Inside the Labour Camps

  • The Suffering of Practitioner Mr. Cheng Huazheng in His 60s at Bazhong Labour Camp in Guizhou Province

Three years ago, Cheng Huazheng, was perfectly healthy. But now, due to the tortures he experienced in a labour camp, he is skinny and weak, his body is covered with wounds and his previously black hair is grey. He cannot walk normally and his mental health has been damaged too. Before the persecution, he had perfect teeth, but in the labour camp, most of his teeth were knocked out. Now, he cannot chew anything, and his gums bleed whenever he tries to eat something. He is out of the labour camp now, but he is very weak. He vomits blood daily due to internal injuries and he is in a very dangerous situation.
  • Details of Recent Persecution of the Zhang Lianying Family by the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp Authorities

Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, Ms Zhang Lianying has been arrested several times, detained, severely persecuted and narrowly escaped death. She was imprisoned at the Jiamusi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province in 2001. There she suffered unbelievable physical and mental persecution to force her to give up her belief in Falun Gong. The police tied her on a bench for long periods of time and then to a "death bed" for more than forty days. They shocked her with electric batons, beat her cruelly, force-fed her savagely, among other torments.
  • Details on the Persecution of Practitioners at Wuyuan Forced Labour Camp in Inner Mongolia

Besides using forced labour to torture practitioners, they also force practitioners to attend "brainwashing sessions," where they use despicable, underhanded methods to persecute practitioners. Information about these crimes is tightly sealed, and even regular criminals or non-participating guards do not know what goes on inside. The more-than twenty practitioners imprisoned there are subjected to both physical and psychological tortures that are inhumane beyond words. They have been beaten with electric batons after midnight so that their cries and shouts are not heard. The guards handcuff the practitioner, put a motorcycle helmet on his head, and then shock him with several electric batons.
  • Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Liu Cheng Disabled from Torture at the Jinzhou City Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province

Guards attempted to make Mr. Liu give up Falun Dafa. They made him sit on a bed, and handcuffed him separately to each side of the bed's headboard. The officers then incited criminals to beat him. They beat his chest with their fists and used the bottoms of their shoes to hit his head and face. They further used a mop handle to poke his chest, knees and ankles and kicked his back. While this was happening, the guards electrically shocked Mr. Liu's face and neck. Following that abuse, the evildoers handcuffed him to a heating pipe in such a way that he could neither stand nor squat, and they continued to beat and shock him.
  • Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp in Hebei Province Persecutes Practitioners by Locking Them in Dark Rooms, Burying Them Alive, and Leaving Them with Poisonous Snakes

Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp is a hell on earth. There were 103 electric batons used to shock practitioners' mouths and sensitive parts until their skin blistered. Practitioners were tied up with a rope until their shoulders dislocated and buried in holes in the ground until they almost suffocated. Guards wrapped practitioners' fingers with copper wire and ran current through it. The guards also used scissors to stab underneath the practitioners' feet, cuffed the practitioners and locked the cuffs to rings buried in the ground, and beat, kicked and electrically shocked practitioners who were physically weak. They also put poisonous snakes on the practitioners.
  • Practitioners Suffer Cruel Persecution at Sanshui Forced Labour Camp, Guangdong Province

Between 2002 and 2005, the Entrance Team of Sanshui Forced Labour Camp, which detains and persecutes male Falun Gong practitioners, four times enacted a procedure called "Attacking the Base," in order to "transform" practitioners by cruel torture. It labels practitioners as "class enemies" and uses electric shocks very frequently. For going on a hunger strike, practitioners are confined in a small room.
  • Torture and Slave Labour at Hohhot Forced Labour Camp in Inner Mongolia

The guards took the most steadfast practitioners behind closed doors to torture them with more brutal means. They stuffed filthy socks into the mouths of practitioners to stop them from crying out or groaning, then they handcuffed and shackled them with very heavy fetters. They shocked them with electric batons after pouring water on the floor so as to induce more severe shocks, and they imprisoned practitioners in tiny cells which were less than one foot tall and totally dark. Many practitioners were tortured to the extent that they became very sick. The guards did not allow those sick practitioners to get medical attention or have proper rest.
  • Persecution in the Gaoyang Detention Centre and Baoding Forced Labour Camp

