Falun Gong Married Couple Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Lu Guijuan, fifty-seven-year-old this year, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Zhucheng City, Shandong Province. Before practising Falun Gong, she was physically weak and had severe hypertension. Her husband, Lin Shuhua, had severe heart disease and could not do heavy labour. But after the couple practised Falun Gong, they recovered from their illnesses and became healthy. During the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong, they were also persecuted, and on April 9th, 2010, they were sentenced to imprisonment. Ms. Lu Guijuan was sentenced to six and a half years, while her husband was sentenced to three and a half years. -
Mr. Niu Ruiyi and Ms. Mao Xiulan from Tianshui City, Gansu Province Secretly Sentenced
2010-08-19In January two Falun Gong practitioners were arrested and taken from their home by the police. The police confiscated their computers, printers, Falun Gong books, and many other personal belongings. Both Mr. Niu and Ms. Mao were detained in the Gangu County Detention Centre since their arrest. In May, Mr. Niu and Ms. Mao were put through a show trial and sentenced by the Tianshui City Gangu County Court in Gansu Province. Throughout the whole trial up until the final verdict, there was not a principal prosecutor present nor was their case open to the public. The defendants' family members were never notified of their trial. Their families never received any kind of legal documents or any other kind of notice explaining what happened to them. -
Police in Jilin Province Detain a Disabled Practitioner
2010-08-19On July 11th, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Du Liming, who is disabled, was reported to the police as she distributed Falun Gong DVDs in Yidan Town. Police arrested Ms. Du and detained her in the Yitong County Detention Centre. The whereabouts of her developmentally delayed child is unknown. Ms Du has been harassed, threatened, and arrested by the police frequently because of her spiritual belief and practice. -
Mr. Liu Peng Abused at Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai
2010-08-18Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Peng was recently tortured at Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai. Family visits were forbidden for a while. When the family eventually met with Mr. Liu, they discovered that he had been injured and they noted injuries on the back of his hands and on his neck. Mr. Liu is so weak that he was in a wheelchair when he was brought out to meet the family. Mr. Liu's family is very worried about him. -
A Wife's Sorrow - Husband Guo Haixiang from Xingtai City, Hebei Province is Arrested
2010-08-18On July 27th, 2010, seven policemen broke into practitioner Guo Haixiang's home in Huining Village, Xingtai County. They took Guo away after ransacking his house. Guo's wife was not able to eat, drink, or sleep for days after his sudden arrest. She has been crying and feeling the pain while thinking about their life together. Before practising Falun Gong Guo used to drink until he was intoxicated, then yell and hit his wife. Since practising Falun Gong he became a good person and lived harmoniously and happily with his wife. So what kind of crime has Guo Haixiang committed? Will he be "transformed" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] in jail, and if so, into what kind of person? -
Please Help My Mother Song Dan
2010-08-18Several days ago, my mother, Song Dan, was talking to some people about Falun Gong, hoping that more would benefit from the truth and her experience, but she was arrested by police from the Tangyuan County Police Station. They did not allow us to visit my mother. There are elderly people at home who need her. My whole family urgently hopes my mother will come home soon. I hope that kind people everywhere will help us to rescue my mother! -
Falun Gong Practitioners Abused in Shandong No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp
2010-08-18Ms. Liu Shuzhen, in her 50s, was repeatedly beaten and forced to stand upright for refusing to wear the prison uniform. In the spring of 2010, she was taken from the plant site to the leader's office, allegedly not doing the assigned work. She was kicked and forced to stand upright for days. She has been forced to stand upright for extended periods many times. Standing upright while being denied use of the toilet is very common in the camp. Ms. Yi Shanglin, was forced to stand upright and denied use of the toilet because she refused to write the three statements to renounce practising Falun Gong. She was unable to urinate after the long hours of torture and has since become incontinent. -
An Open Letter from Mr. Xu Dawei's Wife to Chinese Regime Agencies
