  • Shanghai Prison Continues to Persecute a Falun Gong Practitioner Despite His Worsening Eye Condition

    On January 18th, 2011, Shanghai Tilanqiao Prison was under pressure to take Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Guo Xiaojun to Nanhui Prison hospital for an eye exam. The optometrist there identified Mr. Guo's eye problem as a retinal artery spasm. If not treated immediately, he said it could lead to permanent blindness. Prison authorities still tried to force Guo Xiaojun to attend a “psychology” session, in reality a brainwashing session attempting to pressure Mr. Guo to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong].
  • Imprisoned and Tortured for Over Nine Years, Mr. Hou Yanshuang Dies in Shenyang Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hou Yanshuang was arrested on the evening of October 21st, 2001, and sentenced to 14 years in prison. He was transferred to Shenyang Prison on August 27th, 2002. That same day, Jia Ke, Management Office chair, ordered prisoners to severely beat Mr. Hou, causing severe injuries to his lumbar and cervical vertebrae. Afterward, officials from the prison didn't provide Mr. Hou any medical treatment. He developed a bone spur as result of that brutal beating. Mr. Hou was detained in the 7th Ward of the No. 1 Shenyang Prison for nine years. In January 2009, doctors from the prison hospital determined that Mr. Hou had suffered a stroke and a heart attack. Mr. Hou finally died on March 3rd, 2011, in the prison hospital.
  • Ms. Luan Guizi Dies as a Result of Persecution

    Ms. Luan Guizi died in 2010 after she had suffered many years of persecution. She was subjected to forced labour twice. Ms. Luan went to Beijing twice to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute practitioners in 1999. She was subjected to three years of forced labour after she was arrested during her second appeal in Beijing. She was imprisoned at the Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp. She was forced to work extremely long hours on highly physically demanding labour, and had to eat dirty soup and food which was usually fed to animals. Her bedding was made from hazardous materials. To protest the persecution, Ms. Luan refused to work and went on a hunger strike. The guards ordered inmates to force-feed her with brine and defected milk powder. They beat and tortured her.
  • Wang Suping Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison and Her Family Repeatedly Harassed

    After being homeless for several years in order to avoid persecution, practitioner Wang Suping was arrested by police at Hanting Coal Market on March 18th, 2010. She was then sentenced to nine years in prison and was taken to Jinan Prison on January 10th, 2011. the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) attempted to coerce her youngest daughter. Police went to Ms. Wang's eldest daughter's workplace to find out which school her younger sister attended. They were not successful in getting the information, so they went to her husband's workplace to try and get the information. In April, the police eventually found the youngest daughter and said to her: “Do you know where your mother is?"
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Hongzhen Is Arrested Again, Her Ailing Husband's Illness Worsens and He Passes Away

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Hongzhen from Shanghai is about 55 years old. On February 18th, 2011, Ms. Li went to a supermarket and was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. Someone began talking very loudly about what she was doing and reported her. She left and went back home. Policemen searched her home and arrested her. Her ailing husband could no longer overcome this huge mental pressure and passed away.
  • The Hardships I Faced at Ten Years Old When My Mother Was Imprisoned for Practising Falun Gong

    Mr. Xiao Zhanxin lives in Heilongjiang Province. In 2000, he was just ten years old. When his mother was repeatedly arrested and detained by Chinese Communist Party authorities, Xiao Zhanxin faced hardships at home, and suffered discrimination from his teacher and bullying from classmates. He recounts: "It was the spring of 2000. Sun Jihua and Tian Chunlai from the Chengxiang Police Station rushed into my home and took away my mother. I was ten years old that year and my sister was about four years old. I had to take over all the housework including the laundry, cooking, watering the yard, and taking care of my little sister."
  • Authorities Harass the Families of Practitioners Imprisoned in Jiamusi Prison for Seeking Visitation

    Three Falun Gong practitioners were tortured to death in the last two weeks at the Jiamusi Prison. The families of imprisoned practitioners are worried about their family members' lives in prison, and have been asking for family visits. Instead of relieving the anxiety of the families, the Jiamusi Prison administration formed a Special Service Team to harass the families. In six days, on February 26th, 2011, Mr. Qin Yueming, 47, was tortured to death. On the twelfth day, March 5th, Mr. Yu Yungang, 48, died as a result of torture. Three days later on March 8th, Mr. Liu Chuanjiang died as a result of torture.
  • Mr. Zeng Zhiyuan Sent to Forced Labour Camp Three Times and to Prison Once

