  • Brutal Persecution Suffered by Female Falun Gong Practitioners in China – Part 1

    During eight years of the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Wang Yuhuan was arrested and detained more than ten times. On one occasion, she endured the torture method of tiger bench for three days and two nights until the bones in her ankles were exposed from the constant grinding of the shackles, and the tendons in her arms were torn from the repeated beatings by the guards. Ms. Wang's face was charred from the constant shocking of electric batons. Her eyeballs were burnt with cigarettes, and her eardrums were punctured with bamboo toothpicks. Her body was completely covered with bloody lacerations. She was stripped naked and tied down on wooden boards with her limbs spread out for 26 days, suffering insult and humiliation by guards, prison doctors, and male inmates. Ms. Wang passed away on September 24th, 2007 as a result of torture.
  • Bureau of Prison Administration Hides Crimes of Torture, Victim's Family Continues to Appeal

    The mother and wife of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Xiangyang have insisted on lodging a complaint against Binhai Prison for torturing him. They recently went to the Tianjin Prison Administration Bureau where officials told them, “It's none of our business, it's not within our jurisdiction to handle it.” Since Mr. Zhou was arrested and taken to the Binhai Prison (formerly Gangbei Prison) in Tianjin on March 5th, 2011, he has been on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. His family complained to the Binhai Prison authorities for physically abusing and mistreating Mr. Zhou, using the “floor anchor” torture on him. Binhai Prison personnel didn't stop their evil deeds.
  • Beijing's Haidian Court Sentences Ms. Wang Fuling Without Notifying Her Family

    On June 25th, 2010, while practitioner Ms. Wang Fuling was posting signs exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in the Shuguang residential area in Haidian district, she was spotted by Hu Xuejun, a policeman from the Shuguang Police Station. Hu called the security of the residential district. Together they arrested Ms. Wang and took her to the Wanshousi Police Station. Later, Ms. Wang was detained in the Haidian Detention Centre. One month later, she was transferred to the Beijing Detention Centre. The next month, she was transferred back to the Haidian Detention Centre. During this period of time, her family was never allowed to visit her.
  • Fuzhou Domestic Security Division Agents Arrest Many Falun Gong Practitioners

    On September 16th, 2009, police officers arrested retired teachers Falun Gong practitioners Fan Kejuan and Wang Xiuqin, who were in their seventies, and ransacked their homes. They not only took Fan Kejuan's computer and printer, but also her husbands computer which he used to conduct scientific research. They were held in Fuzhou No. 2 Detention Centre, and Fan Kejuan was sentenced to three years and held in Fujian Women's Prison. Wang Xiuqin was held for one year before sentencing her to three years in prison with five years' of probation. After she returned home in September 2010, she was frequently harassed by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) thugs.
  • Firsthand Account: Ms. Li Qiongying, in Her Sixties, Sentenced after Refusing to Bear False Witness Against Another Practitioner

    When Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Qiongying was arrested, police asked Ms. Li to acknowledge getting Falun Gong fliers from a deceased practitioner's home. They said, “Cooperate with this, and we will immediately take you home in a police car.” I clearly told them, “My conscience won't allow it. I'd rather die.” Zeng punched me in the face, and I fell to the ground. She was subsequently tortured by the director of the First Division of Xianyou County Police Department, Zeng Jinxiong, and sentenced to six and a half years in prison.
  • Tortured by Guards in Panjin Prison, Mr. Zhang Qi in Critical Condition

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Qi has been tortured continuously by guards in the Fifth Ward, including Wang Haijun, ever since he was sent to Panjin Prison in June 2008. The severity of the abuse resulted in his being in critical condition many times. Since April 2011, he has been on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Now, he is in critical condition again.
  • Former Deputy Secretary of Laishui County, Hebei Province Arrested Again

    Several police officers knocked on the door of Falun Gong practitioner Liu Jinying's home at 9:00 p.m. on October 8th, pretending that they were there to inspect the water meter. They questioned Liu Jinying about where she had been, while making a record of what she said, and then took her away. Her whereabouts are currently unknown. Liu Jinying was previously sentenced to serve a five year jail term by a Laishui County Court because she practised Falun Gong. She refused to write a guarantee statement renouncing the practice, and she was brutally tortured in prison to the point of mental disorder.
  • Ms. Liu Wei Sentenced to Prison for Talking to People about Falun Gong