2010-08-17Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Dawei was tortured at Dongling Prison in Shenyang City to the extent that he suffered internal organ failure, his body was covered in injuries, and he suffered mental collapse and memory loss. In February 2009, 13 days after his release from serving an eight-year term in the prison, Mr. Xu died at the age of 36. In March 2010, 376 villagers in the five villages in Ying'emen Town, Qingyuan County jointly signed an appeal letter on behalf of Mr. Xu. This incident has resulted in an investigation by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which has resorted to threats and harassment of the letter's signatories. Attorney Mr. Wang Jinglong, hired by Mr. Xu's family, has faced suppression from the Liaoning Province Justice Department. -
Mr. Tong Langui from Tangshan City, Hebei Province Dies as a Result of Persecution
2010-08-17Because Tong Langui practised Falun Gong, he was persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for a long period of time. He was detained at Fengnan Detention Centre and beaten by prisoners, bloodying his mouth and causing him to lose a tooth. Under enormous and ongoing pressure, he suddenly had a stroke on October 26th, 2005, and as a result could no longer take care of himself. Due to the persecution, he passed away in 2007 at the age of 44. -
Mr. Sun Tienong and Mr. Xu Sheng Sentenced by Acheng Court Officials in Harbin City
2010-08-17Mr. Sun Tienong and Mr. Xu Sheng were sentenced to prison terms of five years and four years respectively, by officials from Acheng Court in Harbin City on July 7th, 2010. The trial was conducted in secret and the practitioners' families were not informed. Mr. Sun and Mr. Xu were arrested by police on January 24th, while they were out posting Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution in Sanyang Village. They were taken to the Acheng District No. 2 Detention Centre. -
Ms. Chen Yanyun Very Weak Due to Long Term Torture at Yunnan Province Women's No. 2 Prison
2010-08-17Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Yanyan, who is being held at the Yunnan Province Women's No. 2 Prison, has been under "Strict Control" for almost a year. Mr. Xu Wei, who is Ms. Chen's husband, met the prison procurator on the morning of July 29th to complain about the illegal conduct of the prison. He also presented a "Letter of Accusation about the Prison Guards Who Violate Human Rights with Physical Punishment and Cruel Torture" to the prison procurator and the prison warden. They agreed to give him an answer in a month. Ms. Chen is very weak due to the long term torture. Her husband only got to see her after appealing many times to relevant authorities. -
Ms. Rong Fengxian Died in Baoding Mental Hospital in 2001

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Rong Fengxian, 32, was persecuted in the Beishi District Brainwashing Centre. She went on a hunger strike for six days to protest her innocence, and refused to write a guarantee statement to give up her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Guards severely beat her. They even ordered her husband to beat her. Police sent Ms. Rong to the Baoding Mental Hospital and she died there in 2001. -
Mr. Wen Hongjun's Elderly Mother and Disabled Wife Thrown Out of Court for Demanding His Release from the Ji County Detention Centre
2010-08-16Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wen Hongjun went into exile to avoid further persecution from local police. A Police arrested him on September 28th, 2009. Ji County Court officials subsequently tried him on February 5th and April 2nd. His lawyer defended his innocence at both trials, but the court adjourned both sessions without delivering a verdict. He is still incarcerated in the Ji County Detention Centre. Wen Hongjun's mother is in her 80s, and his disabled wife has epilepsy. His sudden arrest left the two women without any income. The two women travelled close to 100 miles to demand their loved one's release. The court bailiffs carried them out of the courthouse and threw them out on the pavement. -
The Ordeal Suffered by Mr. Kao Fuquan and His Wife, Ms. Song Guihua
2010-08-16Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Kao Fuquan was arrested on May 8th by 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). He is incarcerated at a brainwashing centre, where he has been subjected to abuse and torture. His wife, Ms. Song Guihua, was also arrested on August 6th. The centre's officials have forbidden Mr. Kao's family to visit him and have blocked information concerning his circumstances from the outside world. We have learned that the brainwashing centre guards severely abused Mr. Kao for five days. -
Ms. Tang Min from Changsha City Once Again Sent to a Brainwashing Centre
2010-08-16Ms. Tang Min was subjected to incarceration in a mental hospital and injected with toxic psychiatric drugs. Following each injection, she experienced symptoms of feeling cold, trembling, and becoming restless. The long-term psychiatric drug injections and isolation caused Ms. Tang, who was in her forties, to appear thin and old. Ms. Tang was arrested again and sent to a brainwashing centre by personnel from her workplace and 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) on July 16th.
