  • Mother Seeks Justice in Son's Death

    “My husband passed away when our son was five years old. It was not easy to raise two children as a single mother. I survived only because of my son. He was so kind and loved me very much. He told me once: 'I will take care of you, Mum, even if I end up a beggar.' I worked so hard to raise him. He was strong and healthy, but he died when he was only 39. They (Wumaping Prison authorities) said they were not responsible...” said Ms. Peng Guangzhen, a 70-year-old mother seeking justice in the death of her son, Mr. Xu Langzhou, who died in suspicious circumstances in a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) prison, incarcerated for his belief in Falun Gong.
  • Tan Family Harassed, Beaten, and Tortured by Police for 15 Years

    Ms. Tan Yanling and her family from Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province, are all Falun Gong practitioners. They have been brutally persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999. Her father, Mr. Tan Guoyi, was tortured to death in 2004, and her brother, Mr. Tan Yanjun, in 2005. The local police department has refused to restore the registration of her sister, Ms. Tan Yanwei, as a permanent resident in the region. Ms. Tan Yanling is disabled, but the police have repeatedly beaten her without cause.
  • Tianjin High School Teacher Ms. Cong Huiyun, 64, Died One Year Ago

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cong Huiyun, an excellent teacher from Tianjin No. 102 High School, passed away one year ago, in July 2013, at the age of 64. Ms. Cong was sentenced to a three-year forced labour term in September 2002 for not renouncing Falun Gong. She was tortured and injected with unknown drugs, and became disabled from the ordeal she suffered in the labour camp. She became paralysed and bedridden in 2012 and died a year later.
  • First Half 2014: 69 New Falun Gong Practitioner Death Cases Confirmed

    Sixty nine new death cases of Falun Gong practitioners have been confirmed during the first half of 2014. Among them, 49 deaths occurred in 2014. 20 practitioners died in 2013 or earlier, but the cases were confirmed as of June 28, 2014. Among the 69 deaths, 22 (32%) were caused by torture in prisons, 9 (13%) in labour camps, 4 (6%) in brainwashing centres, and 9 (13%) in police stations or detention centres.
  • Imprisoned Shanghai Executive Experiences Persistent Vomiting for Ten Months, Wife Suspects Poisoned Food

    Mr. Pang Guangwen has been persistently vomiting after consuming food for the past ten months, soon after he was sent to Tilanqiao Prison for practising Falun Gong. When questioned by his wife as to his condition, the prison authorities replied with diagnoses ranging from gastritis to neuropathic anorexia, but have refused to provide her with his medical records. Given that neither of the conditions described by the prison authorities are likely to cause persistent vomiting for nearly a year, Mr. Pang's wife became suspicious, especially since several other Falun Gong practitioners have perished at the same prison.
  • Jinan Residents Harassed with Bulk Text Messages from “Above”

    Residents of Jinan, Shandong Province, received bulk text messages on April 25th, May 1st, and May 13th, 2014, from the Jinan 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and Office of City Security. The messages slandered Falun Gong and urged the general public to believe news reports from the government, and repudiate all Falun Gong-related materials; that is, not believe in, listen to, or read them. The texts warned the public that they should report any sighting of Falun Gong materials to the local police.
  • Sixteen Falun Gong Practitioners in China Arrested for Their Belief

    When police officers in China arrest Falun Gong practitioners, their actions are unlawful, because these people have not broken any law. Policemen frequently break into practitioners' homes and steal anything they want. Though it is called “confiscation,” they actually rob practitioners of their personal belongings. Sixteen Falun Gong practitioners from Fushun City, Liaoning Province were arrested on June 20th, 2014. While seven have been released, the rest are being held at the Fushun Detention Centre.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Continues to Suffer Nine Months after Hunan Police Forcibly Drew Blood and Injected Her with Unknown Drug

    Officers from the Chengdong Police Station took blood samples nine months ago from Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Peng Jinxiang from Huaihua City, Hunan Province. Then they injected her with an unknown drug which caused abdominal pain, breathing problems, insomnia and oedema. Ms. Peng continues to suffer these symptoms and her condition is deteriorating.
  • Physician Held in Solitary Confinement in Duyun Prison Dungeon for Over a Year and a Half

    Dr. Chen Mingsai has been held in solitary confinement in a dungeon in Duyun Prison for more than a year and a half. There is much concern regarding his current condition. Persecuted repeatedly for his belief in Falun Gong, Dr. Chen was arrested most recently on April 12th, 2012. He was sentenced to prison for three and a half years. Duyun Prison is notorious for its brutality. Practitioners endure tortures such as the death bed, savage beatings, electric baton shocking, being doused with boiling water, cigarette burns, sleep deprivation for months at a time, forced-feeding, intense forced labour for long hours, and having unknown drugs mixed in their food, to name a few.
  • Ms. Wang E Brutally Tortured and Her Whereabouts Unknown

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang E was shopping at the market on the morning of June 4th, 2014 when she was arrested by police. She had bought items with money that had Falun Gong information written on it. Ms. Wang was brutally tortured in an attempt to extort a confession from her.
  • Ms. Bao Yan Severely Injured while Trying to Escape Arrest

    To escape arrest, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Bao Yan from Shenyang City jumped out of the fourth floor window of her residence and was injured severely. Police arrested her son Mr. Zhang Lei and ransacked their home. Ms. Bao needed money for medical treatment, however, the 10,000 yuan she had left at home was stolen by the police.
  • Older Woman Dies after Unjust Incarceration

    Ms. Yang Xiangzhen was handing out information about Falun Gong when she was arrested in April 2012. She was first detained at the Tanghe County Detention Centre and was then transferred to the Nanyang City Detention Centre on July 21st, 2012. She was sentenced to four years in prison. Less than one year after being sent to Xinxiang Women's Prison, Ms. Yang developed symptoms of cancer and went into surgery. Prison officials sent her home afterward to avoid being held responsible for her condition. Ms. Yang passed away early this year at the age of 69.
  • The Plight of a Practitioner's Teenage Son

    Starting from when Gongding was a baby and well into his teens, his life has been a veritable nightmare. In addition to seeing his mother, Shan Fugui, forcibly abducted from his home for practising Falun Gong, he spent many sleepless nights knowing that she was being routinely tortured in a forced labour camp. After Ms. Shan's grief-stricken husband passed away last year in Shandong Province, China, her elderly father and mother were unable to take care of Gongding, which made him very sad.
  • Mr. Wang Yushi Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison Without Trial

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Yushi, 26, was sentenced to a seven-year prison term on May 23rd, 2014. He has appealed to the Tianjin Intermediate Court. His family hired a lawyer to plead not-guilty for him. Mr. Wang was arrested at work by police on July 16th, 2013. He was beaten after being taken to the Nankai Police Station. About seven officers ransacked his home and confiscated many Falun Gong materials exposing the persecution and personal belongings.
  • First Half 2014: 413 Falun Gong Practitioners Put on Trial

    During first half 2014, 413 Falun Gong practitioners in China were unjustly tried in courtrooms across the country. The communist law enforcement, including the police departments, Procuratorates, and courts, used a variety of means to interfere with the lawsuit processes. They threatened the family members of practitioners, suppressed their lawyers, and held trials without notifying the lawyers.