At Gaoyang Detention Centre, Ms. Yan had to listen to the sounds of police beating and verbally abusing people. Police officers tried to force her to give up the practice of Falun Gong by subjecting her to brainwashing, but she refused to cooperate. The police tied her to a "Tiger Bench" for four days and nights. When tied to the "Tiger Bench", your hands and feet are shackled so tightly to a big metal chair that you can't move at all. You sit on two iron bars, with the weight of your whole body pressing on your buttocks. It is extremely painful. During four very hot days when she was tied to a "Tiger Bench," she wasn't given any food or fluids and was not allowed to use the toilet or sleep.
  • The Persecution I Witnessed at the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp

Ms. Song Wenjuan called out, "Falun Dafa is great! Falun Dafa is a righteous way!" Guard Wang Na immediately dragged her off to be tortured. I later learned that the guards had tortured her with electric shocks to the point of unconsciousness. Ms. Sun Yanfang refused to renounce Falun Dafa. Guard Liu Baibing summoned her and brutally tortured her until she could not move her wrists. In spite of this, they still forced her to work. Because of the repeated torture, she has rows of scars behind her knees to this day.
  • I Was Arrested and Taken to Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp to Be Persecuted for My Spiritual Belief

"Most of the people imprisoned in Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp were Falun Gong practitioners. There are also some non-practitioner detainees there, but not many. The atmosphere is especially intense. As soon as a person enters the camp, he/she feels it is ghastly and fearful, causing one to gasp for breath. I lived on the first floor. Five people live in each room. The window was nailed shut and the room was not ventilated. The smell was very strong from the toilets. We often heard guards beating and abusing people on the second floor. There were also the pitiful cries as the practitioners were beaten."
  • Practitioners Tortured at the Fourth Division of Jilin Province Women's Forced Labour Camp

Guard Zhang Guimei and Wang Zhufeng (warden) once tied practitioner Yuan Shufang (over fifty years old) to an execution bed for many days. They used the excuse of treating her illness to insert over ten electric needles into her face, head, hands and soles of her feet and then applied electricity, causing Yuan Shufang to foam from the mouth. Wang Shufeng and Feng Xiaochun (warden) shocked practitioner Ma Guirong (over fifty years old) with electric batons, causing her to be unable to walk or take care of herself. She could only lay on the ground after the beating.
  • Exposing the Brainwashing Methods Used by Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

I just came out of Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. The camp had tried all means to persecute me and make me give up Falun Dafa. When I was initially sent to the labour camp, the guards and the collaborators were very "nice" to me. They showed their particular "care" in their attitude of talking and how they treated me in daily life. Never be deceived by them. After a while, their true intentions were revealed. Each air particle in Masanjia is soaked with evil, and it makes people feel suffocated.
  • Stories of Slave Labour and Psychological Torture at Xin'an Forced Labour Camp

Some practitioners were made to knit sweaters while the rest had to wrap disposable chopsticks and skewer bait fish. Wrapping disposable chopsticks is also hard work. The chopsticks came in large burlap bags. Practitioners had to carry the burlap bags to the third floor, about 100 metres. Each day over 100 burlap bags of chopsticks would arrive. Each bag of chopsticks weighed over 60 lbs. on average. Sometimes there was a shortage of people, and even an elderly practitioner near 60 years old had to carry these heavy sacks to the third floor. Every day practitioners had to wake up before 6:00 a.m. Immediately after they made their beds and washed, they were made to start the day's slave labour.
  • My Experiences in Three Forced Labour Camps

On October 23, 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal to higher authorities on behalf of Falun Dafa with three other practitioners. At 10:00 p.m., we were arrested in a hotel. Our cash was also confiscated. When one practitioner walked toward the doors to leave the lobby, police officers caught him, pushing him to the ground and beating him. The practitioner's nose was bleeding, and his clothes were torn. We were detained and the other practitioners protested the detention. Officer Feng poured boiling water on them, and they were scalded badly. Later on we were detained in Zhangshi Forced Labour Camp. We worked as slaves until 10:00 p.m. or later.
  • Brutality at Suihua Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province

In 2004, An Senbiao refused to be "transformed" at Suihua Forced Labour Camp. He protested the persecution by hunger striking for six months. During the hunger strike he suffered all kinds of brutal tortures. He was hand-cuffed to a death bed for a prolonged period of time, force-fed through the nose and tortured continuously by four collaborators, who forced him to drink salt water and burned his mouth with boiling water. The collaborators also wrapped up An Senbiao's private parts with cayenne husks, making them swell so much that he could not urinate. In order to prevent him from crying out they sealed his mouth.