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Wei was arrested by police on September 17th, and sentenced to four years and six months in prison. She is currently detained at the Changchun Women's Prison. At around midnight on July 24th, 2009, Ms. Liu was arrested the first time for talking to some people in Ji'an to raise their awareness about Falun Gong and the persecution. The Toudaogou Police arrested her and sent her to the Ji'an Detention Centre, where Ms. Liu was tortured to the point that she contracted a serious blood disease. She was later released due to her illness.
  • School teacher and Former Principal Ms. Yang Guizhi Tried in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia

    Ms. Yang Guizhi is an award-winning teacher in Inner Mongolia. On September 22nd, 2011, she was put on trial and framed by the Yuanbaoshan District Court. On May 12th, 2011, four Falun Gong practitioners, including Ms. Yang Guizhi went to the police station requesting the unconditional release of fellow practitioner Ms. Ren Suying. Policeman Liu Caijun not only turned a deaf ear to the practitioners’ request and kind persuasion, but also detained them.
  • Ms. Guo Yunlan Framed by Public Security Agents in Donggang City, Liaoning Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Guo Yunlan was handed a written notice from Danggang City Court on September 20th, informing her that she would be tried after October 1st. The Donggang Domestic Security Division, Changshan Town Police Station, and Donggang Procuratorate plotted together to charge her. Ms. Guo was forced to sign and put her fingerprint on a blank sheet of paper; the paper was used to forge evidence against her. In September 2010, police searched Ms. Guo's home and found Falun Gong books and materials and arrested her. Ms. Guo suffered a massive hemorrhaege last November due to the abuse she suffered while she was detained in Dandong Detention Centre. She was allowed to be bailed out and await trial at home.
  • Ms. Jia Yanfeng, Mr. Zheng Jingjiang and Mr. Zhan Xingchao Arrested in Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province

    Mr. Zheng Jingjiang was arrested and detained in Sidao Forced Labour Camp in Mudanjiang at the end of 2002. Guard Wang Xuewen instructed inmates to crush his fingers with a pair of pliers. He was also beaten and his ribs were fractured. Despite his condition, guards still forced him to do hard labour. After Mr. Zheng was released from the labour camp, officers from the railway police went to harass him at his home and at his wife's workplace many times. Police arrested him again and took him to Yichun Brainwashing Centre on September 6th.
  • Ms. Song Wenjuan Protests the Persecution with a Hunger Strike at Harbin Women's Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Song Wenjuan was arrested last December and sentenced to four years in prison for talking to people about Falun Gong. Recently, her family visited Ms. Song at Harbin Women's Prison, where she was on a hunger strike. She appeared frail and had to depend on others' support in order to stand.
  • Ms. Li Suzhen's Health Takes Turn for Worse While She Is in Government Custody

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Suzhen was in a brainwashing centre several years ago, where she nearly died due to the persecution she underwent. She was able to regain her health again thereafter because she practises Falun Gong. Arrested again recently, her current whereabouts are unknown to her family. The last time her family heard any news about her was when the police told them they found her vomiting and unable to tend to her own needs.
  • Ms. Zhao Jinrui from Qingyun, Shandong Province, Detained in Dezhou Detention Centre

    On September 20th, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Jinrui accompanied her friend Liu Jinqiang and his wife to Dezhou City to go shopping. On the way home they were stopped by four vehicles from the Domestic Security Division of Decheng District Police Department in Dezhou City that had been following them. A group of plainclothes police forced Ms. Zhao, Mr. Liu, and Ms. Wang to get into their car and detained them in the Dezhou Detention Centre.
  • Second Trial of Mr. Kong Xianguo Held in Xigang District Court in Dalian

    The second trial of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Kong Xianguo was held in Xigang District Court on September 21st. From beginning to end, the trial lasted only about 5 minutes. Mr. Kong was first tried on August 1st. During the trial, he exposed how he had been tortured when he was interrogated. The presiding judge, Li Tiezheng, asked him about the torture. Mr. Kong said that the police had immobilized him, inserted a lit cigarette into his nose, and poured alcohol down his throat. The judge interrupted him and did not allow him to continue. The prosecutor, Sun Min, asked Mr. Kong, “Where is the evidence of this torture?” When Mr. Kong showed them the scars on his arms, they were speechless. This first trial ended without any conclusion.
