  • Mengyin County 610 Office in Shandong Province Withholds Falun Gong Practitioners' Salaries and Pensions

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gong Weisen, 72, is a retiree of the Mengyin Land and Resources Bureau. In 2000, the Mengyin 610 Office staff [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong] and policemen ransacked his home. They found a Falun Gong book and fined him 5,000 yuan. Shortly after, the 610 Office took away his pension from the Mengyin Pension Insurance Bureau starting in January 2001, leaving Mr. Gong with no money at all for the past ten years. The total amount taken away from Mr. Gong is 230,000 yuan. Mr. Gong has had to live on support from his children and relatives.
  • Please Help Rescue Two University Lecturers Arrested for Booking Tickets for Shen Yun's Performance in Hong Kong in 2010

    Ms. Wang Hongmei and Ms. Chen Ping, both Falun Gong practitioners in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, have been in custody for more than one year. The police arrested them simply because they wanted to book tickets for the 2010 Hong Kong Shen Yun performance, a world-class traditional Chinese cultural show. The police monitored the two practitioners’ mobile phones and Internet use, and learned of their plans. On January 13th, 2010, agents from the Domestic Security Division of the Shunqing District Police Department broke into their homes and arrested them. The police took them to Huafeng Detention Centre in Nanchong City, where they have since been incarcerated.
  • Witnessing the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Masanjia Labour Camp

    Before the 2008 Beijing Olympics, several thousand Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in Beijing and taken into forced labour re-education in Masanjia Labour Camp. The extortion of practitioners was conducted openly. We were told, “If you want to get red flags (which can reduce the labour re-education term), you must spend money.” The guards claimed that labour re-education meant punishment, and that it was too time consuming to reason with practitioners, so they go straight to physical violence. They also beat practitioners for money. If practitioners do not pay the bribes to the group or cell head, he can find a reason to beat them.
  • Twelve Practitioners from an Administrative Area in Liaoning Province Sentenced to Prison

    Zhenxing District is a small administrative area in Dandong City, Liaoning Province. Agents from the district 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and officials from public security organisations, procuratorial organisations, and courts arrested 24 Falun Gong practitioners between 2009 and 2010. Half were sentenced to prison, and five practitioners were subjected to forced labour. Li Hua was sentenced to eight years in prison for practising Falun Gong.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Liang Rongqi from Duyun City Sentenced to Six Years of Imprisonment

    On January 6th, 2011, a Duyun City Court judge in Guizhou Province went to Qiannanzhou Detention Centre and sentenced Falun Gong practitioner Liang Rongqi to six years of imprisonment. Mr. Liang's family members came to the detention centre to see him, but they were not allowed in. The court did not give the verdict to his family members. Mr. Liang appealed to the Qiannanzhou Intermediate Court.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Cai Rong Recounts Brutal Persecution

    Ms. Cai Rong was persecuted many times during the past ten years. She was grossly abused and mistreated in the Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp during her two terms. She recounts her experience in the labour camp: "Several practitioners and I used to tear down slogans that slandered Falun Gong's founder. The guards were aggressive about abusing and mistreating practitioners. Zhu Tiehong banged my head against a wall. I was dizzy and saw stars. Guards Li Xiujin and Jiang Jianan hit me ferociously, slapping my cheeks and kicking me with their leather boots. I was beaten black and blue all over my body. Even after few months, I was still covered with dark bruises."
  • Chenzhou 610 Office Arrested Ms. Chen Binge and Extorted Money from Her Daughter

    On October 12th, 2010, police broke into Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Binge’s home, arrested her and forced to attend a brainwashing session. In the class, several CCP members dragged her by her arms, causing severe bruising. When she asked them why they were being so rough, they replied, “It’s because you should not study Falun Gong.” Ms. Chen went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. They tried everything, including threats and promises to release her, to get Ms. Chen to write a pledge to not practise Falun Gong anymore. Ms. Chen refused to sign, so they extorted 1,824 yuan from her daughter.
  • Dandong City Procuratorate Persecutes the Shao Sisters