    Mr. Zeng Zhiyuan has suffered brutal persecution at the hands of the Chinese communist regime. He has been arrested four times, sent to forced labour camp three times and sentenced to prison once. He has been subjected to brutal torture at the detention centre, prison and forced labour camp. In 2007 he was arrested while posting Falun Gong information exposing the persecution on a wall. In detention Mr. Zeng went on a hunger strike to protest the detention and mistreatment. On the fourth day of his hunger strike, the police ordered 10 criminal detainees to force-feed him. They brutally beat him.
  • Ms. Chen Xue, a Young Instructor from the Fujian University of Technology, Is Taken to a Forced Labour Camp

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Xue was arrested by the police from the Domestic Security Division, Fuzhou City Police Department, Fujian Province on January 19th, 2011. She was secretly sentenced to two years of forced labour. On February 25th, she was taken to Fujian Provincial Women's Forced Labour Camp. During the past few years, Ms. Chen has been persecuted by the head of her university and the police because she practises Falun Gong and tells people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
  • Brutal Torture Methods: Inserting Needles into Fingertips, Burning Fingernails, and Pulling Off Fingernails with Pliers

    Panjin Prison Division Chief Guan Fengchun ordered inmates to handcuff Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Cheng's hands against the wall. Then they inserted a medical needle into every one of his fingertips, a total of ten needles. The needles were inserted between the fingernails and flesh, which caused blood to drip off his hands. Some needles broke through the fingernails and the blood dripped off the needle tips. When Mr. Huang died, the scars left from this torture were still on some of his fingers.
  • Woman Farmer Disabled by Forced Injection at Tangyuan County Detention Centre in Heilongjiang Province

    On December 13th, 2010, the police again arrested Ms. Song Huilan, a Falun Gong practitioner from Heilongjiang Province, and subjected her to torture and interrogation. The torture continued after she was transferred from the Huachuan County Detention Centre to the Tangyuan County Detention Centre. She was also injected with unknown drugs. Shortly after the drug injection, Ms. Song Huilan's right foot began to turn black and swell. She was unable to walk and became bedridden. In less than two months, Ms. Song, who used to be in perfect health, faced the danger of having her legs amputated.

    On Friday, two Vietnamese Falun Gong practitioners will go on trial in Hanoi because the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) objected to short wave radio broadcasts they were beaming into China. Vietnamese practitioners see these arrests as the most dramatic instance of a campaign inspired by the CCP to suppress Falun Gong in Vietnam.
  • Cases Showing How the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Severely Persecutes Falun Gong Practitioners and Their Families

    Ms. Chen Shulan's brother Mr. Chen Aizhong died on September 20th, 2001, after being brutally tortured at Hehuakeng Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan. Ms. Chen Shulan's younger sister, Ms. Hongping, was beaten so badly that both of her legs sustained fractures, and she was sentenced to forced labour. She died on March 5th, 2003 in the Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp. Ms. Chen Shulan's other brother Mr. Chen Aili was abused until he was in critical condition at Jidong Prison in Tangshan, and he died on August 4th, 2006. Ms. Chen Shulan's father Mr. Chen Yunchuan was enticed and threatened with money and property by local government agencies, as they wanted to force the elderly man to agree to something, but he did not comply. Not long after that, Mr. Chen Yunchuan was killed by a vehicle in a hit and run. Police never looked into the case.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Lu Shunmin from Xuchang County, Henan Province Has Been Detained for Eight Years

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lu Shunmin was arrested by police in May 2002 and detained at the Xuchang County Detention Centre for a year. During the detention, he was forced to wear shackles weighing forty-eight kilograms (106 lb). He was later sentenced to an eight-year term and detained in Xinmi Prison in Henan Province. While he was detained in the sixth prison district, guards burned his right middle finger with a cigarette lighter, and beat and tortured him.
  • Jilin Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Members Arrest and Steal from Citizens During the “Two Conferences” Period

    Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members in Jilin escalated their persecution of Falun Gong practitioners during the “Two Conferences” (The National People's Congress Conference and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference). The increased persecution targeted practitioners following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Authorities set out to deliberately create an atmosphere of terror. CCP members from the street committees, police stations, and other offices in Jilin broke into practitioners’ homes. They harassed, threatened, and arrested practitioners, then ransacked their homes.
