and nearly died in prison. His wife Ms. Xu Xiaoqin was also persecuted after she began practising in 2010. She was recently arrested for the third time.
  • Real Estate Executive Loses Sight in His Left Eye While in Detention

    Mr. Li Xiaobo, a real estate executive, was arrested for distributing flyers about Falun Gong. His attorney recently met with him and found out that he had lost sight in his left eye. The authorities have denied his request for medical parole, and his family members are very concerned about him. Mr. Li and his son, Mr. Li Zhe, were arrested by officers from the Hong’an Police Station on April 12th, 2014. Mr. Li Zhe, who is a Canadian citizen, was repatriated soon after.
  • Black Jail Profile: Mishan City Brainwashing Centre in Heilongjiang Province

    Mishan Brainwashing Centre is called a “Law School,” although it is actually a black jail. Mishan Brainwashing Centre was opened in June 2011, and 22 practitioners had been incarcerated there by 2012. In 2013, officials promised their superiors that they would “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] ten practitioners. After they met this quota, they would be awarded 200,000 yuan. The average reward is 20,000 yuan for "transforming" one practitioner. Driven by greed and the promise of advancement, another wave of persecution started in June 2013.
  • Guizhou Province: Police Use Devious Schemes to Acquire Blood Samples from Falun Gong Practitioners

    Police and local authorities in Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, have tried to get their hands on samples of local Falun Gong practitioners' blood in recent months. Different schemes have been used to trick practitioners into giving a sample of their blood. The local authorities are reportedly attempting to establish a DNA database of local practitioners. These unusual incidents are suspected of being linked to state-sanctioned organ harvesting.
  • Court Lies to Defence Attorney, Tries Practitioner Secretly and Without Counsel

    There is no honour in China's legal system. The family of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Guiqi learned that firsthand, when they hired lawyers to defend Mr. Wang. Mr. Wang was forced to appear in many secret hearings between March and November 2013, without legal counsel. And the court intended to bypass his lawyer and try him in June 2014.
  • School Children Targeted for Brainwashing by the 610 Office in Guangxi Province

    The “Youth Education Centre Against Heretical Organisations” was established in Baise City, Guangxi Province, in May 2014. It is another way the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) brainwashes school children into being against Falun Gong. Videos, audios, window displays, books, bulletin boards, charts, and pictures slandering Falun Gong and its founder are employed. Dongjing Central Elementary School held a signature assembly on April 16th. Teachers and students were to sign a pledge slandering Falun Gong.
  • Practitioners Recall Suspicious Blood Draws in Mudanjiang Prison and Daxing Women's Forced Labour Camp

    I was sentenced to four years in Mudanjiang Prison for practising Falun Gong. Between 2002 and 2006, I underwent three “health checkups.” Each time, they took my blood pressure and drew a syringe of blood. When I was released I read the reports about organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners while they were still alive. It has come to light that in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) prisons and forced labour camps all over China, practitioners have been subjected to “health checkups,” and their blood is taken for tests.
  • 12 Years Later, Shandong Woman Still Suffers from Complications of Toxic Injection Received at a Labour Camp

    The day before her scheduled release from the labour camp in 2002, Ms. Gu Jing, a then-60-year-old woman jailed for her faith in Falun Gong, was given a toxic injection likely intended to take her life. The camp authorities were so sure of her eventual fate that they reported her “death” prematurely to the local police department soon afterwards. Though Ms. Gu survived the potentially lethal injection, she still suffers from the lingering complications 12 years later. She has to live with dizziness, high blood pressure and a constant feeling of heaviness in her head.
  • New International Convention Adopted to Make Organ Trafficking a Criminal Offence

    The Council of Europe has recently adopted a new international convention to make trafficking of human organs for transplant a criminal offense. The convention will be open for signatures by state members and non-state members of the Council of Europe. The European Union passed a resolution last December, condemning and calling for the end of forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience in China, a large majority of whom are Falun Gong practitioners.
  • Heilongjiang Women's Prison: Wards Dedicated to Systematic Brainwashing

    Heilongjiang Women's Prison has played an infamous role in the Chinese regime's persecution of Falun Gong. Special wards were designated specifically for “transforming” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] Falun Gong practitioners, attempting to force them to renounce their beliefs through coercive brainwashing and physical abuse. The prison employs a systematic “transformation” process: incoming practitioners are first subjected to beatings and other forms of physical abuse. Baojia then work to persuade them to renounce their beliefs, often using guard-sanctioned violence. As a part of the same process, practitioners are also forced to watch propaganda videos.
