  • Devastated Father Dies the Day after His Son Is Again Arrested

    Having spent six years in prison for refusing to give up his belief in Falun Gong, 51-year-old Mr. Cheng Yongyue was arrested again less than four years after his release. His father was so devastated that he passed away the very next day. Mr. Cheng's wife filed for divorce, leaving their school-age son in tears every day.
  • Tieling Detention Centre: Practitioners Chained to the Ground and Force-Fed

    Falun Gong practitioners are brutally tortured in Tieling Detention Centre in Liaoning Province. One of the worst tortures involves fastening them to the ground with chains and force-feeding them. A metal ring secured to the ground with a three-inch lock is put around the practitioner's neck. The person's head is fastened to a metal hoop, and his or her limbs are stretched out and attached to the ground with thick, heavy chains. The practitioner is then unable to move in any way. Mr. Bai Yufu has been in Tieling Detention Centre since December 2014. He went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution, so he was chained to the ground, force-fed, and not allowed to speak.
  • Practitioner Loses Sight in Left Eye Due to Beatings in Prison

    Mr. Zuo Fusheng was sentenced to six years in prison and taken to the Fuqing Prison on August 15th, 2012. Mr. Zuo was handcuffed and hung up by the handcuffs for six hours. He lost the sight in his left eye due to severe beatings. Mr. Zuo and three other practitioners are detained in the “Steadfast Belief Transformation Team,” which was specially established for torturing Falun Gong practitioners.
  • 70-Year-Old Ms. Yu Zaorong Died Due to the Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Zaorong, a 70-year-old farmer, was sentenced to three years in prison in 2012 and held at the Hubei Women's Prison. She developed severe heart problems and was released on medical parole. Despite her illness, Ms. Yu was harassed and monitored at home. The police ransacked her home during the first half of 2014 and confiscated her Falun Gong books. Because of the long term persecution Ms. Yu suffered physical and mental harm. She passed away on January 3rd, 2015.
  • 36-Year-Old Ms. Lu Ling Dies after Years of Persecution

    Ms. Lu Ling from Genhe City, Inner Mongolia, died in a hospital on October 16th, 2014. She was only 36 years old. She was incarcerated twice in forced labour camps and sentenced to five years of imprisonment. When she was on the brink of death, Ms. Lu was released from the Hohhot Prison in 2012. She had been subjected to years of torture and abuse because she practised Falun Gong.
  • Dark Secrets of China's “Ankang” Psychiatric Hospitals

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liang Zhiqin was taken to Tangshan Ankang Hospital in autumn 2000, where she was injected with nerve-damaging drugs. Ms. Liang Zhiqin suffered heart failure and went into shock twice after receiving injections of psychiatric drugs. She could not take care of herself for three years and eventually passed away in 2009.
  • Ms. Mu Suxia Dies due to Illness Incurred in Detention

    Ms. Mu Suxia was arrested for installing satellite dishes that enable viewers to receive overseas-based New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV). NTDTV is banned by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because the programming is uncensored by the CCP and does not conform to the Communist Party line. She was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison. Ms. Mu was in good health prior to the arrest. However, she became very ill while at the Zhengzhou Detention Centre. She was released on medical parole in May 2014. When she left the detention centre, her entire body was swollen, and the ensuing medical treatment to save her life failed. She passed away on December 22nd, 2014.
  • Beaten to a Vegetative State, Ms. Ma Liqin Died in 2013

    Ms. Ma Liqin, arrested for practising Falun Gong, was beaten to a vegetative state while in detention in March 2002. After her husband divorced her, Ms. Ma's family took care of her for the last 11 years of her life. Because of international pressure, the Qitaihe Police Department declared an "investigative conclusion" on March 20th, 2003, which claimed that "there was no proof that Ma Liqin's cerebral haemorrhage was caused by a police beating." It was recently learned that Ms. Ma passed away on January 25th, 2013, at the age of 59.
  • Recount of Mr. Huang Wei's Death 12 Days After His Release from Labour Camp

    Mr. Huang Wei, 44, died on April 29th, 2011. His death occurred 12 days after his release from a labour camp in Guangdong Province. Before this, he was arrested and detained many times because he practised Falun Gong. He was sentenced three times to a forced labour camp. Mr. Huang was skin and bones and suffered from a mental collapse after his release.
  • Ninety-One Falun Gong Practitioners Died in 2014 as Result of Persecution

    The year 2014 saw 123 newly confirmed cases of Falun Gong practitioner deaths that resulted because of the Chinese Communist regime's persecution campaign. Among these cases, 91 deaths occurred in 2014, 17 in 2013, and 15 prior to 2013. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Shuxian was arrested by police on August 7th, 2014 and was dead the next day. When Ms. Zhang's husband saw her body, she had dark bruises and wounds all over her chest, abdomen, and legs. There was a footprint on her back, which appeared to be the result of a heavy kick. Ms. Zhang died at the age of 53.
  • Imprisoned for Ten Years, Mr. Xu Huijian Dies at Age 41

    Mr. Xu Huijian was released in April 2011, after being imprisoned for ten years. He was skin and bones at the time. Mr. Xu had contracted a severe case of tuberculosis in prison due to rounds of hard labour and poor nutrition. He coughed all the time, and often churned up blood. After a severe episode of coughing up blood, Mr. Xu passed away on December 24th, 2014. He was only 41 years old.
  • Ms. Bai Wanzheng, 63, Dies After Long-term Persecution

    Ms. Bai Wanzhen, a Falun Gong practitioner from Changji, Xinjiang Province, died on December 4th, 2014, at the age of 63. Previously, the communist regime listed her as one of its most wanted targets. Her parents and two sisters died prior to her death because of the persecution. She was the last one among her siblings to die after years of mistreatment.
  • Elderly Ms. Liang Bingxian Dies from Being Persecuted

    Ms. Liang Bingxian, 73, passed away on October 30th, 2014, after suffering from the unprecedented persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She had been arrested in April 2013, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong, harassed and her son and daughter-in-law were sentenced to long prison terms just for practising Falun Gong.
  • Mr. Zhang Youwei Died in 2011 Shortly After Release from Labour Camp

    Mr. Zhang Youwei, 47, from Beijing, passed away on December 1st, 2011, at home, shortly after being released on medical parole from Tiantanghe Forced Labour Camp, where he was near death and his body was swollen and disfigured. Mr. Zhang had been sentenced to two years of forced labour and held at the Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp from 2001 to 2003, where he was tortured, incarcerated in a small cell, and shocked with electric batons.
  • After Ten Years of Forced Exile, College Professor Dies at Age 49

    Ms. Shao Jingmei, Associate Professor of English at Taizhou Teacher's College, passed away on April 29th, 2014, at the age of forty-nine. Before her death, she was forced to lead a vagrant lifestyle in order to escape the harassment and persecution of the Chinese government for her faith in the spiritual practice Falun Gong.