    Zhenxing District Court in Dandong City, Liaoning Province tried practitioners Ms. Shao Changfen and Shao Changhua on December 24th. During their defence of the practitioners, two Beijing lawyers pointed out that practising Falun Gong is exercising their freedom of belief. Freedom of belief is a basic human right. The court could not dispute the lawyers' justifiable defence. The judge announced a recess until further notice. Ten days later, the court sentenced Shao Changfen and Shao Changhua to seven years and four years of prison, respectively, without holding another open hearing.
  • Persecution of Ms. Li Yumei from Shuangcheng, Heilongjiang Province

    Ms. Li Yumei was persecuted many times by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because she refused to renounce practising Falun Gong. She recounts her experience: "On January 17th, 2001, I went to appeal in Beijing and displayed a banner that read “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” at Tiananmen Square. I was arrested there and sent to Daxing County Detention Centre, where I went on a hunger strike. The authorities intravenously injected me every two days. I would not cooperate, and was kicked and beaten by criminals. I was then shackled, and dragged out and tied to a bed to be connected to the IV. My weight declined rapidly, my mouth was dry, and my gums bled. My mouth foamed when I talked, and I fainted once because my blood pressure was so low."
  • Ms. Chen Shulan Jailed for Eight Years, Daughter Still Missing

    Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen on September 16th, 2002. She was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison and detained in the Beijing Women's Prison, where she was badly mistreated. She was released on March 17th, 2010, after serving her full term. That same day, however, she was arrested again and taken to the Changping District Brainwashing Centre where she was subjected to 70 days of brainwashing before finally being released at the end of May 2010. Her 10 year-old daughter is still missing. Ms. Chen brother Chen Aizhong was tortured to death at the Hehuakeng Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City on September 20th, 2001. Ms. Chen's sister, Chen Hongping, was taken to a forced labour camp; both of her legs were broken by communist officials and she was tortured to death at the Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp on March 5th, 2003.
  • First-Hand Account of Persecution as Told by a 54-Year-Old Woman from Jinzhou, Liaoning Province

    I am a 54-year-old Falun Gong practitioner. Because of my belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I was repeatedly arrested and tortured. In 2001, I was detained again and I protested by going on a hunger strike. Seven or eight criminal detainees participated in force-feeding me under the instigation of the police. They put me down on a "tiger bench" and tied me up with metal wire, twisting the wire with a pair of pliers until it cut into my flesh, causing excruciating pain. My arms turned black and blue. Then the police inserted a tube (the width of a finger) into my throat. Blood instantly gushed from it.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Severely Abused in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp, Changchun City, Jilin Province

    On January 4th, 2011, in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp, team chief Ding cruelly beat Ms. Zhang Li because she refused to give up or renounce Falun Gong. To make the practitioners suffer more, Ding made many regulations. For instance, practitioners must report to and ask permission from the chief guards if they want to go to the toilet. In many cases they were not given permission and had to use a bucket in their room as a toilet. Their room could be very cold in the winter because the radiator was broken, but they were forced to keep their door open during the daytime.
  • Ms. Yang Jinying Persecuted to Death Seven Years Ago; Her Son Recently Files an Indictment

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Jinying was persecuted to death at the age of only 53 in November 2003. She was subjected to so much torture that she became paralyzed and lost control of her bodily functions. Even though her condition was critical, the police still sentenced her to three years of imprisonment. Her two sons were attending middle school at the time. Mr. Wang Lei, Ms. Yang's older son, recently filed an indictment against the Qiaocheng District Police Department for persecuting his mother to death. He requested an investigation and the prosecution of those responsible.

    From a very young age, Mr. Ding Xuesen was aggressive, and he smoked and drank. He was a bully in school and often involved in group fights. After practising Falun Gong, he was no longer aggressive and became a person with high morals. However, after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Ding was brutally tortured because he believed in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
  • Mr. Yang Jianpo Arrested Again; His Wife Tries to Reason With the Prison Guards

    On December 28th, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Jianpo was arrested again. His wife wrote a letter to the prison officers in Jidong Prison in the hopes that they would be able to realize that they were taking part in the persecution of good people. Mr. Yang was arrested before—in 2006—and sentenced to six years in prison. He resisted the persecution and went on a hunger strike for two years and eight months. On September 29th, 2008, he was released and taken home by people from Jidong Prison. When he came back, he was extremely emaciated and weak, and his internal organs were barely functioning.
